One of my favorite places, best tapas in Brookline!
The food was excellent! In particular, we enjoyed the Rabo de toro (oxtail) and the Chuletas de cordero (grilled lamb chops).
Excellent wine from Spain with Gambas Ajillo that is exquisite. The Pollo Ajillo was excellent and we all were commenting on it. As usual the Truffles finished off the meal perfdctly.
Service was good, but food was not so great.
Excellent food and drink. Spain is so close just on the corner
Everything was incredible! Great place and service!
Great ambiance and excellent service! Food was very good overall - and very authentic!
Make reservations and get a sherry or dessert wine
Consistently excellent---enjoyed the codfish balls, mushrooms with a duck egg, calms with corizo, and warmed goat cheese on a large toast. The bottle of albarino was also excellent.
We had a lovely Valentine's dinner at Taberna de Haro. The menu seemed pricey, but the portions turned out to be large for tapas, so it was actually fine. 2 tapas per person is pretty filling. They have a huge sherry selection, and my husband did a sherry flight, which he quite enjoyed. The restaurant itself I would say is nicer than casual, but not too fancy either. It was busy with an energetic atmosphere. There were some dishes here that I haven't seen at other tapas restaurants: rabbit cooked with a mole type sauce, veal sweetbreads sauteed with sherry, garlic, and butter. Both of these were quite delicious. I would recommend a visit.
Our server Reina was very attentive and the staff was friendly and helpful. The food was well made and delicious.
Taberna de Haro is by far and away one of my favorite dinner spots in Brookline. A perfect place for a date, reunion with friends, birthday celebration, or professional meeting; I have been to the restaurant myself for all of these ocassions. The food is consistently spectacular, and staff are always super helpful to recommend the perfect wine pairings. Often, the owner is there herself; she is the mastermind chef behind all ths dishes and the consummate sommelier. My favorite dishes include the chorizo with figs, the spinach with pine nuts and golden raisins, the eggplant (which comes with a light homemade cheese and a drizzle of honey, yum), the ham and cheese croquetes, and the tortilla española, but I could go on! Everything is wonderful, and the menu changes with the season, and sometimes even more often. Don't miss ordering a basket of the delicious, crusty bread with their special house olive oil, and if you have time to linger add a cheese plate with a few samples from the massive selection. The ambience is always lovely. The restaurant feels cozy, warm and intimate, almost like your dining in someone's home. Wait staff are so attentive, without being remotely intrusive, and make you feel like their most special guest. The location is right on the Boston/Brookline line, superconvenient to the MBTA Green Line and multiple bus routes. Walking distance from Kenmore, Fenway, and Coolidge Corner. Metered parking out front. Just, go!
The range of tapas and larger courses is very good. The wine list offers a very impressive array of Spanish wines, many of which are bargains. However the tables are rather small- our party of 4 felt cramped when food arrived.
A gem !
Transport yourself to Spain in a flash ! Everything about this place is spectacular, yet not pretentious.
There's a wide selection of dishes to share, all prepared with quality products.
There's an even wider selection of wines and the waiters will guide you and make you want to try everything.
I am French and I wish there was a French restaurant like Taberna.
LOVE IT !!! So authentic.
In town to take daughter on special night away from boarding school.
Stellar wine list, excellent service, delish tapas! Always a favorite.
Good neighborhood tapas restaurant with attentive service and a quiet environment for talking with friends. Some diners can get excited, but they are likely reacting, in part, to the warm ambiance and good tapas. Decent wine selection, too.
The food— especially the garlic shrimp— was wonderful. The service was warm and friendly, and attentive. I will definitely go back if I have another special occasion.
All the food was really salty! And a bit greasy. Have had much better experience in the past-
Great food! Love the commitment to excellent food and authenticity.
Thanks Deb great as always!!
Wonderfully usual . Returned with a friend from Spain who found the food as tasteful as back in Spain Debbie the owner was as gracious as usual. Love this place and can’t wait for summer to sit outdoors!!
This tapas restaurant should not be missed! A wide selection, all skillfully prepared, all delicious, and the prices are a very good value. The selection of Spanish wines and sherries is the best I have seen in the US.
We've been coming to Taberna de Haro for many, many years. Saturday night my husband and I came with another couple (also long-time customers) and a third couple (friends of theirs) from CT/NY. The evening reminded me of my first impression of this restaurant: everyone there always seems to be having a good time. 22 years later, that's still the case. Both the newcomers and those familiar with the restaurant had a great time! Many thanks for existing!!
The food, service and ambiance are always great here!
Incredible food and a sherry selection that has something for everyone. Dining here truly feels like a delightful trip to Spain!
All around perfect, as always!
We dined on a day where there was live music. The flamenco guitar player was fantastic and it created a great atmosphere. We had not been at the restaurant fir a few years and the food is so much better, really excellent right now.
New Year's Evening dinner out was wonderful! As always we started with our faves: patatas bravas, gambas and of course the artichokes and jamon. Washing everything down with tasty sangria, we finished with the frogs legs (OMG!) and the lamb (perfectly grilled). Absolutely smashing end of the year fete...looking forward to visiting again in 2020. Cheers! Salut!
New Years Eve was awesome at this place! Great food and great music. Can’t wait to come back!
New Years Eve!
Food was delicious. Wine selection very good. Service was very nice. Prices have really increased here..
We love this place but had some awkwardness for this visit . We had specified regular
Great, knowledgable + personal service. Great food. A little noisy (add some noise dampeners to the walls + ceiling + it'll be over the top).
As always our dining experience at Taberna de Haro was excellent. The food is always creative and the wine and sherry lists are incredible.
Always enjoy this restaurant. Fun atmosphere, terrific service and great food!
Great service and outstanding food! The wine list was impressive. Very noisy .... hard to carry on a conversation.
They were kind and saved us a pair of seats at the bar for dollar oysters!
Bill was a bit much at the end of the night, but I’ll probably be back to try some sherry.
The best authentic Tapas in town.Creative and well-executed tapas and larger dishes great for sharing. We had some old favorites and some new ones. Reliable stand-bys include the Torta Espanola (potato), fava beans with ham, and the spinach with garlic, pine nuts and raisins. The octopus and fresh anchovies also are excellent if you are with a group who will appreciate them. We tried the paella of the evening with shrimp, mushrooms, and chicken - yum. The wine list is extensive, and yet starting with a glass of dry sherry and having one or two glasses of red wine by the glass is just as fun. For those in the group preferring beer, there is a nice selection of draft beers. the service is informed and attentive. Definitively a neighborhood gem and should be a destination restaurantfor anyone in the city. We ate too much to think about dessert. (By the way, if you finish your meal by 8 pm, Tatte is next door!)
