Kobo is the workshop for Hatted Chef, Jacob Lee, a space for him to demonstrate his love for his homeland of Korea, re-engineering regional dishes onto a contemporary platform, incorporating Japanese and Australian influences for a dining experience like no other.
A solid marble chef’s table is front and centre, seating 8 guests at a time for an intimate chef's table (meaning “I leave it up to you.”), Chef Jacob breaks the menu down into “Episodes” with each episode featuring a core focus on a culinary moment of his life.
Kobo is located in Sydney's new Quay Quarter Lanes, a short walk from Circular Quay station, nestled just behind the historic Hinchcliffe House.

The Ambassador Training Restaurant is a TAFE NSW licensed training restaurant demonstrating our reputation as a leader in education and training for hospitality and culinary students. The students practice delivering fine dining food & develop their skills within the restaurant environment.
We do not allow BYO due to our extensive wine list* at select service periods. All dietary requirements must be advised through your OpenTable platform booking in advance. Meals will be served alternate drop - meaning you will not have a choice from the menu.
The prices per person are as follows, excluding beverages:

Lunch Buffet $40
Breakfast Buffet $30
Degustation $50
Chocolate Degustation $50
Afternoon Tea $45
The payments will be paid after your meal, and we do not accept cash or split bills.

We are closed during the April holidays: 7 April to 26 April.
The Apprentice Restaurant Sydney is a TAFE NSW licensed training restaurant.
Lunch Tuesday to Friday 12pm to 2pm (Reservation times are 12pm, 12:15pm or 12:30pm): three courses (entrée, main & dessert) for $39 or you can select any two courses for $34.
Dinner Wednesday & Thursday 6pm to 9pm (Reservation times are 6pm 6:15pm or 6:30pm): three course menu for $39.
Our 6 course Degustation Menu* is served on specific dates for lunch & dinner and is also only $39
Our meals are usually served Table d’hôte (alternate drop).
Please note bookings are highly recommended to avoid disappointment. For group bookings of 11 people or more please contact us by phone 02 7920 0909 (9am to 4pm) or email si.theapprentice@tafensw.edu.au.
We accept payment by EFTPOS, Visa or MasterCard. We do not accept cash or split bills.
All dietary requirements must be advised in advance. (*Unfortunately we cannot change our Degustation Menu).

    Amazing venue. Never knew about it untill i searched for places in the city. Small yet didn't fell crampt, Great ambiance, i love the vibe of the place, feels like an old Cafe in Paris combined with a speakeasy in NYC. Will have to tyr the cocktails next time as they all looked amazing. Food was delicious though $27 for a burger was kinda pushing it but was delicous nonetheless. 2 mains, 2 drinks and a coffee was just less than $95 which was reasonable. Yes i will be going back with the rest of my family.

    From the moment I booked, through all subsequent revisions of booking, arrival early and being seated whilst our table was made ready; being seated and a manager explaining the menu, taking drinks orders, and food being served - it was fantastic! Efficient and friendly service. The food was lovely and we had plenty. Our experience manager checked in on us and made sure everything was running smoothly. It really made having a group catch up fantastic. I only wish we could pay separately but it doesn’t warrant knocking a star off. Thank you for a lovely evening.
