We put our name on the wait list through Open table. When we arrived they said ‘Open Table hasn’t been working for us tonight’ and do not offer to replace us on the wait list.
Delicious street tacos! We usually come here because I’m craving their elotes. It’s pretty packed on the weekends, so maybe not a place to have dinner if you’re hoping to have conversation.
I met a couple of friends for dinner. The Salazar and Camerones tacos were awesome! The salsa and margarita was good and the churros were the best I've had. The price was very reasonable!
Delicious food. Great option for gluten free! Most of their foods are gluten free.
We tried this place on a whim and we were pleasantly surprised at how good it was! My favorite was the grilled shrimp tostada, and my wife loved the veggie hearts of palm fried tacos. Great beer, great food, big patio...awesome
Food was relatively bland all across the board. It must have been an off day
Nice place for street tacos and drinks outside.
Would be nice if they fixed that huge metal overhead fan they have so that the fan blades aren't constantly "CLINK!" against the the metal cage surrounding it.
We had a great time again and Thomas was awesome as a waiter. It was a bit noisy with all the young kids running around but always a good time and the food was awesome
Ever changing menu which can be good or bad... Depends if you have favorites. Great patio!
As visitors from out of town, this taco joint came recommended to us. The salsa was awesome, the chips coated with grease (lots of grease), and the tacos - OK. We went for weekend lunch and it was pretty hopping. We didn't try margaritas, so i can't speak for the booze. If it was a place in my neighborhood i'd go back, but i don't think its a destination restaurant. This being said, i won't be back.
Nice lunch spot.
We loved Taco Republic!! Their food is to die for and the service was excellent as well!
The dining experience was so much fun...food was fabulous and the sangria's are wonderful. You must give it a try...
What a surprise for us. Wanted someplace near home and did not want to "dress up". Found Taco Republic on Open Table and what a gem we now know about. The server was efficient, pleasant and met all of our requests often before we were aware of them!
As always, an enjoyable dinner. Especially love the Fresco tostada to eat and Mexican Mexican Mule cocktail to drink.
Enjoyed the restaurant for lunch with friends. Street tacos were amazing. Looking forward to my next visit.
The tacos were well flavored and put together nicely. My tostada was drenched in sauce from the tacos on the plate which made it difficult to eat. The jalepeno margarita was WAY too spicy, but that's to be expected (my fault for ordering it). However, the highlight of the entire dining experience was the corn. I'm not a huge corn fan, but this stuff was amazing. I would eat corn more often if it came prepared like this. As for returning, it's possible. A bit out of the way, and if I'm going to make the journey, odds are I'm headed to Joe's KC, but if the line is too long, you'll see me at Taco Republic.
Great food, notable drinks, awesome experience eating outside. Another win for Bread & Butter concepts.
Second time in a row when the food wasn't properly prepared. On the mark in terms of flavor.
First time here; we were not disappointed! The carnitas taco was really good.
For the second time, staff has said Open Table is down and couldn't check me in. When I confirmed with the server, I'd get my points she said they don't take reservations. When I showed her my reservation on OT, she said that must be new because she's never heard of it. Seriously?!?! Two tables seated after me, were given drinks and chips before I was. I then had to ask for them myself. This was the second time I've been there and service was pretty bad the first, but this was even worse. The food is good once you get it.
Appetizers were great. We had fish tacos and chicken enchiladas--both were way too salty. Would go back if they fix that.
We had heard great things but we were less than impressed. We had 5 different types of tacos and none hit the mark. Queso was tasteless. The server was fine but not personable.
This is a trendy, neighborhood restaurant that was reasonably priced with fresh, good food. It's a good thing they give you chips and salsa because the wait time for the food is incredibly long considering they're only making tacos. Our server had a pompous attitude which was not okay. OpenTable wasn't working when we arrived, however, our reservations let us bypass the 30 minute wait time. The outside dining space is great, if you like eating outside. It got very chilly and we were nowhere near a heater. Good experience, but definitely room for improvement.
We tried six different tacos between the two of us. ALL of them were good. The beer braised brisket was really outstanding. Don't skip the freshly made churros for desert. If you have ever eaten a hard dried out prepared in advance churro before, this will remind you what a churro is really supposed to taste like--DELICIOUS! The service was good too which made for a very pleasant experience; we would highly recommend!
Another great concept by bread and butter. The salsa is hands down the best salsa in town. The Margaritas are fresh and not from a mix. The Whole Roasted Chicken is more than enough to feed a family of 4.
I walked in the restaurant and the staff had our table ready. My guests trickled in and the restaurant was very accomodating. Our server was friendly and helped us order rather quickly. I had a sage Margarita that was tasty. The food was delicious. Lots of variety on their menu. Dessert was tasty too. I would definitely come back.
We always enjoy Taco Republic. The food is good. The margaritas are good. My husband can find a fun beer. Close to home. Reasonably priced. Motown music. Very casual and comfortable. Thanks for your hospitality, Taco Republic!
On a last minute decision to head into downtown for the night, I had a difficult time finding a reservation at any restaurants on the Plaza. I stumbled across Taco Republic on open table. I had never been but my husband had heard good things. We decided to try and it exceeded my expectations. Food was great and it's cheap which is always a plus! We all ordered three tacos and I loved that none of them tasted anything alike. It's not like when you go to a chain plain and by the time you get to the third you can't eat anymore. My favorites were the veggie taco and the shrimp taco. My husband's favorite was the pork belly taco. We were very impressed and will definitely be back.
Sat in the outdoor (enclosed) area on a cold night, and it was very comfortable. Food was delivered quickly, but we were really disappointed in each of the tacos we tried. Nothing spectacular for the $3+ each we paid. Fundido was perhaps the best we've had in KC.
