   Lunch at the Tabard Inn, particularly during Spring, is always a treat. The patio dining area provides a great combination of outdoor ambiance and a roof (in case it rains). The menu can be limited, but the food is excellent and almost always very well prepared.

   Leisurely lunch with delicious shrimp and grits, crispy pork belly sandwich and salmon salad. Definitely a hidden gem.

   I have been coming to tabard in for the last 20 years mostly for branch and to celebrate bdays with friends And loved ones . This time I decided to try dinner and to celebrate my own bday . I asked for a cosy quiet table which I got one in the courtyard which is now covered and not as lovely and green as it used to be . Even though the inside dining felt more appropriate for dinner , the courtyard was very bare without a candle or flowers at the table which it made it feel more I was dining in beer garden . Restaurant was busy and the fact that there were only 2 waiters , made things more slow …especially when you requested something to be brought to you . Appetizers were excellent, main course was ok but deserts were not fresh and disappointed . Did we had a pleasant time , yes Did it felt like a special night to celebrate a bday -No! Would I return back to the restaurant-yes but most likely for branch , and I will only and definitely will sit indoors .

   I last was here some 15yrs ago and still re the scrum doughnuts and today those doughnuts were still divine

   Dined solo for lunch and had the chicken sandwich and fries. Sandwich was fine but unexceptional, and lacked seasoning. Duck fat fries were good and crispy when fresh but as they cooled became less appealing, with a heavy texture and slightly off taste from the frying oil. Setting is unique and interesting, with historical decor and idiosyncratic design. Worth a visit but I likely wouldn’t return for the food alone.

   Everything would have been perfect had they not run out of some of the items on the buffet and if it had been replenished in a more timely fashion. I think the restaurant could possibly have been understaffed but it was a bit disappointing, as we had our large family joining us and often had to wait for food to be replenished. Our server was very friendly and professional but due to the small number of staff to customer ratio he was unable to get to us--we never even placed drink orders! Overall delicious as usual and we will return.

   Excellent food and service. We had Easter brunch and enjoyed shrimp and grits, caesar salad and mimosas.

    What a great first dinner in DC! Patio was lovely, wine and burrata were delicious, as was the steak and salmon. Smashed potatoes were amazing! Definitely recommend.
