For the high prices for food, one would expect top notch service. The food was good (not spectacular), but service lacking. A very dirty bread plate was set on the table. We had to ask for bread and drink refills, food came out without add-on (we had to walk through the restaurant to find waiter), and waiter was extremely loud.
We had a fantastic evening. Roxie our server was over the top, all of of choices were so delicious we were trading bites. The noise level was reasonable, we were able to converse and thankfully no background music. Lovely time, great food. We will return for other celebrations ... it’s a bit pricey for everyday but was worth it for an occasion.
Arrived on time and was promptly seated. But then took 10 minutes for a server to come to the table. Another 5 for a glass of wine. Brussels sprouts were soaked in oil and soggy. Cal Imari was also loaded with oil. Beet salad was good but had few beets. Disappointed.
Tabernash Tavern is a real goldmine in the small Colorado town of Tabernash. Great for a nice dinner—we have been there for years & it’s always great!
Good paella. Prompt and courteous service.
Food has gone downhill drastically. This used to be my favorite in the area but I won’t go again. Poorly prepared, over cooked over salted not done to temp poorly presented. Waiter was great.
We've been to the Tabernash Tavern previously. My husband has ordered the ribeye before and it's been amazing. However, this trip, his $49 ribeye steak was very mediocre - tough and gristly. He mentioned it to our server - said the steak was prepared well but it was a poor cut of meat. She said she'd mention it to the kitchen but the fact that his meal was poor was never acknowledged by anyone at the restaurant. Great atmosphere and we'll be back - but will be sure to order from the bottom end of the menu. Save your money and order a burger.
Very few gluten free options - nice place but not very accommodating in general. Our experience food is inconsistent. Wait staff not very friendly in general. We like it but don't love it.
Good menu w interesting choices. Lamb was very good. Service ok. Little pricey for quality.
We place a high value on quality food so choose eating out carefully albeit sparingly. It is a pricey meal that we would reserve for special occasions but the food is quite carefully prepared, creative menu and good selection of wines. Hard to find high quality food in Winter Park so worth the drive of 20 min to get away from mostly mediocre choices if you're willing to spend a minimum of $60 per person for glass of wine, main course only and tip.
The Tavern is now our go to spot when we ski Tabernash. We have been passing it for years and never really noticed it until a friend told us to try it out. Good food, generous portions, and nice service..Did I mention the martinis?!
Great food, a bit pricey for a family of 5, better suited for a night out with just the wife. Still, food was amazing and they don’t skimp on the portions. We’ll be back next time we’re in the area.
Excellent food & service! We visit every time we are in town and are never disappointed.
Our meal was amazing as always! First time I have had the French onion soup. One of the best I have tasted. The kitchen always turns out great dishes
Great food, wine and appetizers! Nicest restaurant in the Winter Park area!
Wonderful selection of flavorful food. Excellent service and quieter than Deno’s.
No modifications to food...what???
Nothing "normal" on menu...everything has some goofy flair. Mac * Cheese had mushrooms...you kidding me? Over priced eclectic food without any customizations.
Service that is worth a tip, IMHO, requires: water, coffee etc., never require having to ask to be filled, the staff know the menu because they have tasted the food, they move in and out without making a scene, they pull plates as needed and are friendly and professional. They do not, however, reach across your plate to fill drinks or pull plates and this was the only fail on our meal.
Great food but way too big of portions... downsize portions and then price
Excellent food, drinks, and atmosphere!
Unexpected high-quality restaurant in a town of 400. The menu was very creative, with everything from the mandatory Colorado staples of burgers and steaks to octopus. Everything was beautifully presented. Atmosphere was "mountain casual". The dining room is small, and it was filling up by the time we left around 7, so reservations are a must.
