Sycamore

This was our first time dining at Sycamore. We came into town to take my niece out for her birthday. Everything we ordered was delicious (and we ordered a lot). My steak was cooked to perfection, my son raved about the chicken pot pie, my husband’s polenta and porcini ravioli and my niece’s falafel dishes were equally as good! We also loved all of our appetizers. In addition, the overall vibe of Sycamore is great - fun energy. Some might say it’s loud, but I like restaurants that feel energized! And once last comment, every staff member we encountered was awesome too. Thank you for a memorable night!

We love it! Never disappoints! Duck board was fantastic.

All the dishes we ordered were delicious. Squash, mushrooms and sunchokes, pasta, and duck board. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and wish they would open a Boston location!

We love this restaurant! The food is nothing less than fantastic. Many unusual menu items and the menu changes often. The wait staff is attentive, knowledgeable and very helpful. Can't wait until my next visit.

It was our first time here and we will be back! Amazing food and our server Paul was great! It was nice to see someone so passionate about their job. A must try!

Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff, great food. Everything was delicious but worth trying the lamb shank and the brussels sprouts. I was impressed that they had taken such good care with acoustics so that a crowded small room with brick walls did not seem noisy. Syc Pick was a fun way to go.

Wonderful food, I had Gnocchi, my fiancé had scallops. We both truly enjoyed! Ordered the chocolate cake dessert, they included a sample of the beignet; both were wonderful. Service was also very friendly and attentive.

I’ve never had anything but absolutely stellar experiences here and this visit was no exception. We were having a difficult time deciding between menu items, so we went with the chef’s whim tasting and left it up to the kitchen, and it was the right decision. As always, service is warm and friendly while maintaining precision, and food is expertly executed and never disappoints.

A friend of mine and I decided to check out Sycamore on a whim as it had good reviews and good looking menu. It’s a small, but comfortable space. It is very warm an inviting, with a very professional staff of servers. I started out with a Penicillin cocktail, which was outstanding, and we ended up splitting a bottle of wine over dinner that was a great suggestion from our server and not exorbitantly priced. We started with duck rillettes and bluefish pate, which were each delightful. We split a pasta course of gnocchi with a bolognese like ragu, which was perfectly prepared. My entree of boudin blanc with crabapple chutney was a showstopper. Both a feast for the eyes and palate. My friend had steak frites that he was very happy with as well. I can imagine at popular times, parking would be a real headache in Newton Center, but on a random Tuesday, it wasn’t bad at all. Highly recommended.

Paul is the man! I love how he carefully checked to make sure my food didn't have any allergies in them. I would love if they had gluten free pasta or some sort of rice noodle dish. 0ther than that, everything was great!

The service and food were outstanding, as always. Our only complaint is that the noise level in the main dining room was quite high. As a party of four, we had trouble hearing one another. We noticed that the music was on and when that occurs, the diners talk louder to be heard over the music. Between the music and the louder voices, the noise level was too high for us.

The Syc picks!!

While Sycamore was a nice restaurant I found the menu very limiting. We tried the chef’s October menu and while the sausage was delicious and easy to eat the schnitzel was very dry and it was the delicious mushroom sauce that saved it.
I happen to be a person who loves sour Kraft and the there wasn’t much sour kraut but lots of dough. I realize you are eclectic in your menu but sometimes it would be good to have a simple something for those of us who enjoy simple food.

We enjoyed the chef’s tasting menu and everything was delicious. The service was excellent - always available without hovering. The ambiance was warm and comfortable. We would highly recommend Sycamore for a wonderful night out!

I asked the waitress to pack the remainder of our food but she didn't. Otherwise, everything was good. Service was overall good. Food was better.

I had not been in at least 4 years since moving out of the area. It was better then I remember, service and food were great as always.

Lovely place, great atmosphere, had not been back in a while, loved their meat boards. This visit, excellent turnip special, very fishy tasting squid, so-so clam pasta without much clam and none whole in entree size, bluefish pate good texture not a lot of flavor. Nice evening but have to say a surprising food disappointment overall.
