The atmosphere was a bit “bed and breakfast” but the food was tremendous. Very simple menu but innovative and delicious. A pleasant surprise.

Lovely atmosphere, great food. The menu choices were just a little limited, but three people with very different tastes were able to find plenty to enjoy. It was nice to see it busy, even though tables were spaced well apart.

Came here for brunch. The scone was our favorite of everything we ordered. The shrimp and grits was ok. However, the space has a certain charm.

Tried to reserve an outdoor table, only to be told after arriving that reservations only work for indoor tables. Got seated directly under a dingy and extremely cold air conditioning unit, with loud background noise. So, when dressed for 85+ degree outdoor dining, we sat in a 50 degree space. The entrees were nonetheless exceptionally good. But we hurried to eat them to get out of the environment. I remember this place being much more pleasant inside in past years.

We had a great time at dinner. The food was awesome and the service was great. The duck confit salad was unbelievable. Overall we basically had the inside area to ourselves and it was a good time.

My husband and I did a day date at the Tabard Inn. The weekday brunch is always such a delight. We were able to sit in the hidden courtyard which was lovely. Food was delicious. We will be back for sure.

The restaurant itself is really nice and the help seem nice as well. We were seated in the outside area and it was a bit noisy but not bad. For lunch and as it is summer, we opted for salads. Partner had a Cesar salad that he thought had mostly the stalk or bottom part which is inedible. I had a mixed salad of greens that had squash, craisins, nuts, and what was supposed to be an orange Dijon dressing but, someone forgot to shake the bottle or something as all I got was the oil with no flavor at all....serious oil and a lot of it which did nothing for the salad....just heavy calories with no flavor. I ate about half of the salad picking out the “good stuff” and some oily greens. The waitress was busy and didn’t stop by until I had pushed the plate away and left the bill. No, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Went for a birthday dinner. From the bar to the dining area, the drinks and food were excellent. We had the trio of dips for an appetizer, and the pan seared soft shell crabs and oxtail ravioli as the entree. The waitress surprised us with a birthday card, a special desert and after dinner drinks. The Tabard Inn helped to make a fun and memorable birthday!

Ah! The novelty of eating out with friends again.
Though I have not been to The Tabard Inn for several years, and it has undergone an extensive renovation in that time I worked across the street from it in the mid-late 1970s so it feels like and old friend.
The Pros: Our service was excellent - attentive and patient. My companion has many dietary issues and they were accepted, understood and adapted to. (I eat everything.)
The food was creative and well prepared. I had the soft shell crab special and reveled in its varied flavors. The special desert, a chocolate and apricot cake, was a sweet treat.
The Con: The level of noise in the "outdoor" area was enough to really strain conversation for aging ears. Perhaps we should have sat inside, but I heard a steady buzz from that direction when going to the rest room.
Nonetheless, I will return for special meals.

This is a really interesting restaurant. The wood paneling and whimsical decor seem like you’ve stepped through the looking glass into a set from The Batman movies. Our dinner was superb including a stupendous 3- dip and chips selection, haddock served over a luscious broccoli risotto, and gorgeous duck breast with charred green onions. Good dinner service and a highly courteous staff. Would highly recommend!!

The food was very good, but uneven and somewhat disappointing since it used to be (pre-pandemic) outstanding. The oxtail ravioli was excellent but the strawberry arugula salad had little flavor and the apple cranberry crisp was dried out. Since we were the only ones indoors, it was quiet and easy to converse (the indoor dining room had been very noisy in the past) and service was very attentive.

It had been years since I'd had a meal at the Tabard Inn. With greater confidence in dining out post-vaccinations, my girlfriends and I decided to renew our brunch get togethers. I remembered that the Tabard Inn had a nice patio and decided to reserve space. A heads up - the tables on the patio are first come, first taken. Luckily, two of us got there a little early and were able to snag a patio table. The ambiance is great with patio tabes and umbrellas, lots of greenery and a feeling that you are not in a busy city. The service was wonderful - right from the gentleman who welcomed us to the server, who was helpful in determining our choices. The food was tasty and the helpings large. Unlike my brunch companions, I ate all of my meal (shrimp and grits) and was more than satiated. Good coffee too. We will certainly be returning.

Excellent service. The food ranged from excellent (the burrata and the shrimp appetizers and the chicken and halibut main courses) to the modest (ceasar salad, ravioli with oxtail). Decent and well-priced wine list. Our table was in a small room with a very noisy large table of people. Fortunately, they left after 30 minutes.

We celebrated a birthday with brunch, and everything was fantastic. The service was wonderful, the food delicious, and the ambiance lovely. It was very hot outside, so I wouldn't sit on the patio on a day like that again, but it was very beautiful. I'd like to say a special thank you to the server who helped get a cold drink to go to a person in our party who wasn't feeling well from the heat. Above and beyond and very much appreciated!

We enjoyed the charm of the Tabard inn for our overnight stay and meals (dinner and breakfast). The staff was very attentive and caring; the food was delightful; our room was charming and appropriately ecclectic; we enjoyed our end-of-day whiskey in the lounge. The location is excellent and quiet. There were a few exuberant guests singing (joyfully and on-key, perhaps a possibility of the Tabard alone!) in a neighboring room until about midnight, but perhaps that is part of the charm. We'll be back.

We booked a table for 6 during lunchtime to celebrate my wedding. I called a week in advance to ask for a private room or a patio. They said the patio was first come first serve but they would accommodate me if it becomes available but they can reserve a private dining area. What I didn't expect is that they wanted to seat me in the middle of the restaurant as I was wearing my wedding dress. When we pushed back they accommodated us in one a private dining area in the upper level. That's fine but why have us complain to get it?

Moreover, we notified the restaurant that we had a service animal for a person visiting from out of town. When we arrived, the employee asked to see a supporting document and we provided it immediately in order to seat everyone promptly. But this is something that you should know, according to the ADA, employees at a business "are not allowed to request any documentation" for a service dog. The American Disability Act (ADA) prohibits both public and private businesses from discriminating against people with disabilities."--- Please educate your staff. I will never recommend this restaurant again to anyone I know and I will not be returning.
