One of the things we look forward to on our frequent trips to Winter Park is dinner at Tabernash. The food is always creative and delicious. The chef adds new, inventive dishes to the menu and keeps the great classics. The pork chop was fantastic. Good cocktail and wine list too.
I try to go there w/ friends for happy hour and have not had a dinner there is a while. My friend I was taking to dinner for her birthday and I split an entree and each had a salad and the food was so incredible! We will be raving about the meal to many friends..... thank you
Soup and salad were good; however, for a restaurant of this caliber and reputation for good food, I was surprised there is no gluten-free bread, muffins or crackers to enjoy with soup and salad. The waitperson suggested I order a side order of fingerling potatoes!! Also, when I arrived the receptionist continued talking with another employee and then proceeded to fill in an address on a business envelope before acknowledging me. I was standing about 5 feet directly in front of her. Finally, I could not spot my service person for close to 10 minutes when I was ready to pay my bill. Finally, flagged down the receptionist who stated that my service person probably was in the back.
We came in at 5 p.m. I am gluten free. The only gluten-free options were steak and a huge shellfish dish neither which would work for me. With the exception of ice cream there were no gluten-free options for dessert. In fact the way to made it clear that they did not cater to gluten-free in anyway. The Caesar salad was awesome. My fish was relatively tasty but slightly dry. They finally substituted a gluten free grain when I pointed out we were the only people in the restaurant and it shouldn't be too hard. My husband's pork was a bit dry as well. Overall we were very disappointed. It would also have helped if the waiter it told us that the desserts were built for two. Won't be coming up back again and will not recommend to anyone.
Came here on a date with my wife. Her dish, the halibut, was very good. Mine, the wild salmon, was edible, but not especially good, especially for the price. Salmon should not taste fishy, but this did. I had stomach troubles the next morning. Do not recommend.
On entering the Tavern, you could see the line up of burgers under the lights. Should have taken the hint!!! We ordered a pretty good variety of things, from appetizers (Poke, and crab cakes- both meal-sized! If I go back, I will ONLY order appetizers!) to 4 different meals. I had a burger and fries (the fries were not edible, and were replaced when I spoke up). The rack of lamb (root beer marinade) somehow had mint in the mixture, and it did not go. Seafood paella was...odd, and overcooked. And the steak was overdone. All in all, disappointing for a restaurant that was tops in the area in 2016. I hope this was just a bad night! This place could seriously be helped by some sound absorbing decor...the noise level was so severe that hearing our speaker was a chore...
Was very much looking forward to this dining experience. Initial review of menu only added to the anticipation. Unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations and, in fact, the food was very poor. Cuts of meat were terrible, many of the sides were lukewarm to cold, and the flavors were overly complicated. Very, very disappointed and expensive to boot.
We along with a couple (close friends of ours) were celebrating our 55th wedding anniversaries were really disappointed that no effort by the waitress to recognize our milestone. She seemed so anxious to clear the table and bring the bill that she didn't offer up the dessert menu until we asked for it. Discouraged, we went elsewhere for dessert.
Great, innovative food without the pretentiousness of typical foodie places. Casual dress is fine, the service is superlative and the dining rooms are quiet. One of Grand County's finest restaurants, the Tabernash Tavern is worth going out of your way to experience.
Been here 3 times, food was always very good, but a little disappointed this time. Steak, halibut and scallop entrées were very good, but salmon special and paella (one of my favorites) was just mediocre. No seafood fork for the crab claws in the paella and no chiller sleeve for the bottle of cold white wine we ordered for 2. Service was very good and the live music, which was not excessively loud, was nice.
