Nice atmosphere and good food. We went after evening movie, it was quiet and easy-to-talk there. Will be back.
Easily able to book online with open table and had good choices of time options. Enjoyed the ambiance and the very good food of different plates and they came in good succession. Had great company present and easily able to talk across the table for conversation. Enjoyed my experience and would return again.
We enjoyed the food and the ambiance. But it was loud-it was difficult to have conversation.
Staff great. Patient with us.
First time there and it was a wonderful experience. Staff was friendly and knowledgable and food was delicious.
The place is really well kept, service is amazing, food is really good if you want to try Spanish cuisine, but I felt that the price was a little bit high for what you were getting, but not that much, this is still a place that I will come back and would recommend to anyone that wants to try something new or different
We loved the food. The flatbread was delicious, as was the soup. We will definately be back!
I enjoyed my first visit to Taberna Tapas. Good selection of tapas, service was friendly and competent. Good selection of draft beers and Spanish red wines. I will definitely be back.
Better than Mateo's but could be better. The Paella was by far the star dish of the night. It had amazing depth of flavor. Rice is cheap so, given the price, the portion could have been larger even for tapas restaurant. We also had the Portobella, Bistec, Skirt Steak, ham croquettes, mussels, Gambas and churros. The croquettes and Gambas were also very good. The mussels were the worst dish as they were served in a watery tomato sauce. The Portobella lacked flavor. The Bistec needed more of the wine reduction as it was a little dry. The churros were not cooked through. Overall a good dinner but they could improve presentation and flavor. Will return for the paella for sure.
Late afternoon on Easter Sunday, we had a nice combination of assorted plates including some amazing coquettes and paella Valencia. Great service, great food - we will be back for sure!
Online menu is very different than the actual menu. The food is very good, but everything abas gone up about $3 since the online menu was last posted
Great food. Great atmosphere. Sit by the window if you can. whole menu is great. Love the renovation
Taberna is where Durham people go for Tapas. The tourists can have Mateo —this is better!
Good food, great and friendly service. The rabo de mojo (oxtail) dish was particularly delicious!
Great experience overall. A little disappointed they were out of several items we wanted to try but the menu is extensive and we found alternatives that were delicious. We found the prices to be higher than average for the portion size and we frequently eat at tapas restaurants so we know what to expect.
Always great food and service!
Biggest issue is that almost all items cost several dollars higher than menu on their web site. Food was ok, service a bit slow.
Great experience, will definitely be back.
The food was mediocre at best. The bacon wrapped dates were good, but the paella looked like Uncle Ben's 90 second rice mixed with shrimp. There was no crust, which is essential to paella. The bartender took no care in making our drinks and one was undrinkable since it was twice the amount of gin (our waiter said the bartender wasn't paying attention). The octopus was slimy and smelled like low tide- a warning sign for seafood. The waiter seemed nervous and he had on so much cologne, I nearly had an asthma attack. The hostess looked as though she was going to kill herself at her next break and was not friendly at all. The one plus was that the food came quickly, but that is easy to do with low quality food. I will be surprised if it lasts another 3 months at this rate.
Love this place! Went with 4 of my girlfriends and we split 20 tapas, which were delicious! Also, Wednesday’s, the wine bottles are half off, so it made for a wonderful weeknight.
Great food and nice ambiance; good place for a conversation over a meal and drinks. The service was friendly and timely, too!
Nice table by the window watching the third Friday flow of pedestrians - our server was attentive without being bothersome, a good thing! Wine recommendation was on target and cocktails were enjoyed. Tried 6 dishes and all were good ; the best was the portobello, second was lamb chops-would have been exceptional if cooked Med rare as ordered. Everybody has trending Brussels sprouts and most chefs make them worth a repeat order - few count out five for $12. ——elsewhere great raw oysters can be had for that price. Assume the paella is house specialty as looked to be on many surrounding tables - ours was a little burnt tasting thus not a hit with us. Overall nice vibes, good crowd, pleasant experience, in-line @$55/( except BS’s) - kitchen a little off there game tonight .
Service was VERY slow. The first item we ordered wasn’t out as we were leaving, had to remind our server various times of our order and ended our meal with desserts that tasted like “mug-cake” and burnt coffee
Taberna was great before but even nicer since they expanded and remodeled. Still the same great food.
We ate dinner at Taberna Tapas before seeing a show at DPAC. The service was wonderful. Jennifer had great recommendations for us and was fun! The food was delicious. We had salmon, tuna, brussels sprouts, paella, and a delicious bread pudding for dessert.
High energy, vibrant ... interesting food; very good wines
We loved Taberna Tapas. We had a reservation and was seated promptly. Our waitress (sorry I forgot your name), was wonderful. She was knowledgable about the menu and offered delicious pairings. The cocktails were well made, the ambience is relaxing though it did get loud as the place filled up. We sampled many items on the menu...everything was delicious.
Food was great as usual, service was a little lacking, especially given the restaurant wasn't very busy. In her defense, it looked like the server had a trainee working with her. We also may be spoiled by Dan, who is usually our server and always provides awesome service. We love Taberna and Dan!
I really like this place. Love the ambiance. It's not really family friendly as far as seating goes. The food is good. They are small plates, no surprise there. The drinks are pretty good. The chimichurri is my favorite along with the tres mares paella. All of the servers are very friendly. This was my second visit and it surely won't be my last.
The food and service was great. Price was a little high for the way the dishes are served.
This was my 1st time coming here and will definitely come back. The wait staff was wonderful, friendly come a fast when needed and the food quality was terrific
Have been to Taverna several times. Paella is excellent. Enjoy!
Having eaten tapas in several cities where we thoroughly enjoyed, our expectations were high. However, we were very disappointed with the food overall. We had the meatballs which were hard and dry. The flank steak was the best but it was a bit over cooked and some pieces were burnt. The chicken was very overdone and somewhat reminded me of the turkey from the Griswold Christmas Vacation. All dishes were completely under seasoned. The wait staff did a good job and once we ordered it didn’t take too long to get the food to the table.
Another great night at taberna! We love the food and it just transports us back to Spain every time!! 💃🏻🇪🇸
Great food! Love the Tapas style for dinner!
Most highly recommended!👍👍👍👍👍
Well done Tapas place with some unique offerings. Many to choose so ask your server to help. We had the spicy Lamp sausage, a bifstec, a chicken with sweet potato and apple, and an oxtail plate. We also had a couple of the special toast pieces (like bruschetta) with toppings. The wine, beer and drink selection is quite nice. Overall excellent place...priced accordingly for downtown Durham hotspot. Enjoy.
Enjoyed a good meal with friends. Paella was excellent as was the skirt steak. Servers were very attentive!
Good expertise for out of towner
Food and Service always excellent. Friendly staff. Food is always well prepared. We have never had a dish we did not like!!
Dan was our attentive waiter and he had several food recommendations and wine pairings that were spot on! He suggested that the bacon wrapped cheese filled dates we were ordering be saved for our dessert as it a sweet and savory dish. This proved to be an excellent idea. He also suggested my wife and I use the buildings' rear entrance as we left to walk to the DPAC for an evening concert to shorten the distance. Dan said for us to use it once again upon our return later in the evening to get to our car which was parked on the street in front of Taberna Tapas. This was our first time dining here and Dan, the cooks, and the savory dishes chosen will bring us back and has already prompted us to recommend this dining spot to our friends.
