The Tabard Inn is a charming gem tucked away in the heart of DC. It delivers on flavor and experience. From the moment we walked in, the warm and attentive service—especially from Paola—set the tone for a lovely visit. The food? Outstanding. You must try the house-made donuts—light, pillowy, and perfectly fried. The Tabard Inn Breakfast Sandwich is hearty and flavorful, a great way to start your day. For something more savory, the shrimp and grits are excellent: creamy, well-seasoned, and comforting. Drink-wise, everything we tried—both alcoholic and non-alcoholic—was fresh, balanced, and incredibly refreshing, especially welcome on a hot and humid DC day. The only minor drawback is the size of the restrooms—there are only two small ones, which can be a bit of a wait if the place is busy. But honestly, that’s a small price for such an excellent overall experience. We’ll be coming back. Highly recommended.

Cool setting and dinner was mostly great. Arrive very good. Filet Mignon was overcooked and dessert was not good.

The grain bowl and the shrimp & grits are tasty. Nice sorbet. Good service. This place is quite historic.

We had a lovely server and I wish I had gotten her name. She was thoughtful, cheerful, competent, and did some nice "going the extra mile" touches. And some one -- manager? Came by to our table to ask how everything was going. I really appreciated the service. The food and ambiance was very good, but the care of good service really means a lot in this day and age of the rushed, transactional dining experience. Well done, Tabard Inn!

Lovely Father's Day brunch experience on the patio which offered a low level of ambient noise and a serene setting. The wait staff was superb..very attentive. The food was tasty and and the Tabard donut the best donut I have ever had. Much appreciated was the carafe of coffee so "warmers' from the staff were not necessary. I enjoyed the eggs Benedict but was a tad disappointed that no substitutions were allowed. I would have preferred grits instead of fries. This is a 5 star spot.
