Have you ever walked into an empty restaurant and wondered if it was empty for a reason? That was my first impression. We walked past a hopping wine bar, a bustling pub called Secreto and then into our dinner spot to complete silence. I’m not sure if everyone knew something we didn’t, but of the three places that shared the lobby of the St. Francis hotel, Tabla de Los Santos was practically deserted. It was nice to watch the passers by through the large windows around the restaurant, and the decor was nice, but it was just strange to be eating all alone in a huge dining space with two packed places down the hall.
The food was OK. My husband had the steak, which was a nice cut and prepared nicely, but nothing particularly memorable. I made a meal of a the butternut squash soup and a salad, neither of which I would recommend. They weren’t bad, but for the $$$$ of the place, I wasn’t wowed. The highlight was the desserts, which were a cobbler and an almond torte. Both were very good.
I’m not sure I would return, but if I’m in the area, I definitely will check out the two spots next door as they clearly had people coming back for more of their atmospheres.
First visit to Tabla was a year ago in 2016. It was spectacular. Second visit was 10/21/2017 on a Saturday evening. It was a major disappointment. The service was very good. The food was not up to par compared to last year. There is a bread plate on the table but no bread is served. Last year they served a bread basket with an assortment of breads. The menu has shrunk. The Entrees do not feature anything exclusive or high end gourmet items. The lamb chops we ordered were not good quality. They were tough and chewy for medium rare. The wild rice and carrots were very minimal and very undercooked. The crab cake starter was just like a crab salad. The goat cheese salad was just plain salad greens with a few dollops of goat cheese spread. The greens were not fresh, getting old.
A restaurant bill meal that is over $100 should be memorable. It was not the dinner experience we had last year.
The dinner was wonderful & we would go again. We are locals not tourists & enjoyed the people watching.
My complaint is with my Open Table reservation of Oct 3,2017 (#1107356119). I could not comment on the food or ambience because although my reservation was accepted, the restaurant was closed. Please adjust your reservation site as this restaurant is ALWAYS closed on TUESDAYS. Fortunately Santa Fe has many, many great restaurants .
The stuffed sopapilla was no sopapilla at all, just a hunk of fried dough. The 'stuffing' served Bessie the fried dough. The green chile cheeseburger had only a small amount of the green chile. Fries were incompletely cooked and tasted raw. All in all a very disappointing meal.
made reservations in advance for a Saturday evening business meeting, I was called at 3 pm and told that Tabla had arranged a private function and cancelled my reservation for dinner. It was too late to make new arrangements in downtown Santa Fe for Saturday night. Ended up postponing an important business meeting
My girlfriend and I met there for lunch, had not been in a few years. Seemed like a good idea but boy, what a let down. Food is in short, horrible. Hers went back to the kitchen but they still could not get it right the second time. Hers was tomato soup with a so called grilled cheese sandwich, sounds pretty basic and simple right? Well she could not eat it nor did I enjoy my very bland beet salad or blander green chili chicken corn chowder. We were so disappointed and left hungry.
We have both lived in Santa Fe for over twenty five years, we are cooks and appreciate good food. There are other choices in Santa Fe far better than this. We have good restaurants here, but this is not one.
It's okay if all you want is a cute patio in the Plaza area for a glass of wine, otherwise, forget it, eat someplace else.
We had a wonderful experience here!! Our server was super friendly and helpful, and the patio was gorgeous. So peaceful and quiet. but the best part was our meal. We split the cowboy scramble and it. Was. Amazing. Without a doubt, the best meal of our trip. We came back to Secreto for drinks the same night and had wonderful craft cocktails. All of the space is contained in a gorgeous setting. Highly recommend!!
Had previously enjoyed dining outdoors at Tabla de Los Santos but this time service was poor, food average and the noise from Coyote Cantina unbearable. We could hardly carry on a conversation due to the extreme volume of the bar music next door.
Too bad because this is lovely patio spot with good food as a rule.
We've had a few great dinners here but Friday night the whole show was off. They seemed very understaffed. It took forever to get waited on and when the wine came the waiter didn't even open it and pour! One of us waited an additional 15 minutes for a drink.
One salad order never arrived and they were out of some entrees.
The meal was ok but not as good as before. Seemed expensive for what we got.
