My girlfriend and I, who haven’t really been dining out because of the ongoing pandemic, wanted to do something besides just the usual takeout for Valentine’s Day. We settled on a dinner reservation at the Tabard Inn and definitely weren’t disappointed! Great food (three course menu for the Valentine’s Day occasion), great service (our server, James, was incredible), and we were seated in the back patio and able to stay warm throughout dinner thanks to the heaters above. Overall, we both had a very pleasant experience, and we’d certainly consider dining out again at the Tabard Inn!
My partner and I ate at the Tabard Inn for Valentines Day and it was a wonderful experience. The service was great with the staff being very friendly and attentive. We ate on the terrace which had a nice ambient atmosphere. Definitely recommend for a date night.
We had a fabulous time. It was a special night "Valentine's" and Tabard Inn did not disappoint us. The history of the hotel and food was superior. We are coming back.
Old school charm type of restaurant! Food was pretty good. Our table was a table with 2 church pews which was uncomfortable because we were so far from the table. There was also a draft of cold air the whole time so we kept our jackets on for the whole meal! Would go back for brunch but probably not dinner again!
There's nothing like the Tabard hotel or restaurant in Washington. The hotel is the only place I will stay, if I have a choice. The menu is not extensive but the food is excellent. Wonderful atmosphere and ambiance.
Amazing as usual and very safe Covid precautions
What a wonderful experience overall!!!
Such a drag dining experience. Food was below average and the service was terrible.
Wonderful, but somewhat eerie, experience due to Covid. We had a very safe feeling corner table, separated by many feet from the next. A fascinating menu -- hard to choose so diverse. We loved the fresh scones and biscuits. Then the shrimp and grits were well balanced, tasty and so abundant. But the biggest happy surprise was the duck confit salad, which seemed to have a whole duck's worth of crispy meat and a tangy, delightful dressing the the greens. Unfortunately no room for the desserts. Glad you are surviving and adapting.
Always love the food and the vibe. Never disappointed.
Excellent brunch, especially the donuts! Quiet, private, covid-friendly dining.
Exquisite. Everything from the salad to the entrees made our night. I didn’t feel like a cocktail or wine and loved their hibiscus sparkling soda.
Fantastic, quiet but ambient vibes for brunch. Our server was excellent!
I loved coming back to this wonderful place for dinner. Oxtail soup was superb as was the duck and the nights special of Cod. Brussel sprouts were as good as they can be.
This was a great find in DC. The food was great and the atmosphere was such a treat. Dining was on a patio but there were skylights and the temperature was very comfortable. The matriarch, Fritzi, came by and she was a delight to meet. I highly recommend.
Very cool ambiance on their back patio, and an eclectic place overall. The food was above average and the service was great. Look forward to coming back post COVID.
I love tabard inn. Great place for outdoor dinning in a pandemic. I hate eating out on the side walk so happy I found this place on Instagram. The staff are always nice and accommodating. Most importantly the heaters work Everytime!!!!!!
This place was SO WONDERFUL. Such a gorgeous location to celebrate my mom's birthday. They took every effort to make it special & the COVID precautions were excellent. Staff was fantastic and the food was delicious. THANK YOU!
Ambiance was ok considering COVID, food was delicious and our waiter was awesome.
Expensive? Absolutely. Well prepared food? It was solid. A warm place to eat during DC's Covid-19 prohibitions?? Yup, this is the main reason we picked the Tabar Inn.
We sat in their huge outdoor patio with lots of space and privacy between tables. The waiter was knowledgeable and courteous. The food from the dips, to the oxtail soup, to the scallops, to the adobo chicken were all amazing!
We absolutely loved the patio, it's a very enjoyable space! We ordered biscuits to start which were absolutely delicious. The spinach eggs benedict were good. The hostess was extremely friendly and accommodating!
Once again, terrific greeter and table service, with great food and a safe setting with overhead heat in this impossible time for eating out
Great place during social distancing with COVID, sink before you walk in and heat lamps on the patio. Great find - weekday breakfast/brunch.
I was disappointed with the rib-eye. It was tough but n places.
The Tabard Inn was a hidden gem—had Open Table not suggested it for us, I would not have tried. The decor was arts & crafts with some Oriental overtones and the cuisine reflected this. I had the halibut special and my husband had the scallops and we were wowed by the tastes. Mayor Bowser had just decreased the dining numbers to 25% of capacity, so we had social distance—in fact we were in a room of our own. Server James C. Was most attentive and complemented us two glasses of champagne in honor of our anniversary. We’ll be back!
Wonderful hole-in-the-wall hotel/restaurant in the Dupont neighborhood! Second time dining here and will definitely be back. Tell your friends to stay here and eat here if they visit DC!
Always enjoy Tabard Inn, even now with partial capacity and extra safety measures. Our brunch food was wonderful, and it was a welcome challenge to decide among all the yummy-sounding options.
This was a celebration, so I was disappointed half of the sparkling wines on the menu weren’t available. Service a bit slower than normal times.
I hadn't been to the Tabard Inn for a long time, but a special occasion brought me back and I'm so glad it did. Warm welcoming service, absolute safety protocols, innovative and tasty craft cocktails and delicious food. Everything you want to make an important anniversary even more memorable.
The food was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend the Chicken and Churros waffle. Standout weekday breakfast in a quaint historic Inn.
Wish we got to sit on the patio but none the less, amazing experience.
My friend and I ate inside- completely socially distanced at our table and to other tables. Great service, great food!
My new favorite restaurant in DC. Excellent food with a very professional staff. I especially enjoyed the patio seating with the stone sculpture and candles although my most recent visit I was told it was not available because of lack of heaters (as best as I recall). Whether downstairs or in one of the backrooms, it is a very intimate setting. Perfect for a date night! My last experience, however, we were seated in an area where it was almost too dark. When our food came out it was DELICIOUS but I could hardly see what I was eating which was unfortunate because I would have loved to share a photo of it as a way to promote the restaurant. I asked for a candle for our table but was told they could not accommodate because of COVID restrictions(?) To the best of my knowledge that was the response (server's accent was a little thick). Despite this minor inconvenience, it remains my favorite establishment and I look forward to returning. Please visit it as well!
Because weather made outdoor seating infeasible, the Tabard Inn was able to successfully accommodate my party of two indoors in a socially-distant setting. The quality of the food and service remained at the high level they have always maintained.
Wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at the Tabard, as expected. Beautiful setting, gracious service, good food- only fault was that some of the dishes came out less than piping hot. We were too hungry to turn them around. All good. I always look forward to coming here, and can't wait for the lounge and the jazz to come back.
Turkey dinner entree came without gravy
The quality and preparation of the food was excellent and the service outstanding. I understand that things are different this year due to Covid, but the ambiance suffered because there was no tablecloth and the bread was wrapped in cellophane. This made it feel like we were dining on an airplane. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and your attentive staff.
We discover this little place andall was fine : Very good cuisine, noce service and patio quite and very confortable
Thanksgiving meal was good.
Overpriced for what you got.
Love Tabard in. But it was just a good meal. Not fantastic like I have come to expect.
Amazing, as always. Tastefully eccentric!
