Excellent Upper East Side choice for any occasion. I have always been pleased with my dining experience here.
the noise level is so unpleasant that unless you want to go deaf, or shout at the top of your lungs to be heard, stay away.
I am a regular customer and so I should not be surprised when the dining experience is erratic. But I am having more off meals than good. Tonight they did not honor our early reservation for 4 and kept us waiting at the bar. Neither bartender knew how to make a Gatsby cocktail. After over 20 minutes we were offered a table in the bar area which we did not want because it is noisy, cramped, and dark. We asked if another table was available and the hostess said someone is finishing but she couldn't give us a time when it would be free. We decided to accept the table. The usual delicious bread basket was soft & soggy. We mentioned it to the waiter and he said yes, it is soft and would deliver the usual bread. He didn't. French fries was soggy and oily. Asked for ketchup - 3 times. Ordered glasses of wine 3 times until they were finally delivered. Restaurant was not that crowded that service should have been so poor. When we left it was half empty. Tired of giving them another chance.
Don't bother with the steak. Sullen service makes it a non-starter.
I will not go back. I had to send my food back and the service is fair. My companions were not satisfied either with the quality of the restaurant. Certainly has gone downhill.
We had a great experience on our first visit to T-BAR Steak & Lounge. We had an excellent window table, owner Tony Fortuna stopped by to say hello, the steaks and other dishes were superb, and the desserts were decadently delicious. Our server, Mark, was charming, knowledgeable, and attentive. We'll be back!
Decided to have a little family dinner with my hubby and 3 children on July 5th. We sat outside which was perfect for us. Service was great. Our Server was attentive as well as all the staff! Our dinner was prompt and delicious! I love the Chicken Milanese, my kids loved the pizza and Mac and cheese! Hubby’s Burger was cooked to perfection. And dessert was to die for! The Banana parfait was devine! Will def return again maybe for a date night!
We go to this restaurant regularly. Reservation is honored. The problem is the service is hit and miss. Last week service was attentive and good. This visit the service was awful. We had to flag the waiter several times to ask about our dinner. Then we flagged the busboy to ask the waiter about our dinner. The answer was always the same - "it's coming." It wasn't. Annoying and unacceptable. Noise level can be unbearable. One entree was came out wrong.
Over 50 dinners and they never miss...great food
Good fun and family fun night. Gary our waiter was exceptional, especially since we were a party of 9!
food was good.. waiter was not.. food came out quickly but he never once came over to ask us how our meal was. We all were disappointed with how unprofessional he was..
Always good food, good service and great menu. Both for lunch and dinner
Overpriced and overrun with kids. The weight of the steaks is off. My 24 ounce rib-eye was just a smidge over a pound, The 8 oz filet was like 6 oz. If you're looking for a classic NY Steakhouse, this ain't it.
June 19 lunch. Always a nice experience
Superb as always ... I have been coming here for many years and you’ve never had a bad meal… Casual atmosphere
Food was uneven, service average, very noisy even though the restaurant wasn’t full.
Priced too high for the value
Favorite go to restaurant. Food is excellent. Service spot on. Bread basket amazing! Cocktails are superior. Friends always want to know, how long have I known about this restaurant. Everyone loves it.
We arrived on time- restaurant was busy but I knew it would be- after five minutes we were told that the only table was in the bar- I explained that it was a special occasion and we didn’t want to sit in the busy, loud bar- I explained I was willing to wait- hostess said that was the the only table that would be available all evening- we tried to sit there but it was uncomfortable- I spotted another table and asked about it, not realizing it was in the middle of a twenty person party- that table was not only uncomfortable, it was unbearable- I again spoke to manager who said there would no other tables all night- I explained I had reservations - manager said “everyone has reservations”
WE LEFT and went across the street and had a lovely meal-I had been to TBar before and that’s why I chose it for a special birthday celebration- I will never go there again!!!
There were many big parties that night. The staff was very apologetic.
They did their best. We will be back
Although the food is good, the prices are quite costly. Service was terrible Saturday night when I was there. The waiter took our order and then came back to take it again. He seemed completely preoccupied looking elsewhere as he took our order the first time around. In addition, I had to ask for bread, as it should have been brought over without me having to request it.
Food is consistently great. My faves are: Chicken Milanese, NY Strip, Long Island Duck, but the sea food is wonderful too. Highest quality in taste and presentation. Best margarita in town: Jalapeno Margarita. Bar has best female bartenders in NY.
Tried the chicken soba noodle salad; excellent. Service here is always good, restaurant lively. Doesn't get quiet until after 2:30. Food is good, no matter what you choose. Love the olive bread.
We were a party of 7 celebrating a friend’s Birthday. The food was well prepared and delicious. Our seating was a bit cramped and should have been placed at a round table so all could converse. We ordered 3 deserts. The Birthday Boy got his with a candle. Nothing special here.
For everyday dining it’s ok. Wouldn’t celebrate a special occasion here again.
Was our first time and it was great
Consistently serves great food with great service.....best tuna tartare!
Nice lunch in a pleasant atmosphere
Unfortunately, we were late and Open Table thought we didn't make it. However, we did. Didn't get the usual large table I get but my fault for being late. My friend enjoyed the omelette, and I had the tuna tartar. Both were very good.
The waiter was excellent and added to our experience!
Food was amazing! Impeccable service!
Wonderful meal in a charming atmosphere. Fine Sunday lunch/brunch experience. Great service from Claudio.
Food a disappointment
Too loud. Service was somewhat obnoxious. Almost rude. Chicken too peppery. Inedible.
Love the food and the wait staff The owner Tony is friendly and welcoming
Amazing food and beautiful decor. I had the shrimp rolls and Milanese they were fantastic. Everything was cooked perfectly. To end it off perfectly...we ordered the strawberry and chocolate sundae (enough to feed 6 people!) the size was huuuuugeeee and literally the BEST sundae I’ve ever had. This place seriously never lets me dow. I absolutely love coming here. Fantastic service and even better food!
The kids loved it... as one likes steak and the other pizza!! T-Bar is one of the few places that have both!!
TBars is a regular lunch favorite of mine. Tried a new salad--chicken with soba noodles--delicious. Their olive bread is delicious. Took home a turkey burger and the endive and beet salad, both of which I love.
Overpriced and very mediocre food, but the people who go there are NOT foodies nor do most of them seem to care that they are overpaying
