The offerings at the Tabard Inn are good but not great - no James Beard award winners here. On a recent visit our food was overly salted. Diners might enjoy this place for it's charm but don't expect to be wowed by the food.

What a lovely place, with considerate, caring service. I never felt hurried. Delicious Caesar salad. I ordered a biscuit on the side, which was delicious as well. My friend enjoyed the Swiss cheese omelette. Eating in the garden room was quiet and perfect for conversation. (I’m so tired of restaurants where you can’t have a quiet conversation.) It’s a beautiful airy light-filled room with charming decor. I will definitely come back to this restaurant.

The Tabard Inn consistently delivers our favorite brunch in DC. Don’t miss the donuts to start! The eggs Benedict were perfect but you’ll be delighted with any of the menu items. Opt for a table on the covered patio for a lovely setting.

Have been going here for years when in DC. It is a classic but this time food mediocre, service too. We were in small upstairs room and table behind us had some really loud guys. Had to lean in to hear our conversation. Disappointing.

We had out first date here 30 years ago and got married here, so it was very special for us to be back. The service remains exceptional, the ambience too, and the noises level is low— such a treat these days. One thing about the food— very few (only one) vegetarian options. And at the end they made me put it in a box myself— I was surprised by that. But these are minor things— we had a wonderful wonderful time!

What a pleasant surprise! My wife and I were looking for a place for brunch, before the long day of playing tourist ahead of us. The food was exceptional - I had the corned beef hash Tabard Inn style and my carb loving wife got the chicken and waffles. Both were excellent (we are from New Orleans, so are genuine foodies). We ate in the outdoor garden, which was cozy and ambient noise was minimal. We are heading back for cocktails in their cozy bar room soon!

The cocktails and first courses were very enjoyable but the meal went downhill from there. We ordered the seafood special of a soft shell crab on a bed of fettuccine and seafood. With those ingredients to work with it should have been a winner but it was not. The entrée was very overcooked. The crab was so overdone it was just a crispy mess. I won’t be back. The atmosphere was kind of blah and the A/C was not working very well.

This was not my first visit to the Tabard Inn and I recalled the food being very good but it really was superb on this visit. Ambience was perfect for a date - very romantic. Pricey but that is how it goes. One minor complaint - chairs could be a bit more comfortable.

The Tabard Inn was wonderfully familiar after a long time away during much of the pandemic. Three of us were there for brunch. I had steak and eggs, and the steak was perfectly rare, as requested, and delicious. We also had chicken and waffle, and the corned beef hash. Both were good. Staff were responsive, efficient and professional. It was so good to be back to Tabard Inn.

Loved our evening at The Tabard Inn. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. If you can get a table outside, it's lovely - but the tables inside are wonderful too. We had lunch inside recently and the ambiance is cozy and fun.

Great place, have not been here in a few years. Happy I chose the Tabard Inn to celebrate a family members birthday. Great customer service, wait staff was attentive, timely, not pushy and had great attitude - pleasant person to work with. Will be back again and the price was comparable for the serving size. Plus we were surprised to have received a "Happy Birthday card, famous donuts and a birthday candle to celebrate. All little detailed things were greatly appreciated.

Overall we loved Sunday brunch this past Sunday. We got to sit outside which was still enclosed but lovely. The photos was really good. I had the churro chicken and waffles and my husband had the corned beef hash. The brussels sprouts in the has threw us in the beginning but they were delightful addition. And with chunked corned beef used, you knew it didn't come from a can. The chicken and waffles had great flavor. They used chicken thighs instead of tenders or breast meat which was a fantastic change up. I only had two "complaints" of the experience. #1 service. It seemed in my opinion a bit slow. We were sitting for 5 minutes before the server came to greet us (since waiting table I tend to look at my watch for timing, old habits are hard to break). By then we knew what we wanted to drink and order for food, but our server seemed to only do one at a time. With a good amount of table in the outdoor section full, there didn't seem to be alot of urgency on the staff. And this brings me to #2 my food wasn't that hot. By the time the waffle got to the table it had begun to cool. So it wasn't as crispy as a waffle should have been and it started to get rubbery from cooling. The flavor was still there so i ate it!

My wife and I went to celebrate an anniversary. Our experience was mostly positive, but did not meet the expectations I associate with a good restaurant with these prices. Service after were seated was prompt and good. After drinks we had the duck breast salad and quail appetizers, both excellent. My wife had the market fish (grouper) served on rice and vegetables, also very good. I ordered the risotto with vegetables. I expected creamy and tasty. It was under cooked and lacked flavor. Then we waited. Eventually I flagged down a waiter, not ours, to ask for a check. Our waitress arrived a few minutes later with complementary prosecco. The yes/no recommendation does not work this time. The answer is maybe. Great location, good ambiance, mostly good food. The place could be very good.

Saturday brunch at the Tabard Inn is a delight. The food is delicious and the ambiance so lively. Note that you have to know your dining party as the noise level is higher in the small dining room than in the first level main indoor room. We had to be moved from the former section to the latter and it made our brunch perfect. Many thanks to the hosts who made that happen. Our last time at the Tabard Inn, we ate in the outdoor section which is wonderful. After eating in the first level main indoor room, I can add that it is equally wonderful. There are decorated sectional room dividers that are positioned between tables to give more privacy and the keeps the conversation to your own party. Make sure you try the daily scone and the donut - your dining party will thank you. Also - a recommendation for the Corned Beef Hash. It was moist and flavorful!

Very good burger, fries were okay - need to be crispier, perhaps double-fried. The outside cortyard is a nice respite in the neighborhood and is shaded for those bright summer days. Attentive but discrete staff. Payment was handled effortlessly.
