Symphony's Cafe Ratings and Reviews
My wife loved her sesame crusted ahi, and I had a chicken rollade with mashed potatoes. We shared a plate of mussels. The service was excellent a delightful server, and the manager came out to talk to us about our meal. I always worry that an Italian restaurant is going to overwhelm you with a ton of pasta and a lot of tomato sauce, so I avoided the primarily pasta dishes. The ones we had were very good and we look forward to returning.
I've been coming here for years. If you're looking for a place where the primary objectives are great food and quiet enough for easy conversation, then this is your place.
Everything I have had on their menu has been outstanding. Wine by the glass is very reasonable.
Friendly staff members that are attentive and efficient. We have been here multiple times for breakfast and everything has been delicious. Portions are generous and menu is varied. Excellent restaurant with a comfortable atmosphere. Looking forward to trying other meals here.
Not a great experience. Lots of things that could have and should have been handled better. First, our party of 6 was jammed into a round booth meant for 4 with a chair added and not enough place settings (we had to ask again for an additional setring when the food arrived). Before being seated in the booth we requested another vacant table set for 6 but were told it was for a group with a wheelchair. The party seated there 10 minutes later did not have anyone in a wheelchair so we did not appreciate the lie. The food was average, and was poorly timed as we were told our entrees were ready while we were still enjoying appetizers and the salad course which comes with the meal. It was as if this were our problem for not eating quickly enough! Our cramped set up resulted in the waitress handing us very hot plates as she could not reach across to put them on the table herself. Fortunately nothing spilled and no one burned themselves! Just not a pleasant experience overall.
Symphony's has a straightforward menu of very good food which is great for people who are trying to eat "clean." I had a grass-fed burger without the bun which was delicious. My friend had skirt steak which was also very good. If you are looking for a place to have a quiet dinner and avoid lots of high calorie food, check out their menu and give it a try.
I chose this Café for our business group of 12 people because I wanted to have everyone sit together--worked out wonderfully. Food was very good--generous, well-presented. Staff was pleasant and available but not overly attentive--we had a measure of privacy.
What many of us really appreciated most was the low noise/sound level. Finally, a wonderful place to go where you don't have to loudly address your companion in order to get over the booming noise level in the room. Excellent place to take someone you want to give your full attention to--interview, date, special family time, dearest friends.
Better than the amazing food, the service was amazing. There were 3 of us for dinner for the first time, and we eat very little, so we shared 2 meals. We jokingly suggested to have everything split 3 ways, and to our surprise they graciously obliged. That meant more to us than anything, and we will definitely be back.
The food and service were amazing. We were a party of 7 and the restaurant was extremely busy because of a local college graduation. The waitstaff was attentive and very accommodating, we had a a vegan, two guests with gluten allergies and one guest with a garlic allergy. Our waiter paid close attention to everyone's dietary needs and made sure the meals were all served accordingly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It's a great lunch/brunch experience!
We have been going to Symphonys since the year after it opened. I was delighted to see that it had been added to Open Table. Many of our friends have eaten there and nobody is ever disappointed. We have even hosted larger gatherings of friends and family and were always pleased with food and service.
Maybe this is a good breakfast place but for dinner it was terrible. I ordered the ahi tuna special. It was smothered in sesame seeds and garlic that obviously came out of a jar not fresh and the fish did not taste very fresh. My son ordered a chicken pesto sandwich he said the pesto was very good and the chicken was terrific. I'm glad he was happy. I was actually surprised the place filled up. Maybe it's the neighborhood favorite but I did not enjoy the food at all.
One of the best restaurants and best values in Evanston! Symphony offers a wide-ranging, but not overwhelming menu. Portion sizes are quite large, so be prepared to take some leftovers home, which is just fine with me. The background music is perfect for a nice relaxing meal. Great place!
Wonderful food is a very cozy, quiet setting. A nice neighborhood place. Everything we had was delicious. We had the coconut shrimp appetizer which was excellent and enough for 2-3 people. It had 6 large shrimp. Our main courses included the spaghetti and meatballs and 2 of the specials that evening: beef stroganoff and salmon with risotto. Everything was great. I have also had the burgers there which are fantastic and very large. But of course the best thing there is Steve's Chocolate cake. It is a very large piece of fantastic cake and large enough for 2 people to share.
