A ever changing menu, created by Chef Jacob Sessoms and his seasoned team, is inspired by a wealth of American culinary traditions, paying particular homage to the cuisine of the South. The establishment has received many accolades as a farm-to-table, creative, service driven, urban minded restaurant with an interesting wine list and cocktails. Stuart was an excellent server, food was great, atmosphere is a little tight, overall very nice evening in Asheville
First time at your new location. The decor/ambiance felt less sophisticated than previous location. Consider a neutral color palate? Also, as the room filled up it was so hot we were sweating in our seats. That being said service and food were great and of the same quality as at your previous location.
First, the food and the drinks were freaking *amazing*
And…. It was also *really* noisy, *really* crowded and the service was an odd combination of perfectly attentive and…spotty
My overall impression is that the staff are a bit overwhelmed and had some difficulties balancing their load.
Would I recommend this place? Absolutely I would - but I’d add the caveat that if you’re looking for a quiet, romantic date-night dinner, this ain’t the place. It just isn’t. Too much noise and too many people
It’s more a come-to-unwind-and-let-your-hair-down space with truly great food and drinks
When my GF and I arrived, the first place they tried to seat us was smooshed in a tiny table between to larger and somewhat noisy groups - we both laughed right out loud and asked for a different spot. To their credit, the immediately found a better spot over near the bar
I would *live* to give the place five stars across the board based on the food alone - I’ve rarely had better. The “ambiance” and spotty service, though, forced me to drop to four stars overall
Amazing Farm to Table food! Every dish is made with such care!
The new space is both bright and cozy. Food is as great as ever.
Absolutely amazing food. The rabbit was soooo delicious!! Despite the restaurant being a bit on the loud side, the great food paired wi try the phenomenal service made for a wonderful experience.
Delicious food. Well presented. Knowledgeable prompt service. The noise level is way too high to have a conversation. No wall, ceiling or floor coverings in an older renovated bldg. Could definitely profit from ceiling baffles to help absorb the noise.
Was excited to try this place. We were seated promptly, in an extremely hot and crowded dining area. Music was extremely loud, too loud for casual conversation. Menu was very limited-server did a good job answering our questions/describing dishes. Food was sub par. Spring spaghetti was way too salty. My friends mushroom dish gave her an upset stomach. Neither of us finished entree. 2 drinks each, bread basket, 1 salad, 2 entrees and a bill of $150… yikes! Not the fun night out I was hoping for…
Excellent food. Ordered rainbow trout for two. Whole grilled fish arrived and server kindly instructed how to peel skin, break apart, avoid bones and enjoy. Beat trout I’ve ever had.
Only downside is tables are so close together you can touch people sitting at next table. Music was blaringly loud. Not a place to go if you want to enjoy any kind of conversation with your dinner companion.
I found this gem on open table ! Exactly as described! Fresh wholesome choices! We had the trout for two ! The blended flavors from fennel, cucumbers, chili spices with the fish were as delicious as we’ve eaten! And Stewart added his fantastic service as we began our anniversary celebration! Thank you Table Asheville.
Tables too close for comfort while Covid still here. Food seemed overpriced. Pasta with seasonal veggies not that outstanding. Squash appetizer the best-really fresh. Too much sauce on shrimp dish. Waiter perfunctory. Way, way too loud - people and music - had to shout to be heard. Won't go back.
Table is my favorite restaurant in Asheville - the new location makes it even better!
Dinner was excellent. Our party had the fresh bread, mushroom toast and shrimp appetizers. All were excellent but the mushroom toast really stood out. Entrees included the flounder with fresh tomato salad, cavitelli pasta with rabbit, ribeye steak. All were prepared simply, presented nicely and very good. Clearly the chef’s vision is a reality. We also enjoyed cocktails and wines both a bottle of red and the house chardonnay. As expected the cocktails were pricey but the house chardonnay was simply over priced at $18/glass - more costly than a Manhattan with premium Rye. Overall, a very nice experience with great food and friends in a fairly casual atmosphere. Total bill rand $100+ per person.
This place never disappoints. I’ll be dreaming of the rabbit cavetelli for years to come. The mushroom toast was decadent. The ribeye was dreamy. Dessert was heavenly. Service was on point. This is a must visit!
The atmosphere at the new Table is nothing like the old one. For starters, the noise level is incredibly high: if we hadn't been seated at the open window, at least a little way from the music source, we would simply have walked out. As it was, it was impossible to have anything like a normal conversation.
