This is the 2nd time I've paid Tableau a visit. The tartare's portion size seems to be smaller than the one from my first visit but still tasty. We also ordered their mussels.
Unfortunately, the table we had was a little small for 2 people to share the 2 plates of food. We had to eat off of our tea cup's plate just to make it work.
Brunch menu is short but sweet. Recommend the smoked salmon benny and pommes dauphines as a side. Server did not know what a flat white was (only able to order when a bartender came to the table) but service was quick and courteous for our group of 9. A little surprised to be charged $3 on each person’s bill for still water when we weren’t presented with the option for tap, which is the standard in restaurants. Better for business meals than social gatherings.
The mushrooms on toast was incredible. The flavors between the various types of mushrooms, sauce, cheese, watercress/herbs and soft toasted bread combined well together to an excellent taste! Must-try if you visit this restaurant =)
The plat de jour (lamb shank) had an interesting flavor combination for the couscous and complemented the fall-off-the-bone tender lamb. Definitely recommend to others interested!
The food and service is exceptional here! Anything you order will be some of the best food you’ve had. They really go out of their way to serve your needs, pay the bill secretly, take a picture for you etc. Amazing! The only reason I did not give this 100% is because it was so noisy I could hardly hear the people at my table, but it’s a busy lunch spot. They do have a private room you can book though so if you have a bigger meeting that’s the place to be.
This is a small French bistros attached to the Loden Hotel. Read about it in the Georgia Straight awards addition. The food was excellent. Steak frites done just how it was ordered. Appetizer also very very good. Would not go there without ordering the escargot. French onion soup was perfect. Definitely would recommend.
Service has improved significantly. I've had bad experiences before that made me think that poor service was endemic.
This time, our waitress was much better.
Steak and eggs seemed like they used the opportunity to hide a substandard steak under an egg. Oh well. I liked their fries.
Having had a great experience the last time we came here, we decided to come back. The server came by and from this moment on he gave us an attitude and made rude comments every time h came by. Our coffee was not refilled until our cups were empty and we flagged him over. We were the only people in the restaurant. He placed my coffee in front of my husband so I had to reach over to get it. When he wanted to put my steak knife down, instead of coming around behind me, he reached across the table and just tossed it. The knife almost fell off the table. We were hoping that the food would make up for the poor service. My husband's burger bun was so stale he didn't finish it. My steak was tough and cold. Were they too hungover in the kitchen or something? Of course the server didn't bother to ask how things were. We were excited to be spending time with family on a nice and sunny day and this server ruined our time together. Had we known the service and food would be this bad, we would have gone elsewhere.
Fantastic upper level restaurant! The food was outstanding and so tasteful. The spanish waiter who served us, was so professional and gave us a very pleasant evening at the restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant, and we are definitely going back to Tableau Bar Bistro. It has to be one of the best restaurant in Vancouver!
