Celebrating a friends birthday
Just a quick rundown on the "bad"... We had to send our filet mignons back the first time because they were both clearly overcooked, even though we were asked how we wanted them cooked. I said Medium-Rare and my wife said Medium. We both received what looked like Medium-Well fillets, telling me the cook was just doing whatever he/she wanted. I will admit, the steaks we received the second time around were as-expected.
The music was atrocious, and maybe that's subjective, but "classic oldies" were playing the entire time. For a place that is clearly marketing itself as "upscale/fancy", I was really expecting your stereotypical Frank Sinatra or something like that... however, the oldies were in our ears the entire time and it made it feel like we were at a Coney Island.
The redeeming factor was our waiter, who was absolutely awesome, extremely attentive, and basically INSISTED to us that we send our original fillets back (we are both shy about that kind of thing and generally hate to be "those customers"). His service was fantastic. The downside there, however, is that you're not guaranteed to have that waiter every time and I can't speak for the rest.
So, is an underwhelming "fancy atmosphere", risky food, and MAYBE good service worth the risk? For upscale pricing, probably not. We wouldn't come back. Not atrocious, but for what you pay, try your luck elsewhere.
Food is always great at Table 5.
We love the mussels
Wonderful dining experience. Nice and comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommend.
The food was amazing and everything we had had just a little extra hint of something that made it stand out (for the best).
Outstanding atmosphere, menu selection and foot preparation. I have been there several times and it is a legitimate destination spot.
We go often to Table 5. Food is always good: my guy always gets filet & it’s cooked to perfection, tender & flavorful. I had potato leek soup & wedge salad, both we’re very good. Service is always great. A consistently good place
Always a good place for dinner after an afternoon show at The Tipping Point. Some great wines by the bottle for 25 bucks.
amazing all around!
The food was prepared wonderfully...the chef understands his proteins. Some of the best prepared Salmon and beef I have had!! The vegetables were a little tough but not horrible. Wine was reasonably priced and the deserts were Excellent!!
Everyone is extremely friendly and the place itself has a very cozy feel to it.
Bravo! We will be back
We had reservations for my husband’s birthday, arrived a bit early but were promptly seated. The olive/cheese plate appetizer was so very good. We added the smoked trout pate and that was the best! We both ordered the walleye for our entree and it was perfectly cooked and delicious. Overall I would definitely come back. We thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience. I must also compliment our server, she was attentive without being overbearing.
Always an amazing experience. And the food can’t be beat.
My absolute favorite Downtown Northville restaurant. The owner makes you feel so welcome, wonderful service and the food is amazing!
We loved the food, ambience and wine. Service was perfect, exactly what you expect from a restaurant like this. We’re very happy we went there for our special dinner
Dinner before a show at the Tipping Point theatre. Liz provided excellent and timely service and the meal was wonderful.
My husband and I went celebrate our anniversary and had a great meal. We were able to relax and even saw a friend.
Food was amazing but didn’t come out very warm. Server was great. Restaurant was loud.
Exceptional service and the food was delicious!
Enjoyable overall experience from wait staff, food and best mussel ever!
Great meal, wonderful server
Table 5 has been consistently excellent for 10+ years. Take your pick..steak, pork, grouper or scallops...all prepared perfectly with tasty seasonings an sauces But start with the fish pate...the best you’ll find anywhere.
Very nice experience. Food was great and the atmosphere was wonderful. Definitely a nice date night place.
Came here for a date night with my husband and it did not disappoint! We had never been here before so I didn’t know what to expect. It’s very nice, ideal for a date night or special occasion. Service was outstanding and everything we ate was delicious. We had calamari and the smoked trout pate to start. My husband got the filet and I got the halibut and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The risotto was out of this world. We then split the sponge cake dessert which was like something I’ve never had before and we both loved it. We will definitely be going back in the future!
Wonderful anniversary meal. Food is delicious and fresh. Service is exceptional. Love everything about this restaurant and will continue to go back. The halibut is incredible too.
Outstanding service. Food was mediocre at best. We make better food than what was served. So frustrating when you expect something and do receive it.
New York Strip Steak was over cooked, Halibut had been cooked before the rest of our meal and had to be sent back because it was cold. Salads were okay, just lacked flavor and too much dressing making them “mushy”. Calamari was over cooked and what you would find everywhere. Didn’t stand out. Muscles were the beat part...should have stopped there. Probably won’t go back...
The food and ambiance was great. The service was SLOW. However, we didn't mind too much as we were with friends and having a great time. There was just really long waits between when our waiter checked back with us.
I had the beet salad, and salmon for the entree. Everything was delicious.
Friday night dinner with friends. We enjoyed being able to converse in a completely filled restaurant. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and attentive. Didn’t feel rushed, yet meal was served quickly and efficiently, everyone together. First time I can remember everyone eating everything, clean plates club, because the food was that good and portioned perfectly! Unfortunately, we were all too full to sample and comment on dessert.
Always fantastic!! Love this place.
Our table was ready on time. Our server was polite and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. It was quiet enough to have a conversation without a struggle. The food was delicious and well worth the cost. We will return.
This was out first time at Table 5 so we were not sure what to expect. Our waiter, I believe his name was Chad, was excellent and very attentive throughout the evening. Their cocktails were solid, I highly recommend the maple old fashioned. For an appetizer we choose the cheese and olive plate with the white fish paté. Good selection of cheeses, the olives were excellent along with the jam that came with the plate. The white fish paté was out of bounds. My only complaint was that I wanted more. Our entrees consisted of the halibut and filet. The fish was very delicately prepare, not overly seasoned, which really made the flavor of the fish stand out. The filet was cooked to order, and was tender and flavorful. For dessert we had the butter pound cake. It was one of the best desserts I've ever had. The taste, texture, everything; fantastic!!! The only thing I will say was the kitchen was running very slow that evening. Which for us was not an issue, but it should be noted for those who don't have a few hours to spend dining.
Lovely place for an anniversary
I made the reservation and stated that it was a birthday dinner.
The hostess acknowledged the birthday and seated us.
From that point on, the server mentioned nothing about the birthday and obviously didn’t offer us a complimentary dessert or whatever, even though we saw others in the restaurant being served birthday desserts with candles, etc.
I was embarrassed to mention that this was a birthday dinner celebration, assuming that the hostess relayed the information to the server.
Very disappointing.
Also, since we have been there in the past, they obviously changed the menu descriptions for certain items. The current braised beef is the same “beef cheek” as shown on previous menus and their website. This is certainly a “spin”.
My wife is a foodie and she believes the loaded baked potato soup did not have bacon as described, but pork jowl.
Excellent food and presentation. Friendly service in a cozy dining room. Excellent wine offering. Skip the chain restaurants !
Food and service was top notch.
Fantastic! We really enjoyed ourselves. Would recommend to others.
Our food was outstanding. We ordered the filet and the rib of beef, along with the onion soup which was outstanding. The butter cake is a must have as well and their martinis are amazing.
The hostess greeted us warmly and made conversation. Our server however seemed very rushed and was pressuring us to order. Definitely recommend a night out here!
Table 5 never disappoints. Exceptional service, delicious food and an elegant and cozy atmosphere. The halibut is amazing and the wedge salad with butter lettuce is a welcome twist on an old favorite.
Our entire experience was amazing. Our server Liz made the evening fun and the food was perfection as always. This is the best place to celebrate that special occasion. We did!
This was our second time at Table 5. The food was good, but the kitchen was really slow. Our waiter was pleasant and made light of the kitchen being really backed up, but we had to wait a pretty long time between courses. Dessert was delicious.
