T. Cook’s at Royal Palms Resort and Spa Ratings and Reviews
I like T.Cooks. I like the setting, and the service is always impeccable. Both were true on Saturday night. The reason for the low rating is the new summer menu. They seem to be moving in the direction of just putting a piece of meat on a plate and letting their diners figure out what to do with it to make it a coherent meal. Moreover, they did not reduce their prices to compensate for the fact that they are not providing a well-thought out plate of food. They say that they are trying out a "steak house" approach - where you get a piece of meat and then you have to separately order your sides to complete the plate. The problem with that is that (i) each side is $7 so you need 3 to complete the plate ($21), and (I) the sides seem to be designed for beef - not for chicken or for salmon. I ended up ordering a salad to put with my chicken - but the total cost was $37 (pan roasted chicken - which you can buy at Whole Foods for about $9, and a dinner salad). I could have accomplished the same meal at Gertrude's (DBG) for about $20 - same lovely service. I love T.Cooks, but the new menu is simply not worth the price point. I hope they go back to what they do best - well crafted complete dishes.
Planned to have our anniversary dinner at T Cook's, one of our favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, when we arrived they had just lost power. The temperature in Phoenix was 119 and we decided to leave and have dinner at another restaurant. The hostess was extremely gracious . . . in addition to apologizing, she gave us a gift certificate and offered glasses of champagne. But we have been there many times over the years and can say that the food has always been delicious, the service is excellent and overall, dining there is a wonderful experience!
We went for brunch on Father's Day. Our table was ready when we arrived and the service was excellent. Our party of four were able to order different favorite dishes which included blueberry pancakes, Branzino fish filets, rare prime rib, and skirt steak. We all enjoyed the food and the complimentary dessert buffet afterwards.
As always, one of the most incredible restaurants in town. We accidentally arrived after breakfast had concluded and the manager had spoken with the chef to make sure we could get it anyway. So sincerely appreciated as this is what our entire group wanted. Service was perfect and over the top accommodating.
Everything from the cocktails to the dessert was exceptional. Our waiter was awesome and made our anniversary night and first time at T. Cooks amazing, willing to answer any question or make any recommendations. I knew we would have a great time, but it was better than I expected. The ambiance is perfect for a special occasion.
T Cook's is good example of fine dinning. Reservation obtained online and table available per plan. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Food was very good although menu offerings where somewhat limited. Management voluntarily provided an expanded desert to help celebrate our anniversary. Costs were reasonable for the setting, but no bargain.
T. Cooks is located in a 1929 Spanish-Mexican architecture "hacienda" that was the vacation home sitting on thousands of acres of orange groves. The setting is gorgeous! The grounds beautiful. It's now the restaurant in a hotel. The restaurant is absolutely lovely. There are two wine lists - one "reserve" - very expensive bottles of special wines. And you can order those wines by the glass if you wish! The other wine list is excellent and quite normal in price. The appetizers were absolutely delicious. The staff were warm, friendly, attentive (but not hovering) and helpful. One review said that if they had only gone to T. Cooks in Phoenix, the visit would be worth it. I echo that sentiment.
This is the third time at the royal palms! The place is outstanding and the staff helpful and friendly. Each room is slightly different and was perfect for us. We ate at T cooks 3 times and we're happy with most of the dishes. The scallops appetizer were outstanding and the chef made a dinner entrees for both my wife and daughter. Two days late we came back for the scallops again!!!
The Inn is charming...the grounds are enchanting! Have had lunch, drinks, dinner here often and really like the feel of the place. Food is excellent. Our waiter was terrific. We spilled cream all over the table and clothes and he tried to clean it up without too much disruption to our meal.
What a beautiful meal and evening. Paul was our server and was exceptional. He made the best recommendations for entres and wine. We went into the bar afterwards to listen to the live music which was awesome. Katie and Lindsay took great care of us. Can't wait to go back again!
T.Cooks is an experience in fine dinning not to be missed. The Royal Palms Resort is a beautiful, southwestern resort nestled in the beautiful Arcadia neighborhood. The restaurant T. Cooks delivers great food including delicious desserts and well crafted alcoholic drinks. one could spend from early evening with a glass of wine sitting on the patio or in the vestibule in a comfortable , enchanting room off the dinning room and then have dinner. It is a great experience and I would suggest you make the effort to dine at T. Cook's and enjoy one of the best places to eat and relax in Phoenix.
Took my wife and mother-in-law there for the late Mother's Day meal. We got there a little early, 5 pm, and the restaurant was not open so we decided to have a drink in the bar. It took 15 minutes for someone to come and take our order, and then at 5:35 we decided to walk into the restaurant and asked for appetizers that we had ordered at 5:15 could be transferred to our table. The bar service was extremely slow. The food there was great, the waiter was fun to talk to. They were celebrating their 20th anniversary of being open so we did the nightly special that runs through the end of May.
We went to T. Cook's for lunch on the Saturday before Mother's Day with my mom to avoid the crowds on the actual day. My wife and son and I were joined by my sister for a party of five. We started with the mussels and the cheese plate. Both were very good and easy to share. I had the scallops, which were great. My son had a cheeseburger, with excellent Parmesan fries. The ladies had salads which they enjoyed. Great atmosphere, food and company. I highly recommend T. Cook's.
