An excellent establishment in the Historic District. Looking forward to the fireplace this autumn again!
The Tabard is elegant without being stuffy or pretentious. The brunch menu offered traditional dishes (eggs benedict) with green options (spinach) plus homemade biscuits!
The courtyard was a cool and visually interesting place to eat. I'll be sure to come back again.
Disappointed that a $45 ribeye was actually beef strips
This is one of our favorite places to dine, inside or out, or just have a drink in the “living room”. The ambiance right now is of course not the best but the food and service totally compensates for this temporary situation. Highly recommend.
Always a pleasure eating in the patio!!!!
We were greeted in a friendly manner for our Sunday brunch. The service was excellent, our waitress was friendly and attentive; this sentiment extends to all the staff we encountered. The food portions were appropriate. We did not feel rushed while dining.
Overall I would highly recommend The Tabard Inn as a brunch destination.
All Protocols were followed, pleasant staff but as it was Mother’s Day, there were no flowers on the tables or anywhere , so on a cloudy chilly day the dining room was lacking in charm.
We loved the location, the decor, the food and the service. Would definitely return. The only problem was that it was a cool day and they had little or no heat in the area that we were in. Other than that, we recommend.
Always a winner! The food is so consistently good here. You would be missing out if you did not try their seasonal scallops. They are perfection, every time!
Authentic DC in this hidden gem. Had dinner on the patio on a recent evening. Friendly, excellent service and a reliably good menu. Always a special place to go.
I ate 4 meals at this restaurant while staying at the Inn. Every time I though of venturing to another restaurant, I was reminded at what pleasant experience I had at this restaurant. I cant wait to come back and visit!!
Cute place, good food and good service. Would go back!
Our meal was excellent, well presented and prepared.
I love the Tabard Inn - the food is delicious, the atmosphere unparalleled, and the service wonderful. I just wish the limited menu didn’t have so many dishes with bacon that overwhelms the other flavors. That’s my only critique. (If you can’t ever get enough bacon you will be in hog heaven :)
Wonderful restaurant and inn with great and friendly staff. Would absolutely return to try more. Highly recommend this place.
Another fun and excellent dining experience--excellent choices, well prepared food, and outstanding service!
I've been to the Tabard Inn once before for lunch and sat inside (a couple of years ago), but due to COVID we were outside on the inside patio I guess...it was just lovely...like a secret garden. My boss was not only impressed, but would really like to frequent more often. Our breakfast was delicious...he had egg white omelet w/spinach and goat cheese...he loved the fact he could have goat cheese. I have the spinach eggs benedict and it was equally as good.
Thanks so much for making breakfast great!
Ordered the chicken & churro waffles! Highly recommend.
Tabard Inn is the perfect hidden jewel in the center of Washington. The outdoor, covered patio is perfect both day and night!
I have always loved Tabard Inn. It’s one of my favorite places in DC. The atmosphere really suffers since the lounge and bar are closed for the covid restrictions. The service and food is still great.
I opted for the burger and was surprised that the restaurant had no tomatoes, which is one of the main components of a burger. I was told that they are not in season which is no longer a reason.
The place was nice, service good, but the food was very dissappointing. Both the rissotto and the ravioli were cold and had no flavor.
I've been dining here since the mid 80s and I love this place. It's like being transported to old world or to Europe. I love sitting in the patio area. The Tabard Inn is about 100 years old and is still an operating inn.
Love, love, love the ambience inside and out. Love the expanded brunch menu. One of my top favorite and it is employee owned too!
Was great service and delicious food!
I was happily surprised by how beautiful Tabard Inn's patio was. I went with two friends and we all felt we had teleported to Italy. The appetizer, dinner and dessert were all exquisite. The drinks were expertly crafted. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a cute place to dine.
Excellent food. Top 5 shrimp n grits that I've ever had. Very unsuspecting dinner experience.
We love the ambience, and had not been to the Tabard Inn in 30 years. However, the lunch food was uninspiring. The Oyster Po Boys had almost no oysters. The cheese grits were tasteless. The burger was very good.
The courtyard of the Tabard Inn is one of Washington's best locations. I love the brunch-for-lunch items on the menu and the pecan/chocolate tart was delish.
Amazing night! Our first dinner out in 1 year since the pandemic started. Patio was beautiful as always! Food amazing!
Delicious food & drinks. Great service & atmosphere. Couldn’t ask for a better evening.
The Tabard has undergone renovation and looks terrific. The outdoor seating was socially distanced with excellent service. The steak was excellent with a wine-morel reduction.
I was totally in love with Tabard. I guess they have enough patrons now so the service while still good is not the quality I was expecting. The food is still great. Unfortunately I have to take a star off because the maitre d' asked us to leave so he could accommodate other guests! I was appalled. We were there for less than an hour and a half. We both had a full meal and salad (price was over $135). We decided not to have dessert but were finishing up our conversation and paid the bill. Guess we were just in the way. He could have offered us the option to move to the sitting or bar area, or even cajoled us with a drink or sweet...but to simply ask us to leave. Now that is low class! Too many restaurants in DC to be treated like that! Sad, I used to tell everyone it was my favorite restaurant during COVID. Now, Tabard is off my list!
Food was not hot when it came out. Two orders out of four were wrong.
We had lunch there the previous day and it was excellent.
Excellent all around. Thanks to dan and David. Great place.
I have been a customer at the Tabard Inn for over 30 years thru all its transitions. The adjustments it has made to ensure safety during a pandemic have enhanced its wonderful ambience. The food remains really good as always. One small complaint is that the servers we were assigned seemed to be trying to rush us through our meal. I understand that we should limit our time at restaurants to curb the risk of infection, but I suggest the servers tone down their sense of urgency.
I always have a positive experience here. The service is seamless and seems effortless.
Lovely Sunday brunch. Everything, from the Mimosas to the fresh donuts, was superb!
Was told this was the brunch to be at..., very underwhelmed. Food was under seasoned or poorly done. I sent bacon back! It tasted like propane. Everything needed salt. Brussels were best part. Disappointed we spent Easter brunch here
