Taboon Ratings and Reviews
Four of us really enjoyed dinner. The food was excellent! We shared some Mezze and a few mains-really loved the focaccia and dips, as well as the baked cauliflower, octopus, and crab shawarma. Fantastic date sivan for dessert. The service was friendly and attentive. Look forward to returning to try more dishes.
What a beautiful gem in Hell's Kitchen! We walked here from The Press Lounge for a late dinner at about 10.30 last night and it was such a great decision. I liked the hummus trio a lot, the pita was warm and fluffy. We also ordered a bottle of Prosecco and the server was so prompt in refilling our glasses. It wasn't empty for more than a minute at any given point of time. Oh and I absolutely loved the ambience. It felt like I was sitting in someone's elegant living room.
Was a regular of taboon back when when I lived on 48th street. This has been a few years so was excited to return but found it a little underwhelming. Perhaps it was what I ordered but still with the prices and my memories it fell short than what I had remembered. Was a good meal but not great. One thing was still good.. the bread.
We know the chef from Israel. The food was great - a fusion between comfort Israeli food with a touch of American model food (e.g. Crab Shawarma, the Short Rib)..
In general we had a great meal but I got to say that the service was a bit too Israeli.. one of the waiters was a bit too friendly..
But still, if you want to have good modern Israeli food with a touch of authentic kitchen this is the place :)
Great dirty martini's and appetizers set the stage for the delicious main courses we choice. The baked Branzino dish is a must as was the the Chicken Maschan. With the 2 appetizers, Shish Barak and the Taboon Trio the 2 entree dishes were plenty for the 3 of us
I love this restaurant and just had my 50th birthday there. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The bartenders are amazing. Don’t miss the breads, the octopus, the falafel ... too much to mention. This is one of my favorite restaurants on the entire world. I’ve been to 32 countries.
Love the ambiance and service. The food is very interesting. We started with hummus. It has a kick. Then roasted eggplant, yummy and beet salad, very tasty. The octopus appetizer is great. We had a special Black Sea bass and wonderful squash soup. Excellent! The dessert was amazing, I can’t remember how to spell it but it was the first one and it is like simta. We were there for 3 hours and the time flew. They didn’t rush us.
For our anniversary dinner, we asked to sit at the bar. The service and food are always top notch, and tonight we couldn't have been happier. Our food was stellar, the drinks were great, and our service was amazing! A great spot if you're looking for a consistently great place to go.
Had a great dinner at Taboon. Food was delicious especially the appetizers. Ambience and service are excellent. It's both cozy and very nice, with a great bar as well. Had a great drink called Nefritti's kiss. I made a choice to have a salad w chicken as an entree, when I go back I will make sure to have a more traditional entree in the future, I didn't like the salad as much as I liked the appetizers.
Dear Taboon, As I cannot be there absolutely every day, can you share your hummus recipe? Another great Taboon experience. And, this time, a great server! No snark and no disappearing or blaming the Bartender!
Greek wine, an Israeli beer, Feta and lentils in my Caesar Salad, and the most perfect hummus on the planet. Give us Middleterranian any day!
Lovely, lively spot to have a special dinner. We came here a couple of weeks ago and just had to come back again, it's that good. This time we chose to share a whole bunch of mezes and desserts, which worked perfectly so that we could all taste as many things as possible (and all were delicious). The lamb kebabs in particular are incredible! And the staff were kind enough to accommodate our request for a quiet table, which was perfect.
We made a reservation based on a referral from and were not disappointed. The service was great, wine was great, and the food was fantastic. We did the Trio, oysters, beet and carrot salad, potato/octopus salad, and split the steak. First, this was more than enough food for the two of us, but it was so good, we ate it all. Honestly, our favorite was the potato/octopus salad. This was our first trip to NYC, and we will definitely be back here on our next trip.
I live 3 blocks from TABOON, so have been there often. This time I brought 2 friends from Miami, who are real foodies. They absolutely loved their meal- said the hummus was the best they ever tasted! The bread is probably the best @ any restaurant & the assortment of dips make it even better. Two of us had branzino- the fish was delicious & a very generous portion. Lastly, the service was excellent. Oh, and I enjoy a restaurant where the noise level is such that you can actually have a conversation!
Excellent menu. Went with a vegetarian and we had no problem finding numerous delicious options. The bread is amazing and the wine list offered great moderately priced options. The service was attentive but not annoying. Atmosphere was intimate but not stuffy. I rarely visit the same restaurant more than once because the selection in NYC is so great but I would absolutely come back to this one.
Everything The Infatuation NYC promised and more! The flavors were so beautifully combined and the ingredients so fresh, our only real issue was deciding what to eat. We wanted it all. The trio of dips and the shishito peppers are a must. Have the hummus. You will never be the same. And grilled calamari! We just intend to keep going back and working our way down the menu. The only weird thing about the whole experience was our server, who was, for lack of a better word, snarky (and slow.) She forgot to put in a wine order and then threw the bartender under the bus. Poor form. She was no better with the table next to ours. The place deserves better.
I love this place. The food is consistently amazing and the bread is to die for. My only big complaint is their corkage policy. $45?! That is outrageous. We used to dine here bi-weekly but our recent meal was the first time in about a year. Hopefully management will reconsider this but if that doesn't matter to you, then you'll have a great meal.
