T-BAR Steak & Lounge (Upper East Side)
Chef Ben Zwicker's menu consists of raw bar that includes tartares; steak
bar that includes prime cuts and as well as tuna and salmon steaks;
appetizers are divided in classic and market driven; sauces are global and
diverse; entrees, too, present a roster of classics and new world items; and
a long, long list of sides complements every dish on the menu. T-Bar &
Lounge speaks to many tastes, from cocktail & wine lovers, to grazers and
full on steak aficionados.
Always great scene and food is consistent. However they are overdue for a menu change of interesting choices that other steakhouses follow.
The living room of the UES, Tbar does not disappoint.
First time I will write a bad review
I made res and req certain area
Got there and they said yes and then seated us in the middle of main room where noise was intolerable - I have ALWAYS written that they honor reservations - and the attitude this time - was “ oh yes - but nothing is available” - NOT EVEN LET ME SEE HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE
I ordered turkey burger -menu said with spinach and goat cheese.
Never said stuffed with spinach and goat cheese.
When I complained to waiter - he showed me menu and told me it said it- I pointed out it did not say stuffed - he said okay and walked away. I did not eat it as I hate goat cheese. No apologies - no attempt to take off check or order me one without stuffing.
Asked for more olive bread when we first sat down. Never came
Others in our party ordered brisket - told wAiter potToes cold - again he did nothing to resolve this
First time of many many times - GREATLY DISAPPOINTED
ordered the 40oz steak for the three of us, it was cooked perfectly and it was delicious! I wish they had mashed potatoes for lunch! Great desserts, just a great place!
T-Bar has become our regular Friday night dining spot. Service, food and vibe is excellent!
The food and service were terrific but the noise level at dinner made it difficult to carry on a conversation.
Always great steaks, salads and service. Wish lower priced wine options.
The house salad was delicious and the steak was perfect
we loved the French fries and brussel sprouts
Overall very good; great service and food always good
The food, service and ambience was just as good as always. TBar does not disappoint and always strives for pleasing the customer as best they can.
We had a business dinner for a group of 6 and this was perfect. The food was delicious, service was prompt and the drinks were strong. Definitely will be back!
Nice variety in menu. Salads etc.Good for “ladies who lunch.” In fact many men there at lunch as well. A little noisy, but could be
Asked to sit downstairs. Sat us at a table closest to bathroom on balcony. Not a cozy table as we are used to. We have been coming to TBar for years. We should be on some type of VIP list as in other restaurants we frequent. And, we brought guests who we thought would love it as we do, they live be in the neighborhood. FYI.
Very nice Sunday brunch is served at a reasonable price. I would absolutely recommend. Not often does one see such a well priced brunch in New York City!
Great local place. Food is always consistent
Thank you for the fine service to celebrate our 'kids' 1st anniversary.
All 3 generations loved it.
Great Spot when you want to take in a neighborhood.
Happy we stepped out of the tourists area.
Food is always consistently good. Very friendly atmosphere. And just enjoyable to be with friends and have a nice dinner
Service was great My friend and I had two different types of salads. Both were tasty. Especially the gluten free French fries. Define toy will go back again. Have been for lunch many times
This place is good enough for a neighborhood meet up dinner with freinds...i would not go out of my way to go there.. the food is ordinary, but good enough.. theres lots of activity in this restaurant..i think because its a local Ues place.. and convenient for most... also its better than most in the local area. Nice neighborhood restaurant..but nothing memorable in way of food.
This restaurant is consistent , the olive bread is amazing
Had the best experience in t bar, the owner it’s amazing, the staff is great, hostess was really friendly, it was amazing.
Wonderful for lunch. A bit noisy for dinner.
The food and service are excellent.
Service was wonderful, main dish’s were very good, the salads are awful. They lack taste and sparse in what they include.
Overall a great meal. Kale salad leaves a lot to be desired but the rest of our dinner was certainly memorable.
Very pretty restaurant. Light and pleasant decor. Limited menu. Noise level even at a late lunch was disconcerting. Wait staff is excellent. Not much choice in the food category. I remember this as the Lenox Room years ago. It is a nice option as a neighborhood restaurant but a bit disappointing. I was truly impressed by the wait staff. I was told by friends that the vibe at dinnertime is deafening. Where or where is there a lovely restaurant on Manhattan that is conducive to conversation during dinner? Or do we have to pay outrageously to sit at a table at a restaurant that is popular, has fine food, but casual enough to be comfortable and welcoming, not fancy?? I wish I knew. But I do commend the wait staff here.
Food and service was great. But i requested a high chair and when we got there was informed they don’t have one. The hostess said someone should have called, but they didn’t. Also, when they packed up leftover steak to take out, they didn’t include the bone which I requested.
Eaten here Multiple times. Service was awful!!!!! Disappointed
Our waitress was excellent. Constantly checking on us and as sweet as good be. Unfortunately, did not get her name but she did say she was also a bartender.
Always good, lunch or dinner. Enjoy everything!
Always hono reservations and timed
A neighborhood gem that has reliable service, fine food and a neat, clean and acceptable dining facility. Tony and his staff have been around "forever" and pay careful attention to detail. The T-Bar salad (with or without added chicken, salmon or shrimp) makes for a perfect lunch. Kudos!!!
Consistently decent but I still find it over priced for what you get.
Completely ignored by server and chicken severely over cooked for $30.
We come there at lease 8 times a year when we travel
Our Experience Was not good this time
The waiter left in the middle of our dinner
Nobody came to ask if things are good when they Served the food
We sat at lease a half hour with dirty dishes
I know it was the end of the night but we paid just as much as everybody else and we expect it to be served the same as always
Not this time
Very disappointed !
Delicious dinner with great service! My husband and I were visiting our son and his fiancé who live in the upper east side and wanted a nice dinner. We almost left when initially seated because we thought it was too modern and formal for what we were looking for. I’m so glad we decided to stay! Our waiter was attentive and so positive. We all ordered the filet mignon with a variety of sides. Everything was delicious - particularly the steaks. Would definitely return!
tables are much too close to each other making it very difficult getting in and out. my wife who is physically handicapped and needs a walker was unable to use the walker when we tried to leave the restaurant...NOT good!
One of the best steakhouses in the city. Great bread, iceberg wedge, NY strip, mashed potatoes and mac & cheese.
We really enjoyed our delicious steak.
Everything was grest.
My teenage son and I visited T-BAR with a longtime family friend, who is a 94 year old WW II vet, and whom I hadn't seen in several years.
There couldn't have been a more perfect location for a dinner. It was intimate and quiet enough that the gentleman could share stories about his time in the European theatre with the 102nd Div., and his life afterwards in New York. It was vibrant enough and had a terrific ambiance. The staff was incredible. They accommodated last-minute seating requests so that everyone was properly situated. I had the best martini I've had in years. And the food was simply excellent.
I hope this isn't the last meal we have with my 94 (almost 95) year old friend. But if it was, then T-BAR was the perfect place to spend it. It was an evening I'll never forget, at a restaurant to which I'll always be indebted.
