This was our first visit but it will not be the last to Symphony. The food was very good and the service friendly, attentive not intrusive.
Seems to be a popular evening destination, as we entered just before the dinner hour and by the time we were done, the restaurant was nearly full and this was a Wednesday evening.
Wine is served but not hard liquor.
Classic decor and quiet setting, along with an extensive menu and quality food make this one of the best restaurants in Evanston. Our party of four arrived on a busy Sunday afternoon and had to wait a few minutes before being seated (reservations definitely recommended, as we still had to wait for a table to be cleared). Food was excellent: we had everything from a vegetable crepe with Hollandaise sauce to a wrap, and all contained quality ingredients and
seasonings. Definitely recommend this restaurant and will be returning. Delicious!
It was a lovely dinner. The food was fresh and tasty. Very nice!
Friendly, prompt service and delicious food.
We have made reservations for Valentine's Day. We were attended to quickly. the waiter was great. We enjoy their time there together and the food was delicious. I would recommend it and return frequently specially for special events.
This place is fantastic. We were a little shocked that they were empty when we arrived. Love the decor and menu selection. Will definitely be back!
Excellent. From start to finish! Highly recommend.
Great food, but we felt a bit rushed.
This was a lunch and it wasn't crowded so I was surprised that we felt rushed!
Excellent food and attentive, but non-intrusive service.
Our food came out a little late, made up for it with a free dessert.
Symphony Café is in Evanston. Parking is nearby. The service was very good and the butternut squash ravioli was good .
Excellent server. Gave us good choices
We love Symphony's for breakfast -- Chilaquiles, Greek omelette, and the yogurt parfait are some of our go to menu items. Great atmosphere and a neighborhood favorite.
Their soups are delicious! I had the chicken breast stuffed with spinach and requested asparagus instead of potatoes. Dinner was equally delicious and, of course, we topped it
with a glass of wine.
We came to Symphony on this occasion because we had a group of 7 for Sunday brunch and they take reservations. But we have been many times before. Symphony has consistent good food. Classic breakfast fare and lunch sandwiches, done as you expect them to be done. The atmosphere is warm and pleasant. Nothing trendy or exciting here but sometimes that's exactly what you're looking for. I typically get the Eggs Benedict which comes with hash browns. My husband always gets a turkey club which makes him very happy. If you go at prime hours there can be a wait but typically it's easy to get into and again, they take reservations. Great, under the radar daytime option.
We enjoy eating there before going to Light Opera Works which now has a new name I can't remember.
Symphony may not be the hippest spot in town but it's a reliable go-to for yummy classic breakfast and lunch options. The decor is warm and comfortable. Typically the wait time is reasonably short. Service isn't always the quickest but is friendly and caring. My husband and I go there often when he needs his Turkey Club and I want Eggs Benedict. We took his mom there and she raved about the restaurant choice!
My wife loved her sesame crusted ahi, and I had a chicken rollade with mashed potatoes. We shared a plate of mussels. The service was excellent a delightful server, and the manager came out to talk to us about our meal. I always worry that an Italian restaurant is going to overwhelm you with a ton of pasta and a lot of tomato sauce, so I avoided the primarily pasta dishes. The ones we had were very good and we look forward to returning.
I've been coming here for years. If you're looking for a place where the primary objectives are great food and quiet enough for easy conversation, then this is your place.
Everything I have had on their menu has been outstanding. Wine by the glass is very reasonable.
After a long day of traveling we were too tired to cook so we headed to a local restaurant for dinner.
Friendly staff members that are attentive and efficient. We have been here multiple times for breakfast and everything has been delicious. Portions are generous and menu is varied. Excellent restaurant with a comfortable atmosphere. Looking forward to trying other meals here.
Symphony’s is a lovely local spot. The food is great and service quick. The staff is so friendly and kind. We are from Texas and will visit again on our next trip.
Not a great experience. Lots of things that could have and should have been handled better. First, our party of 6 was jammed into a round booth meant for 4 with a chair added and not enough place settings (we had to ask again for an additional setring when the food arrived). Before being seated in the booth we requested another vacant table set for 6 but were told it was for a group with a wheelchair. The party seated there 10 minutes later did not have anyone in a wheelchair so we did not appreciate the lie. The food was average, and was poorly timed as we were told our entrees were ready while we were still enjoying appetizers and the salad course which comes with the meal. It was as if this were our problem for not eating quickly enough! Our cramped set up resulted in the waitress handing us very hot plates as she could not reach across to put them on the table herself. Fortunately nothing spilled and no one burned themselves! Just not a pleasant experience overall.
Great hearty brunch at a good value. Had the gypsy hash which was really good, and I loved the biscuits!
What a wonderful restaurant. QUIET, great food, lovely ambiance and delightful background music that is kept at a low level. Many gluten-free items to choose from and they will gladly adapt food preparation to make it gluten free.
We LOVE SYMPHONY.
Staff wasn’t ready for us even though I had a reservation. Waited for initial drinks at least 20 minutes. Food came cold.
Symphony's has a straightforward menu of very good food which is great for people who are trying to eat "clean." I had a grass-fed burger without the bun which was delicious. My friend had skirt steak which was also very good. If you are looking for a place to have a quiet dinner and avoid lots of high calorie food, check out their menu and give it a try.
I have eaten here many times and always enjoyed their food. Friends have joined me and been pleased with the service and food.
Went mid week and had a quiet table which suited my hard of hearing mother . Great fish dinners for both of us with large portions . I also enjoy their breakfasts . I enjoy going there every time I visit Evanston .
Symphony Cafe offered the perfect setting for a long awaited gathering of cousins. The menu offered a variety of delightful opportunities while the caught up on many years of life.
I chose this Café for our business group of 12 people because I wanted to have everyone sit together--worked out wonderfully. Food was very good--generous, well-presented. Staff was pleasant and available but not overly attentive--we had a measure of privacy.
What many of us really appreciated most was the low noise/sound level. Finally, a wonderful place to go where you don't have to loudly address your companion in order to get over the booming noise level in the room. Excellent place to take someone you want to give your full attention to--interview, date, special family time, dearest friends.
Loved our Sunday brunch here. Menu was extensive and offered so many choices. We went with sweet and savory and all was excellent. Highly recommend the pancakes!
Food was very good, but the management did not read my Open Table notes before we arrived, nor while we were there.
Outstanding food! Great service! Highly recommended!!! Can't wait to return.
We made reservations for 15 - including a large number of young kids. The staff did a great job taking care of the group and the food was great.
We were pleasantly surprised on Friday evening, the food was so good. Their food and menu have changed for "the good".
Would definitely go back there.
Better than the amazing food, the service was amazing. There were 3 of us for dinner for the first time, and we eat very little, so we shared 2 meals. We jokingly suggested to have everything split 3 ways, and to our surprise they graciously obliged. That meant more to us than anything, and we will definitely be back.
Big portions of good food in a quiet setting. Great attention to dietary restrictions.
We had a very pleasant experience here. Food was really good and the restaurant was quiet enough for us to be able to talk to each other. Nothing fancy, just good.
Symphony's has become one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants since we moved to Evanston two years ago. The food, service, and ambiance are great and we highly recommend it!
