Excellent food. Top 5 shrimp n grits that I've ever had. Very unsuspecting dinner experience.
The courtyard of the Tabard Inn is one of Washington's best locations. I love the brunch-for-lunch items on the menu and the pecan/chocolate tart was delish.
Amazing night! Our first dinner out in 1 year since the pandemic started. Patio was beautiful as always! Food amazing!
Delicious food & drinks. Great service & atmosphere. Couldn’t ask for a better evening.
The Tabard has undergone renovation and looks terrific. The outdoor seating was socially distanced with excellent service. The steak was excellent with a wine-morel reduction.
I was totally in love with Tabard. I guess they have enough patrons now so the service while still good is not the quality I was expecting. The food is still great. Unfortunately I have to take a star off because the maitre d' asked us to leave so he could accommodate other guests! I was appalled. We were there for less than an hour and a half. We both had a full meal and salad (price was over $135). We decided not to have dessert but were finishing up our conversation and paid the bill. Guess we were just in the way. He could have offered us the option to move to the sitting or bar area, or even cajoled us with a drink or sweet...but to simply ask us to leave. Now that is low class! Too many restaurants in DC to be treated like that! Sad, I used to tell everyone it was my favorite restaurant during COVID. Now, Tabard is off my list!
Food was not hot when it came out. Two orders out of four were wrong.
We had lunch there the previous day and it was excellent.
Excellent all around. Thanks to dan and David. Great place.
I have been a customer at the Tabard Inn for over 30 years thru all its transitions. The adjustments it has made to ensure safety during a pandemic have enhanced its wonderful ambience. The food remains really good as always. One small complaint is that the servers we were assigned seemed to be trying to rush us through our meal. I understand that we should limit our time at restaurants to curb the risk of infection, but I suggest the servers tone down their sense of urgency.
I always have a positive experience here. The service is seamless and seems effortless.
Lovely Sunday brunch. Everything, from the Mimosas to the fresh donuts, was superb!
Was told this was the brunch to be at..., very underwhelmed. Food was under seasoned or poorly done. I sent bacon back! It tasted like propane. Everything needed salt. Brussels were best part. Disappointed we spent Easter brunch here
Great Easter brunch on the sidewalk in front of Tabard. Thank you!
Great Service, Great food. We felt safe on their patio and thought that they are doing a good job following COVID protocols.
This was our favorite stop in DC. The food was incredible, the service attentive, and the patio is a gorgeous place to have a meal. We will be back!
Tabard Inn is always a great experience. The food is tasty and the inn is lovely.
I've always loved the Tabard but the food this visit was not very good. We both left disappointed although the donut and biscuit were the bomb.
Wedding anniversary
everything is always fantastic, food is great, service is superb.
Superb food, excellent service, quiet distanced atmosphere with great outside ventilation in the courtyard. Overall just about perfect.
Tabard inn is an untapped jewel. Best steak I’ve had in along time. And unlike The Palm, they know how to cook a steak. Lovely fruit crumble dessert with homemade ice cream was offered complimentary to our surprise, as the waiter knew we were celebrating.
I'm hesitant to write a public review because I don't want this hidden gem to become too popular. The Tabard Inn has an ideal "interior courtyard" that allows you to eat with full outdoor ventilation while being sheltered from both adverse weather and sidewalk traffic. This has become especially welcome under DC's Covid environment.
As always it was great. Sitting outside is a real special treat for Washington dining. Been coming here since high school which in my case is almost 50 years! Geez that’s hard to think about!! But there’s a reason. The food is consistently good and I know many chefs got their stores here. It’s a lovely dining room in an eclectic hotel setting. Nice part of town too. Well worth a visit
We love the tabard inn!!
Our server was excellent and made great wine pairing suggestions. Ambiance was lovely, great outdoor dining and felt very safe with Covid protocols.
I go here for the ambiance and will continue to go back time and time again. (I would rate the ambiance a 6 if I could!) There are some great menu options, but the food menu could be longer and maybe include fewer deep fried items. Otherwise, I can’t complain. Walk around the hotel afterward and feel like a part of history!
The food never disappoints. 2nd pot of hot water (with tea bag already in it!) was delivered without asking for it. A friend and I had a delightful Sunday brunch on the patio.
We had a lovely brunch. The staff were extremely helpful, moving us to a patio table once it became available, even though we had already ordered. Great food... the Tabard doughnut was a yummy end to a satisfying brunch.
Great service. Lovely food. You feel like you are in Europe.
I was visiting DC for the weekend with my girlfriend from NJ, and wanted to go somewhere special for brunch. It was a perfect spring day to sit out in the courtyard. Our waiter was nice and efficient. The food was very good. We enjoyed ourselves ,and the environment.
Love this place. Always have a good time. The necessity of spacing the tables has taken some energy out of the room but we understand and appreciate the precautions. Food and service lovely as always.
Fabulous food and service in a historic landmark. Will go back again soon!
Greeted & Seated swiftly!! Food was AMAZING!!! The staff was so pleasant and professional! A true hidden gem! I will be back!
If you're in DC and want a unique experience stay at the penthouse at the Tabard Inn. There's no way to describe it other than eclectic and extremely charming. Up five flights of stairs (no elevator) and into a world of collected art, furniture, and atmosphere. The rest of the Inn is also atmospheric and quaint, and an excellent location within the city. The Restaurant was also excellent, and again very well appointed. Try the roast pork and sit close to the disembodied lady in the middle. Hope to go back to where many pilgrims have started their journey through the years!
My fiancé and I celebrated our engagement and the staff and management went out of their way to make us feel special and accommodate us. Very grateful for the wonderful hospitality and experience!
Very nice brunch menu. If you are looking for a spot that's "outside dining" in an indoor space, this is it.
Food was good
Ambiance nice
Service good
The new covered outdoor area is really wonderful. The service was fair and the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. I'm sure that it's not easy to gauge business with covid.
Tabard Inn is great as always. Brunch menu needs to be expanded now that the numbers will be going up (w/vaccinations).
I would love to see quiche back on the menu.
We go here almost every weekend. Elena the hostess and James our waiter are awesome! Food is excellent and it is the best Waffles and Chocolate chip pancake!
