    Lovely restaurant. The service was slow; we were seated for about 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged we were there. We ordered several appetizers and a bottle of wine; all were very good. Highly recommend for the food. The lounge area looked nice; will go back next time we are in DC.

    It is too loud to be able to hear. We were a group of 6 and we could not hear one another. The Tabard Inn is great for couples who can sit close to talk to each other, but not for groups.

    Since moving to DC over 20 years ago, we probably been to Tabard Inn at least 20+ times. Overall a very decent experience; however, some of our food was significantly lacking depth/flavor. We realize that things a bit different post pandemic, but a few of the dishes we had were simply bland and just there (not bad, but not great either). We’ll give them a year to see if they get back to their normal quality level. Service was great, just the food was noticeably off. On a side note, we recently had a wonderful experience at The Iron Gate, which is directly across the street.

    The food and service have seriously gone down hill. Used to love this restaurant. The service took forever, the oysters were awful, and their chicken sandwich is a chicken thigh that was mostly fat. Just not good at all.

    The pancakes were light & fluffy. My husband was not as pleased with his. He got the scrambled eggs with everything. Said the eggs were dry & more like an omelet.

    We never miss an opportunity to eat breakfast at the Tabard when in DC! The food was delicious and the service outstanding. They even brought out birthday donuts with a candle for my wife! Planning to come back for dinner next time!

    My new favorite place in DC! Loved the ambience of the cocktail lounge. Dining room was charming. Service was perfect. And the food was incredible - the butternut squash soup with gnocchi was the standout but every bite on the table was wonderful (and my party of 4 tasted 9 dishes).

    We reserved a table for two at $220 -- $110 per person. This amount was NOT deducted from our tab. This amount made the total bill add up to close to $800. One cocktail, 1/2 bottle of wine, prix fixe menu, and a 20% tip for an excellent wait person.

    Excellent experience all around. The chef even came to our table to check in on us which made the experience even more special and gave it a personal touch. We tried a few cocktails which were all great. Highly recommend the crab and red pepper beignets, and the mushroom tart. Our table got the scallop, salmon, and coq au vin, which were all excellent. We shared a couple different desserts - my personal favorite was the sorbet semi freddo - flavorful and unique. Close second wine the chocolate mouse with red wine sauce. Overall, delightful experience and plan to come back regularly.

    Everything was high quality from the cocktails through appetizers and entrees to dessert. Best were the red pepper beignets, sous vide salmon, and divine chocolate cremeux dessert. We also had a wonderful knowledgeable and patient server, John, and other lovely, attentive but not intrusive staff. Love the ambience of the cozy room with mostly Japanese art. Highly recommended!

    I will always return to the Tabard, the Little Inn That Could - and that can fine tune some dishes. So cozy and friendly and always striving. Drop that crazy smokey bacon on the Coq au Vin. The rolls now being served are addictive. Fantastic service as always.

    Food was very disappointing. The pancakes were decent, but the chicken from the chicken and donuts was burnt. They sent out another order and a few pieces were raw and tasted like they were cooked in burnt grease. Management took it off the bill, as they should have. The latkes and crab gravy left a lot to be desired. More gravy, crab (and flavor) would have been nice to match the large potion of latkes and $28 price point. Service was fine overall and it is a cozy restaurant. However, I would never return, unfortunately.

    Wait staff and hosts were outstanding— professional, accommodating and attentive. Dinner menu was basic – would have expected each dish to be outstanding, given the limited menu – lamb was tender but overdone – squash was undercooked and hard, flavors of lamb dish forgettable. Frise salad lovely flavors but a bit overdressed and soggy. Husband enjoyed the salmon sorrel— and crab appetizer. Overall meal was OK but not memorable — can’t compete with other restaurants in the area.

    This restaurant is a rare gem in dc. Tucked away and charming. Service was fairly attentive. Yet I ordered a salad with a poached egg that came out gelatinous and basically raw. I waited about 10+ minutes for it to come back. This time it was poached perfectly (versus this odd way the server tried to explain that they poach it in the shell and then take it out which failed). By then my guests meal was cold and I sat there awkwardly watching her wait. While various spills apologized while I waited nothing was done to offset this - nothing brought over as. A nice touch while waiting, a discount on the bill or anything. Will still come back but was disappointed. I know things happen in kitchens but it is how it is dealt with that matters.

    I have been coming here for at least 20 years from out of the area. My favorite has always been the Eggs Benedict. It eventually became the only place I would order it, because no restaurant matched it for quality. I am very disappointed that it is no longer on the menu.

    Loved the entire experience. The intimate dining room was cozy and comfortable and the staff was super friendly. We even met the new Chef de Cuisine. Thoroughly enjoyed every bite of the Corn and Crabmeat Beignet appetizer. My vegetarian guest loved her Squash Main Course and my trout was delicious. Already looking forward to going back again!