We loved sitting out on the patio though and will try them again. Just hit a too busy evening.
The food was excellent, and the ambience very good. Fabio the greeter is a treasure and made the experience much more enjoyable. Gave a rose to the spouse which really made the experience stand out.
Two areas for improvement, in a high class restaurant where you are paying these prices for food and service I expect to receive a fresh knife after the appetizer not to be asked to leave the dirty one sitting on the table. Never order an expresso, they do not know how to make one. My "expresso" was a wanted down regular cup of coffee, just awful.
Food was interesting and well prepared. The room is a bit noisy simply because of the wooden floors and lack of any sound-deadening decor. I would have rated this much higher but the young woman who waited on us seemed quite untrained and really destroyed our enjoyment of the meal. She was much more interested in chatting with the people at our table than serving us. So when she pouted the wine, she poured three of the four of us, and then stopped to chat about herself, leaving the person with no wine trying to get her attention. The same thing happened when she cleared starter plates. She cleared three, though all four of you were finished. That meant one person had to sit looking at their dirty plate in the interlude before the mains came---and that person's main was set down awkwardly while she tried to get at the dirty starter plate. The server spoke so softly we could not hear her, even when we informed her that one of us was hard of hearing and asked her to speak up. It really ruined the meal for what was to be a celebratory dinner. A restaurant that pretends to be fine dining needs better wait staff.
Wonderful dinning experience. Food, atmosphere and service exceeded our expectations. The restaurant is in the beautiful historic St Francis hotel but is privately owned. The owner was on site and even made my husband the best Bloody Mary he ever had. The food was outstanding and healthy, wild caught salmon perfectly prepared, outstanding organic chicken dish. We will be back on one of our frequent visits to Santa Fe!

That should have been the clue.
No southwestern menu items. Dinner; salmon, ordinary.
Duck came to table raw/rare. Asked to cook a but more.
Then it was over done and tough. Fatty and tasteless.
At least they didn't charge for that entree.
My wife and I came here for a late breakfast/early lunch during restaurant week. The restaurant was pretty. The service was great. The food was really tasty: I had the chicken enchiladas with green chile and it was really good. Also had the corn chowder, which was delicious. Great location and atmosphere. Will come back
A birthday dinner for spouse and dear friend who have similar birth dates. Two orders of filet mignon, one salmon, and one duck. Everyone was very pleased. All entrees were cooked exactly as ordered and were simply outstanding. The sides included with the entrees were perfect complements. The ambiance is historic and quiet; very open. Easy parking across the street; not always a given in Santa Fe near the plaza. Truly an enjoyable experience.
Second time visiting Santa Fe, and it just keeps getting better. We decided to make reservations at Tabla de Los Santos, and we're happy we did.
We arrived a bit early and decided to sit at the Secreto Bar which is in the same property. We ordered the crispy quail, and a cocktail each. The quail was outstanding...incredibly crisp and succulent laying on a bed of collard greens and bacon. Was a great starter with our drinks. Dinner was excellent as well...rack of lamb and the pork chop was ordered by us. Both done to tender perfection. The plate with the pork chop was served with more greens and beets along with a manchego and potato gratin. The rack of lamb was served with a requested side of asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. The service was amazing. Very knowledgeable staff, very attentive. We loved this place! Worth your time and money. Fantastic :)
Great place to go for brunch on a Sunday. The location of the restaurant is perfect for sitting down next to a window, watching the world go by and enjoying perfectly prepared food. I would recommend the Steak and Egg Arepas. The steak was perfectly done and the eggs were cooked to my liking. My dining partner ordered the breakfast burrito and he enjoyed it. Next time I'm in Santa Fe, I would like to go back to try their dinner menu. Our server was attentive without being annoying which is always a bonus!
This restaurant was in the lobby of our hotel. We quickly became friends with the staff after dining in for breakfast, lunch, AND dinner over the course of a few days. I am a vegetarian with a gluten allergy. Tablas was able to easily accommodate my dietary needs, right down to the flourless chocolate/almond cake! In the mornings, they have fresh-squeezed OJ - a huge plus for me! The service was great! The ambiance was nice. There's a fireplace! The food was of great quality & I'm so grateful they were able to accommodate us!
