Tabard Inn in Dupont has a reliable brunch, but the patio is a nice spot for dinner (and live jazz), too.
Thoughtful, attentive staff. Rockfish very good.
Went to the Tabard Inn for a birthday dinner. I had the filet which was simply amazing. So tender and delicious...honestly one of the best steaks I have ever had. My companion had paparadelle pasta with Wild Boar ragu and it was also super delicious. Only negative was some overly salty potato leek soup - but it was delicious and hot.
Desserts are a must as well - all homemade. I enjoyed the key lime pie and the creme brulee was tremendous!
I will be back!
I cannot speak highly enough of the service at Tabard Inn Restaurant. The restaurant itself is a cozy beautiful space. The maitre d' was so accommodating even though the other member of my party was running late. He even noticed it was a birthday and sent out a plate of donuts with a candle. My guest (whose birthday it was) was so surprised and impressed. Overall, the breakfast food was great and so was the coffee but the service was just incredible. I would certainly recommend.
I took a group of business associates to dinner here during a conference in D.C. It was perfect for the occasion. We had amazing service and the food was incredible. I had the scallops and wished I had room for a second round. I found the ambiance to be very east coast charming. Make sure you get a table where you can see people enter. It is close enough to the Hill you never know who you might see!
Old school Washington, DC at its best. Historic, interesting, fun place to sit by a fireplace and chat in antique, comfy seating. Dinner was great, interesting menu, interesting dining areas. Just a great ‘ole place.
Delicious food, professional and friendly service, charming environme
Funky and eclectic. Casual, comfortable. Great variety of dish choices, amiable staff, diverse wine list. It’s got a lot of positive things going for it.
The Tabard Inn is always a delight to visit and remains a favorite DC restaurant.
The food is wonderful, great service and friendly atmosphere. Keep up the good work. Parking is always a challenge if one doesn't come down on the METRO and the Valet parking is a little high. Other then this, it is great and unique place that I highly recommend.
Great food, cocktails and service. The hamburger was one of the best, great flavor. My wife had the chicken and waffles - was great. Will return when back to DC!!
Food was excellent but leave time for relaxing. Service was slow
The inside is a total surprise.
This is a very nice place with lots of character and cosy corners for a drink. Great barman. The food was very tasty but the service was a bit slow and they forgot to bring our starter. However, the whole experience was overall positive.
Great food and great service - we enjoyed the ambiance and atmosphere - the patio seating looked really good - though our group was inside - which was also very nice.
Love this place. A classic and historic DC spot. The patio is the best. My only complaint - and this is not the restaurant's fault - was the construction next door that created a lot of annoying noise. That's only temporary though.
Great patio seating and attentive service. Each course was delicious. Great experiences every time we’ve dined here.
Wonderful friendly, attentive service and everything was delicious. I would recommend the fish tacos and key lime pie!
The only bummer was the noise because of the construction next door.
Tabard Inn is an old Washington standby. Conveniently located. Nothing to complain about.
Lovely outside seating.
Great food, delicious!! Old world field ambiance, cozy.
The best thing about our recent breakfast here was the lovely dining room. It's really a wonderful venue for business meetings or meals with friends.
The breakfast dishes were nothing special at all. The bacon was thick and hard, the hash browns were not good, the eggs were just OK and the coffee was fair-with no refill offered by the inattentive waiter
The service was inattentive and the only time the waiter came over was when he was beckoned.
The food, ambience and service were superior to many restaurants in the District that are far more expensive and overrated. The Tabard Inn is a lesser known and less-hyped gem.
From service attentiveness to food, from ambiance to spotting former governors, The Tabard Inn is a mainstay, not resting on its laurels but providing good food in a beautiful, unpretentious setting. The special - rock fish on roasted vegetables -- was among the best fish dishes we'd tasted, cooked to perfection. The service, as usual, was friendly, not oppressive. A beautiful, comfortable, cozy and excellent spot.
Went to Tabard Inn for a business lunch. It came recommended, but was not overly comfortable and not bad, but not that good. If you're in the area, it will work fine. But, don't make a special trip to go there.
Tabard was ok, but do not come here if you have someone with an allergy. The kitchen was incredibly unhelpful with a gluten allergy - to the point that the individual couldn't even have potatoes with his omelette because they would not cook them in a pan to avoid cross contamination (which is honestly standard practice). Little to no substitutions were offered on the things in the TWO menu items that worked with a gluten allergy that he could not eat. I have been many times in the past and loved this spot, but as someone with years of restaurant experience I was astounded at how bad the service was for such a common allergy.
The food is very good bur I have been ordering the eggs Benedict and though the eggs and sauce irate terrific, the potatoes are always very dry. Same with the waffles and chicken, they should have more syrup. The place is really cute and charming, but the noise level can be too much for brunch.
Nice place for Sunday breakfast (ends at 9 to prepare for brunch at 10) Good poached eggs. Server forgot part of the order, didn't bring water, tables poorly set up - several with no spoons. Took forever to get check at the end. Great ambiance and crowd. All in all, I will go again but be more insistent with the wait staff (and maybe they will end up with a better tip).
I love Tabard Inn for its historic ambience, interesting menu, excellent food, friendly service, varied dining areas and location. Many years have passed since my last lunch there, and I was pleased that it has retained its charm. Now that it is back on my radar, I will definitely find another occasion to enjoy its pleasures.
Love the atmosphere. The food was just okay and the service was kinda slow
Very lovely evening with family and the dinner made it memorable.
Always a pleasure. Great breads and maybe the best burger in DC. Very good service
It has been a long time since I worked in DC and visited the Tabard. Glad to see the rustic nature of the Inn has not changed over the years and the food and service are still superb. Thoroughly enjoyed the re-visit.
We were really looking forward a relaxing birthday celebration only to be disappointed by excessively noisy patrons all around us. We were in a small room with windows and the setting was lovely. Sadly the noise level was reaching the screaming level to overcome the excessive laughter, loud talking and basically inconsiderate patrons. The acoustics in a room like that would normally provide challenges, but apparently no one saw the need to intervene with these obnoxious guests, and we unfortunately, had a less than memorable experience. The food portions were small, contrary to prior reviews that I read. (Gnocchi and the Risotto). I don’t think I could recommend this restaurant without warning family and friends about the noise level, which also included the bar area. Atmosphere and amenities are in keeping with an old established restaurant.
The Tabard is back, baby! I've been coming here for 30 years, and there was a moment a couple years ago when we weren't enjoying it in the same way as we had. This last dinner with out-of-town family was absolutely fantastic from start to finish, including that I had made the reservation for the wrong night. The restaurant accommodated us with grace, and did not make me feel like an idiot. The food was superb. I would take a cab across town just to have those scallops again. The ricotta gnocchi are genius! My husband LOVELOVELOVED the lamb. Our server was attentive and informed. It was a magical evening, and the Tabard is back at the top of our list.
Found on open table during a recent visit to DC. Food was well prepared, and of generous proportions. Service was excellent. Noise level was acceptable despite size of dining room. Overall excellent experience and would recommend it to friends visiting the area. Neighborhood gem.
Excellent food, attentive but not intrusive service, no rush...plenty of time for us to enjoy the food, the environment and each other.
Food was delicious and servings size was huge!
Not great service today. Sloppy and disinterested. Very bad bread and a bad wine selection.
The food was amazing and the ambience was very nice!
Had friends visiting! Had to bring them to Tabards
Love Tabard Inn for multiple reasons that start with the charming ambiance that embraces you from the moment you enter to the delicious breads that tempt you to eat more than you should to the consistently wonderful food. When the patio opens, it offers a lovely al fresco dining experience.