As for the food, focus on vegetables, everything was very good: outstandingly fresh and flavorful produce gently handled. My shrimp appetizer was a bit misleading, since there were about four quite small shrimp (not the fancy big red ones promised, but OK), with a lot of vegetables and sauce. Quite good, in the end, and better for me than what I thought I had ordered... The flounder was well cooked, crispy skin, though a rather boring piece of fish otherwise. Again, the accompanying vegetables were very nice. And my wife liked the cavatelli, with a sauce that had quite a lot of the promised rabbit. Fruits and berries on on kind of shortcake for dessert (we skipped the whipped cream).
Quirky but interesting wine list.
Prices really quite high for Asheville ($16 cocktails to start). Service a bit sporadic. I gather they're having trouble finding staff, like many places. Given the prices, I hope they pay their staff a living wage.
We are so happy to see 'Table' return to the Asheville food scene. As always the food was outstanding, Jacob has once again created a menu with outstanding combination of flavors. We love the new setting and with the ability for the large windows to open up, it's a great people watching setting. We are looking forward to many more meals there.
Service and food were excellent!! It’s our new favorite place
The food is excellent as well as the service. The wines are priced on the high side. The ambience is stark and the noise level high, mostly due to the music selection. A good place for people who like "vibe," but not for those who would like to savor the well-prepared food.
Whole trout with side of spaghetti and a bowl of veg. Outstanding,
Our dinner was delicious, and our table near the open air window was perfect. The service was top notch. A most wonderful evening. We would highly recommend!
Very crowded and noisy. Could not even have a conversation. Sun was right in dinners eyes due to lack of necessary shades.
Waiter must have been new. We asked what olives they had for martinis and he said green. Did not know the menu.
Bread costs an additional $7.00.
Will not return nor will I recomend.
We ordered the trout dish that the two of us could share. It came with delicious vegetables. Also had the squash appetizer with Parmesan (not grated) and it was outstanding as well. But the toffee dessert was one of the best we've ever had.
Amazing food. Manager Jake was extremely accommodating-he was able to fit in all of our family after a miscommunication a with my Open table reservation. Definitely would come back and recommend for our families/date night!
Great meal, good service too!
Great food, stellar service & lovely atmosphere.
The noise level was extreme. I would not return to this restaurant at this location.
We had a wonderful very tasty meal and great wine and service. On the down side we were seated right behind the servers and hostess computer so whenever I looked up there they were. Also the bathrooms could use sprucing up. Overall.. we will be back. Scott
"Table" and its new location was a hub bub of excitement. It reminded me of dining in a large city with that special Asheville congenial flair. The flounder dish was exquisite as were the amazing cocktails. I generally don't favor bourbon but may have suddenly become a fan. The dessert which was a combination of raspberry, bread pudding and ice cream. My only issue with this new location is that it was a little warm, with the air conditioning not being able to compensate for the hot sun. The thermostat, which was in plain view was set on 68 but escalated from 70 degrees upon our arrival to 76 upon departure. Overall, a marvelous culinary experience with great service!
Excellent service. Anticipated our needs. Provided insight and stories about the wine selection.
This chef is excellent. The farm to table concept really works here. The salad beyond good; a nice mid of greens. Love it when greens are crunchy.
Stewart, our waiter, was exceptional. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and paired us with a wine that was perfect. Cannot wait to return!
amazing food! very accommodating to food sensitivities.
Wow! From start to finish, the food was off the charts! The special bread was well worth the money we paid. Delicious salad with lentils, and the pasta with anchovies and cauliflower was beyond fantastic. Great vibe, great staff, great food - I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Excellent service and wonderful food. We had a reservation and we were seated immediately. The wait staff was friendly and efficient.
Perfect 10 from the moment we arrived until we got up to leave. Warm and welcoming atmosphere, terrific bar (we arrived early for our 7pm reservation so we enjoyed a cocktail while awaiting our table), attentive and thoughtful staff, and a truly outstanding meal. It was a beautiful evening so we were lucky they had outside seating space still available. We ordered the house bread to start (highly recommended), followed by the Parmesan Zucchini and our entrees were the Butcher’s steak and the day’s special - a rolled croquette with ground pork and rabbit so tender it practically melts in the mouth. Wish we’d found this place sooner but grateful we know about it now - because we’re buying a house here - WOW!
The best prepared trout that I have had in years. This restaurant is a Home Run….
Hands down one of the best restaurants in Asheville. Love the new spot and interior. Great environment and the food is outstanding
We’ve eaten at Table for eight years and this was the first experience at the new location downtown. The ambiance of the old location did not carry to the new one. The food was OK but nothing memorable. Service was fine but nothing exceptional. The room was hot especially for people seated by the window. Cocktails are now $16. It’s a decent tourist restaurant for downtown due to convenience but locals should walk on past.
Truly fresh and creative dishes that work beautifully. No detail was overlooked, flavors were all complimentary and unique. The servers are personable, patient, and attentive. Can’t wait to come back.
