Tableau Bar Bistro Ratings and Reviews
IT was my first time trying this dining establishment; I was not disappointed. The ambience was lovely, the food clean and perfectly served, with nice flavours, and no heaviness - which is hard to do with an omelette and potatoes!
The service was efficient and friendly, and the establishment itself was clean and inviting, and relaxed, yet classy .
We started off with the French onion soup which was excellent and very filling. My friend had the duck which she enjoyed and I choose the moules and frites. It was very tasty with a generous portion of moules. This was the first time that we had been to the restaurant , and we would return.
This is one of the few bistros in the city where one can actually carry on a conversation, without being drowned out by the noise.
The mussels and gnocchi we shared this evening were really delicious. The food is consistently good at Tableau. The service we received this evening was extremely professional, yet very friendly and accommodating.
Our main courses were served lukewarm due to cold plates. The manager provided 2 desserts gratis as an apology which was appreciated. We found it rather noisy for our liking as my husband is hard of hearing which made dinner conversation difficult or impossible. The French Onion soup was delicious.
I hadn't been to Tableau for a couple of years, as I had never found anything on the menu that I liked as much as the gnocchi they used to have but took off the menu. However, I saw that they now have another gnocchi dish that seemed like it might be similar. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. When I ordered, the server let me know that the gnocchi were made out of polenta, not potatoes. I thought that was strange, but decided to try it anyway. It neither looked nor tasted anything like gnocchi. It was basically polenta cakes, with huge pieces of tomato, and something that looked like rhubarb. I thought that was impossible, because I couldn't understand why anyone would put rhubarb in "gnocchi", but I couldn't figure out what else it could possibly be. I didn't even eat half. One of the most disappointing restaurant meals I have ever had.
The food was really good but about the service, didn't like it much. Because of 2 hour dining period, everything was kind of in rush. They would say no rush or take your time but the moment you start talking with your friends and giving your self a break, your dish will be collected! They don't let you finish your food and enjoy your time.
It's like you just have to go and eat, not to socialize and be relax.
Didn't see our server for 10 minutes after we were seated.
The pork cheek ragout over pasta really good. Our server recommended a squeeze of lemon on the roasted brussel sprouts, that was a very nice touch.
Our server then disappeared after she brought our dessert and wouldn't return for 20 minutes so we were kind of stuck there waiting to get our bill.
Overall the food was really good and exceeded my expectations and the other servers seem to be on the ball, it was unfortunate ours wasn't.
I would still come again.
Service and food was good overall. Although for some reason we had two servers and they each kept coming back to ask “how’s your meal” or “how’s it going so far” every 5 minutes. I appreciate the attentiveness but it got a bit bothersome and made us feel rushed to finish our meal. A bit more space and privacy would’ve been better and made us felt more at ease.
Always feel welcome. The manager bends over backwards for his customers. Service is quiet, classic French service. Never in your face. Eaten there numerous times and have tried many items on the menu and never been disappointed. The steak tartare is one of the best in the city. Also they have a great brunch.
We all had different choices and all found them interesting and delicious. Desserts were good, bread pudding was dry until waiter brought more sauce. Then excellent. Place was noisy due to a table full of young enthusiastic people celebrating. Still, we all enjoyed the evening.
Very festive ambiance for Christmas. Loved how attentive and enthusiastic the staff are. The venue itself was gorgeous! I loved the classy decor and furniture. Food was served timely and together. Everyone commented on how delicious it was. It's a little bit on the fine dining end, but if you to just sneak a peek, they have happy hour!
Fantastic French food in a more modern relaxed environment. Quality and presentation of the meal was great and tasted even better. We had the duck, butternut squash soup, escargot, creame Brule and cheese cake.
Service was excellent and set up an evening of fun.
We saw cirque Kurios after which rounded out my “French theme surprise date”
We were very pleased with the restaurant and the service. Onion soup and charcuterie were fabulous. Porc ragout pasta not so good. Pasta underdone and ragout was extremely bland. Told our server and the pasta was replaced and came back cooked and with more flavour (pepper had been added - perhaps a little too much). Manager and server were both very interested in making sure that we enjoyed the food. Mussels were good but broth could have been tastier. On the whole, a very enjoyable experience that we would repeat.
Food was fine and service was great just seating was really tight even just for two. We were assigned to sit at a table that’s right against the wall and there were less than 2 inches of space from the table next to us. We can barely move our arms either we will hit the wall or elbow the people next to us. It would be acceptable if this place was packed but throughout our dinner there were empty tables available... so we weren’t sure why we can’t be seated at a more comfortable table.
We went here on a friend's recommendation and were not disappointed. The French Onion soup was fabulous. Lots of plump, tasty mussels in the "moules et frites" but the fries should have been crisper. Our soup took awhile to come out but we were in no hurry. The waiter and maitre 'd both apologized and offered a free dessert which was appreciated. A bit loud for our liking but we were definitely on the older edge of the clientele. Nice wine list and a great vodka martini.
This is the 2nd time I've paid Tableau a visit. The tartare's portion size seems to be smaller than the one from my first visit but still tasty. We also ordered their mussels.
Unfortunately, the table we had was a little small for 2 people to share the 2 plates of food. We had to eat off of our tea cup's plate just to make it work.
