We had excellent food pre theater Saturday night. I ordered the cauliflower appetizer to share-it was fantastic and a generous portion for 2-it could serve 4 as part of an appetizer. Then I had the squid which was a light size plate that was delicious, too. My husband had the lamb on a chopped salad which was a nice size dish. We sat at the bar and the bartender gave us great friendly professional service. I'd definitely go there again and recommend it for the mediterranean/middle eastern style food.

Consistently very good food. Went for restaurant week because the menu selection was great, one of the better menus offered by any restaurant during restaurant week. Only con is that the restaurant is so far west! Need to open another location more convenient and centrally located.

First visit (during Restaurant Week). The food was EXCELLENT! Tables were a bit close (but not unbearable) and I hate "restaurant lighting" but the food more than made up for it. Definitely coming back!

Normally a fan of Taboon but I set up a dinner for 3 couples and our table was not ready. They were apologetic, gave us prosecco while we waited, but it was uncomfortable as there is no waiting area, hardly unusual for NYC restaurants. We had a testy interaction with some blonde chick at the bar who felt we were intruding on her space ( I love getting rammed with an elbow in my back and then a sweet "Excuse Me!!"). I was exhausted and later came down with the flu, nothing to do with the restaurant obviously but didn't make for a pleasant evening at all since we had to wait 20 minutes for our reserved table.

My friends thought it was delicious, especially since one of them is a vegetarian (he was excited by all the delicious small plate options) but I am giving it a long rest. My 3rd visit but have had my fill for the time being. The small plates trend can be delicious but there are many contrasting strong flavors, if you aren't into that then I'd recommend the entrees.

I REALLY wanted to like Taboon after having quite a few people suggest it to me, but unfortunately our experience was not great. We had made a reservation a week in advance for 8PM for 6 people and confirmed it. Day of I get a call asking me if I could come instead at 8:30PM but I politely declined saying after a day of travel for my guests 8PM is the preferred time. Fast forward to us getting there and having to wait over 20 minutes past our 8PM reservation to be seated as they did not want to ask the guests at the table we had reserved to please move - mind you this is after I've been told that they showed up late for their reservation and had proved to be difficult so no one wanted to deal with them. Only offer we received during this very long wait time was to have our coats put aside for us - no complimentary drink or focaccia or (quite frankly) anything to try and rectify the situation. After being rushed through our meal (the food is VERY good), and an undeserving 20% tip already included on our bill, it took another 15 minutes for them to locate our coats and bags. All in all there are plenty of places in New York that not only have great food, but amazing service. Taboon could be wonderful if they treated all of their guests like VIPS but sadly I don't believe I will return as my $500 would be better spent elsewhere.

This is a tale of 2 restaurants. One is of the delicious food and warm ambiance of the restaurant and the Taboon oven. The other is the awful cold table not only literally in front of the door but also in the entrance of the Taboon service area where the dishes whisk by inches by your head and shoulders and dishes and silverware get thrown about assaulting your ears. The servers were warm and gracious, the management was arrogant, pretending to ignore the table situation and excusing it with "well you did make your reservation online today last minute" and bizarre words like "this is all part of our restaurant". There was no apology. It took a huge effort and groveling to eventually move us. Is this greed, ignorance, or is this the new normal where politicians have lead us? Please vote and choose another restaurant.

The staff was really attentive and kind on the phone and in person. They didn't rush us but made us feel comfortable, and even remembered my birthday was a dessert. The food was excellent: tasty, fresh, and interesting ingredient and spice combinations. I loved it!