Last winter we went here while on a ski vacation and loved it, this year not so much. While the food was delicious, everything else was not. We expected more from a $500 dinner tab, and when I say more, I mean no catching the wait staff rolling their eyes while walking away from our table, numerous screw ups on what was delivered vs. what was ordered, actually knowing what the vegetable was(it was carrots, not spaghetti squash). Also, it was a Monday, so it wasn't like the restaurant was overly busy. Clearly they don't want our business, so we won't go back.
Our steaks temps came out flipped flopped.. they were not interested in fixing the on that was well done but they fixed the rare one.. they cooked it more.. however my sons steak was well done when it should of been rare.. it was late at night and close to closing but we expected more☹️
My husband and I discovered Tabernash Tavern four years ago during our first weekend away together. We were very impressed with the food and service that visit and really looked forward to going again; we certainly were not disappointed this time and consider it a very special place. One of our favorite things to share is a charcuterie board and theirs blew us away!
Delicious food, with excellent service. Steaks grilled to perfection; creative presentation and mouth-watering desserts. Never disappointed!!
We enjoyed the food, service and ambiance. However, the chef is inflexible and refuses to make any modifications to his menu items. This limits the choices and diners should know that they cannot ask to make even slight changes to any dishes.
The salmon and bacon was perfect! Food was amazing.
This is a wonderful place for a special date night. Great Bar: we had dinner in the restaurant part, then moved to the bar for an after dinner drink and carrot cake!
Great food, great service...sit in the bar with the kids, kids menu and very accommodating of families for such a nice restaurant
Best Ribeye I’ve had all year anywhere! Superb service and love the atmosphere. Special place I highly recommend based on my first visit — looking forward to returning. I travel this area once or twice a year and it is chalked up as one of my favorite finds of the new year.
Great staff and food. You won't leave hungry!!
Mediocre food and pricey. Good ambience and would be a fun spot to have a drink at the bar, but I don't recommend the food. Salad was overdressed, as were Brussels sprouts, steak was just okay, and the Bernaise sauce was meh.
Great food and cocktails in a really cozy setting. Good choice for a special night out!
I ordered the Koren short ribs. I can't tell you how under cooked they were. Should have been fork tender but I had trouble cutting them with a steak knife. Fatty and tough. I liked the pickles but nothing else on the plate. You should consider removing it from your menu. A friend ordered a burger and she liked that.
My husband and I first visited Tabernash Tavern 3 years ago and you served us RAW pork chops. We did not try you again until last Saturday Jan 13, 2018. I don't think we will be back.
The ambiance at Tabernash was great and the hostess was very accommodating to our party of 4. Two of us decided to split the sea bass special as it was very pricey. It came out on one dish and I separated it into two plates. The waitress said that it was not the” chef’s thing” to split the meal for us. It was cold so we sent both plates back after we tasted the sea bass. The waitress brought back the sea bass rewarmed along with the side dishes all on one plate! I had to divide already tasted food again!! Although the dish was excellent it was not the 8 oz as stated For the $52 cost. I think it is not cool to serve already served food on one plate. Our husbands’ Paella was very good.
I would go back here for Happpy Hour and hope for the best. It is the only name in town and I think they know it.
Our foursome enjoyed a lamb chop special, wild game meatballs and top sirloin all perfectly cooked. We all had salads with a lovely Elderberry vinaigrette. As frequent diners at Tabernash Tavern always wanting to try new dishes SO We also ordered a NYE Cassoulet which caught my eye for the clever replacement of french white beans with our native and traditional New Years Day lucky charm of black-eyed peas. This dish, for all its promise was disappointing- A thin flavorless broth, too much crumbled bacon, ham. But enough salt to kill any other flavors from duck or sausage. My raging thirst later that night had me wishing I sent it back.
Very disappointed in the service. Was New Year's Eve and took way too long to get our food. Table of 6 seated next to us and after us got their food before us. And very expensive. The porter house steak was pricey and mediocre.
We had a very enjoyable evening, the food and service were exceptional
The special was a buffalo steak that four in our party raved about! The Chef is great!
