t at The General Store
We are part-time locals to this area of the Eastern Shore, living in DC the rest of the time. We love this restaurant and consider it 5 stars compared to some of our favorite D.C. restaurants (albeit different cuisines). There isn't anything about this restaurant, including the easy to get to location that we don't appreciate!
Went for dinner during Talbot Restaurant week in which they were participating. The entire experience was excellent - my husband had lamb shank and I had smoked cod- delicious. I would recommend this to friends
Had the lamb shank special and it was delicious. It was restaurant week and we had the 3 course menue. They also had a Wednesday special with buck a shuck diver caught oysters
Great place for a weekend brunch. Food and service are over the top.
Celebrated a special birthday...the chef was so accommodating, making a small birthday cake for our mini party of two. Bringing it out, the whole restaurant joined in singing Happy Birthday! What a friendly place and welcoming crowd! Add to that fantastic, innovative food, awesome portions and creative cocktails and this is a place that should be packed every single night!
Always pleasant servers and dependable food. BYOB if you want
I love the location of this restaurant because the brief drive from St. MIchaels is lovely. My husband and I had a great meal. Everything was delicious. I had the tuna appetizer and the salmon entrée. My husband had the chili as an appetizer and the pasta special for his entrée. We will definitely be returning (a lot).
Quiet Saturday lunch. Fabulous shrimp and grits, highly recommend. Fair pricing, attentive service and pleasant environment.
I drove past it twice. The outside looks like a dilapidated country store but you will be pleasantly surprised when you walk in. The place is eclectic, the staff amazing and the food.....
I had a wonderful cabernet sauvignon to start with fresh shucked oysters.....yummy
I then had the Thai grilled shrimp. Delicious.... For dinner I had the grilled salmon - done to perfection.
I finished off with a brownie a la mode which was a perfect size to finish the meal. I will definitely be back. You will not be disappointed
We completely enjoyed our dining experience at
t at the General Store! Every bite was delicious, our waitress was well informed about the menu and helpful when we chose our meals. We will be going back and we will be spreading the word.
Thank you for your wonderful review! we're always happy to hear when our guest have a great time. Hope to have you with us again soon! theres always something new on the menu!
This is our 4th time going here. We always make sure to come here when staying at the Eastern Shore. Great food, drinks, and service. You can be dressed up or semi-casual.
Thank you for your support! be sure to check out our changing drink menu! we're also participating in restaurant week April 7th-13th!
Interesting local restaurant that is out of the way.
Excellent, innovative food. Will definitely revisit.
Delicious food for a special occasion. It's a little out of the way but worth the drive.
Valentine’s Day dinner.
Food was excellent , but pity disappointed no specials , or specials as advertised on web site ,atmosphere needs improving .
But it was nice.
As always, we had an excellent time. We brought friends who had never been there and they loved it as well. The only disappointment was that the only cab on the wine list was not available and the Pinot we picked just wasn't that nice. Hopefully the next time we go, they will have a couple more Cabs on the wine list.
Had amazing food w awesome service! Best duck I’ve ever had!
Food is excellent but service is often spotty at T, especially if the bar is full, as the servers have to double as bartenders. The place really needs a dedicated bartender on weekend nights.
Exceptional food and service. Mixed drinks are pricey.
We went for early dinner on a Saturday. We hadn't been to the General Store before and were pleasantly surprised. At 5:00 it wasn't crowded. The server was attentive, the food was good and we enjoyed the wine. We will definitely go back.
We had a great time. Service was excellent and the food divine!
The Sunday brunch was so good I knew I'd be back. Dinner was delicious and the staff superb. A new go to spot.
Always good food and pleasant service. Locally sourced cuisine that is served with a flair but not fussy. BYOB makes it possible to bring great wine, though their list is just fine. Ample portions
The food is cooked to order -- no dried out chicken or overcooked veggies. They are friendly and welcoming and I have never had a bad meal there. Saturday and Sunday brunch are also great fun!
Healthy food that is delicious.
