Table Mountain Grill and Cantina Ratings and Reviews
We used to come to TMI all the time, years ago however, I hadn't been in ages and thought to come for my favorite previously favorite TMI dinner of the Cherry Chicken. The chicken was over cooked, the sauce was not what I remembered and weird, dried cherries were used instead of fresh, and the veg consisted of all carrots oddly chunked and WAY undercooked. the sweet potato fries were also undercooked.
Our server was very nice and attentive. At times perhaps overly attentive, but generally no complaints on the service.
The meal was highly disappointing though and considering how expensive it is to eat at TMI, I won't be returning for any meal service any time soon.
We made reservations for Thanksgiving dinner for 2 people at 430. The hostess didnt seat us until nearly an gour after the reservation even though there were several empty tables we could see that really just needed to be bussed as this was a buffet. They were already removing the dessert trays and said they were out of pie by the end of the meal. Clearly, management knew they failed since they comped our meal, which is respectable but doesnt make up for ruining a holiday meal. I wouldnt recommend the TMI to anyone and, although I live nearby will never return.
We made reservations about a month before Thanksgiving for thanksgiving dinner. Upon our arrival, we were told they were about 30 minutes behind because they overbooked, when in reality it was more than an hour or more. We can't rate the food, however, as we were never called to sit. Service was poor. What we did see was a large gathering of discontented patrons waiting as we were, over worked and stressed staff. It's best we weren't seated as I would have been perturbed paying so much for mediocre (at best) service. Reservations mean nothing there.
I was very disappointed in the Thanksgiving venue and buffet at table mountain Inn. I had made reservations well in advanced for 430pm, and even called to confirm. My friend and arrived approx 1 hr early to notify the host there. We were told that they were way behind and could not seat us until at least 530 or an hour later than my reservation. I had also noticed many walk in customers were also being accommodated ahead of my reservation.
When we were finally seated, many of the buffet offerings were being closed down or had run out.
Overall this to me was unacceptable and I feel should be reimbursed in some fashion.
This event was poorly planned and overpriced based on my experience. It seems that the focus there was everything but good customer service.
We were seated an hour after our reservation on Thanksgiving Day. The restaurant over booked people for the day so by 3pm food was cold, and they also ran out of certain foods. Very disappointed for paying 42$ a person for cold food and did not get what we paid for. Management needed to plan the even better and not over book tables. We may come back but wish we would have been given a better price considering how long we waited to eat and how bad the food was.
Over the years I have always enjoyed the Table Mountain Inn. However, this Thanksgiving buffet was very disappointing. The crowds were not handled well. Even though we arrived 15 minutes before our reservation, we were not seated for almost an hour after our reserved time. People were jammed into the entry area and spilling outside, all standing and waiting long past reservation times. People already seated had to push their way through the crowd to go back and forth to the buffet. At the point we were finally seated, we were surprised to see many empty tables which apparently weren't being monitored and utilized for all the many people waiting. The buffet was also running low or completely out on some items . It was definitely not worth the price and it was an unpleasant atmosphere. I won't go their buffet again.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner. Had reservations, but were seated 45 minutes late. Not set up for buffets very well. Have to go through a waiting crowd to get to buffet and then back through to get back to your table with a plate full of food. Have been there before, but they definitely overbooked for this holiday. Won't be back for a holiday meal.
Went to the Thanksgiving buffet. We waited 25 minutes past our reservation time to be seated.
The lobby was overcrowded and you had to walk thru it to get the buffet food and back to your table. Other than that the food was very good, ample amount of many choices, and the server was excellent.
We attended the Thanksgiving buffet for either the third or fourth time, and as always we were very happy. We arrived a little early, as my mother is in a wheel chair, and they got us in early-a pleasant surprise considering the place was packed!
We'd been looking forward to the buffet for weeks, and it didn't disappoint one bit. (I suppose the only reason I didn't give the food 5 stars is that it's just not like home.) I'm not sure but there may have been more choices than ever before! Our server, Dan, was absolutely excellent!! Almost like "uncle Dan" putting on Thanksgiving for us.
Besides the special occasion brunches, I've dined a few times for lunch and dinner. It's always good, and I'm sure we'll go back!
For a Thanksgiving buffet this was awesome! The service was also awesome! I was told by our waiter they volunteer to work these holidays. Our waiter was exceptional and very attendant! If you want to get out of all the prep for the holidays this is the way to go.
There was a problem with my meal and my beverage, but the management was gracious about it. Ultimately, we were not charged for my meal and one of my beverages, but my husband and I both agreed that the food was sub-standard. It's a shame because we enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and ambiance.
Our dinners were very good - Santa Fe burrito and bison pot roast. The burrito definitely could have used more green chili, there was just a little bit on the plate, but the flavors inside the burrito were good. The bison pot roast was served on a large heap of excellent mashers and had some carrots and delicious gravy as well. The portions are good so there is plenty to take home for lunch the next day. Overall enjoyable dinner.
We have been going for twenty two years to this wonderful place! We even held one of our daughter's wedding receptions here! My husband and I go at least twice a month. My grandchildren request to go to the"Mtn. lion" restaurant every time they visit! Truly a Golden experience for the whole family ! Love the food!
We have been regulars for years. We have made our way through the menu and have enjoyed the food and ambiance, until recently. The last few times we've been, our food was slow to come out of the kitchen and our orders were wrong. This last time, our kid's food was gross and we sent it back to get something just as bad. Normally we get corn muffins right away, but this time they were brought out right before our food... the corn was old and chewy. I ordered the new wedge salad and found I had to work harder to eat the damn thing than the person who made it... the protein I ordered for the side was luke warm because, unlike the our other dishes, it didn't sit under the heat lamp for 15 minutes. Even the Bloody Mary was a disappointment. We've been comped for food the last 2 times and I rarely consider that a good thing.
It's obvious this is an ongoing problem since the clientele seems to be thinning.
Brunch on Sunday is a fab. I hope it's not as bad as dinner.
This kind of decline is on management. They better get it together or it will be replaced with some annoying trendy restaurant.
With easy parking, a friendly atmosphere, a solid menu with good food at a reasonable price, and excellent service, Table Mountain has much to recommend it. The fish tacos were particularly good as was the filling and tasty bison pot roast. We were also favorably impressed by our server, who though busy, hit all his marks as far as we were concerned. Needless to say, we will be making a return visit soon.
