The best things about it were the atmosphere and the bread. Otherwise it was a huge disappointment. The dishes were overly rich, not heated properly, and simply did not taste good. I couldn't get past the first bite of either of my dishes.

Great food, great service, great drinks, we tried this place on our trip to New York, was not disappointed. The hummus appetizer with fried avocado was the best I’ve ever had. Sea bass was tender and fresh. Waitress talked us into a mixed drink- cannot remember the name- something with gin and vermouth. Delicious. We spent a lot but it was a vacation. Would definitely go back.

The main part of the restaurant is very pretty, but we got stuck next to the bar. A bit noisy and not very relaxing. I am not sure if it makes a difference if you request the main dining room. Food was good, but I wish there were more vegetarian dishes. We had a special that was made vegetarian for us, but I did not enjoy it.

When I'm in NYC (about once a month), it's a rare trip that a miss a chance to go to Taboon - my favorite midtown restaurant! I often host guests/small groups or recommend theater area restaurants and this treasure never fails to delight. The food is delicious and almost too generous, the staff has that perfect balance of friendly without being intrusive. The wine list is limited but there's always a mid priced wine that complements the evening's dishes. Five starts for being my absolute favorite pre theater restaurant.

I've been to Taboon many times, and always enjoyed the creative menu and delightful romantic ambiance. The service was attentive and 'just right'; it was my husband's birthday and I so appreciated the special dessert with a candle so that we could sing happy birthday. Interestingly, my husband's least favorite food is Mediterranean, but he has now definitely changed his mind, he loved the Taboon experience, though the food was different and exotic, and he is very much looking forward to a return visit.

We love Taboon! The service was amazing and everything we ordered was great. We had oysters on the half shell - it is served with a dill sauce. Never had oysters like that but it was tasty. Meatballs are delicious as was buratta. We'll be back!

OUTSTANDING! Best new restaurant we tried in NYC and convenient if your going to the theatre as it’s away from the craziness but close enough to walk. The menu is so unique and amazing flavours and textures. I can’t say enough how much we LOVED our meal here! Can not wait until we are back in the big Apple to experience it again.

Highly recommend! Good service, good food, nice atmosphere. Only issue was a walk in (after us) was given a table inside the restaurant, where we were seated next to the curtains to exit. My husband had to hold the curtain, as it was frigid outside. I have already recommended Taboon to about a dozen people. I look forward to coming back.

Probably one of the best octopus dishes I have eaten outside of Spain. We shared a lamb kabob and had little plates. I finished with the rice pudding special. Everything was very flavorful and cooked to perfection.

Amazing Focaccia bread, hummus, feta and eggplant dip. Salad was a bit tiny for the price, but still very good. The moroccan meatballs were delicious. My husband had the restaurant week meatball dish and enjoyed it, but it didn't seem like a kebab as advertised. Rice pudding was a bit bland. Would go back for the bread alone.

When we arrived on time for our 5:00 reservation we were given a choice of 2 undesirable tables even though there were many empty tables for 2 available. We were told that we had to reserve those tables in advance. It seemed ridiculous as they weren’t that much more desirable and who thinks of requesting a certain table when they book their reservation on Open table. I think when you book on a Open table you expect to be treated fairly when given a table. We have eaten at many New York restaurants and we’re never been treated like this before where we had to actually demand a better table when offered the worst table among so many unoccupied tables. I really have no idea why they treated us this way. We were 2 attractive well dressed woman catching an early dinner before a show . We were on time and anxious to enjoy our dinner there. The owners were very unpleasant towards us even as we left and one said be sure to mention the table you want when you come again. I would never consider eating here again even though the waitress was lovely and the food was decent.

This is one of our favorite Go-to restaurants. The food is always great! We always order something different because EVERYTHING looks good! LOVE this restaurant. It can be noisy if you're in the main room - ask for a table nearer the entrance for a quieter meal.

Taboon has slipped--- ridiculously overpriced for what is served. Misrepresented dishes on the menu. Trying to be creative, but quite boring (most appetizers served with cucumber chick pea salad underneath the actual dish ordered to make plate appear more full) . They used to serve the bread piping hot with a knife you can cut yourself at the table, not bread arrives warm and pre-sliced---not eve close to the same experience. Began patronizing when it first open for several years---I'll never return--so disappointing and feel like I lit a match under my wallet for a sub sub sub par experience. Service, however, was very attentive.

The food is really good but the services is terrible. We had to ask four times for our appetizer which was bread and hummus. Like they don’t even have to cook it so how is that they forgot it and after 1. Ordering it 2. Asking three employees for it and all saying let me check I asked a fourth time and finally got it with my meal. Our waiteress didn’t check up on us at any point. When you try to ask any other employee for assistance they ignore you. Honestly one of the worse services I have ever experienced. The food was good and they did remove the item from the bill because of the delay and brought out an additional dessert however again the server just plopped it there and said nothing we had to flag our waitress to let her know we did not order that dessert and that when we were informed that they were giving it to us to make up for issue we had with the none served plate of bread and hummus.

Our dinner at Taboon was fabulous from beginning to end. The food was so fresh and artfully prepared and absolutely delicious. The cocktails were over the top. Service impeccable. I cannot say enough good things about Taboon. It is my favorite place to go to when in NYC. If I was Oprah, I would steal their chef and hire him to cook for me in my home. Cannot wait to go there again.