Fabulous farm to table food prepared with care and served in a relaxing warm environment. Everyone loved their meal!!!
Incredible meal! A hidden gem, highly recommend for locals and tourists. We expect this to become a frequent favorite for us
I was invited to t at the General Store for my birthday dinner. I had lamb chops with polenta, and it was delicious. We split the brownie sundae for dessert, and it was incredibly scrumptious. Great place!
Wonderful farm/boat to table cuisine, thoughtfully prepared. Chowder was sublime, seared ahi tuna perfect. Nice wine list and full bar but BYOB is a terrific option for wine snobs.
Always a great place to dine with friends. Order different things so everyone can try some...loved the chicken pot pie and the sweet potato bread pudding specials!
The food is amazing. The Ahi Tuna apetizer is to die for. Beth did an excellent job with regards to service in spite of it being her first day. The duck that we had orgered was cooked to perfection but had gristle all around which made it hard to chew. They changed it out and got us something else. Excellent service!!
Sunday brunch was good. Very friendly place. Food was good but menu somewhat limited.
We discovered this restaurant 3 years ago during an Anniversary trip to the Eastern Shore. To celebrate our 15th Anniversary, we decided to return. The food was just as delicious as before and the ambiance was lovely. It is nice to not have been to a restaurant in 3 years and to come back and the quality still remained!
This was the second time we ate here, and loved it both times. The oyster stew was perfect (just a little bit of heat) and my pork chop was perfectly cooked. My husband had a steak with an amazing chimichurri (not sure I spelled that right!) sauce which he let me taste (he didn't share his steak!) The warm apple cake with caramel sauce, whipped cream to die for and ice cream finished us off. We waddled home having enjoyed every minute of our visit. We plan to go back and take some local friends who have not made it there yet.
Glad I made a reservation! Oyster Stew was delicious. Need bigger water glasses.
Love the staples, but can always expect something unexpected. This time it was a house made chicken pot pie. Soooooo delicious. Finished with a brownie sundae for dessert. Perfect comfort on a chill fall evening!
We we're looking for a new place to try and came upon The General Store. Since the chef is hands on, the menu has less items, but are made to order and wonderful. We had the special of the day which was Chicken Pot Pie and the Steak with chimichurri. Both were amazing and displayed beautifully. Tea is infused into the handcrafted cocktails which adds a lovely touch. For dessert we had the creme brulee and the home made lemon curd with fruit. Again, the taste was off the charts. This restaurant will be our new go to when we are near Easton. Worth the trip to visit, you won't be disappointed!
PROS-A delicious find if you are foodies like we are! Fresh, beautifully prepared, very delicious and worth the drive. . CONS-There is a stinging weakness in the restaurant design that affects the bottom line since the place is rarely full and with the fabulous food-it should be.
As a designer of restaurants -From 3 star michelin rated restaurants to local small town pub and grub-no matter how great the food -the environment can be a deal maker even when a patron can not name it; an opportunity missed.
While a community table can be friendly-to locate it up front in this space-limiting the only other seating options-to two tables of 4 is a mistake-sending most diners to the back of the room, with little ambiance. Not once since we have been there has anyone selected that enormous community table. On any budget-even the tightest-it would be easy to make design selections that better reflect the design experience diners would delight in-filling the space nightly happily each night it is open .The bones of the existing space could be a fantastic beginning yet is lost by what appears to be too many random, confusing ideas thrown together with what feels like no real plan. Uncomfortable with cheap looking, feeling chairs that would work in an elementary school setting. While we live in a time with Wayfair and other furniture options there are way better options out there in any budget.
The restaurant also claims to be a Tea Bar-yet we can not figure how that weighs in or why it should. The food should be heralded was the clear star it is. The idea of Tea pub is confusing at best-growing pains perhaps.
"T-at the General Store" offers elements to become an ace in the hole- with a rising chef, a young staff that is willing . However, the restaurant interior no doubt is a factor that keeps diners from filling the space full. Too bad, because the food deserves a packed venue on it's own. First impressions are lasting , why not make it unforgettable in every way ?
