Yum! Excellent Margaritas, Pasta, Steak, Tiramisu, Wine
Great lunch, outside patio was perfect for an afternoon break in wine tasting.
The Golden Beet Salad was spectacular. Will definitely have to order again the next time. One of my favorite spots in the Santa Ynez Valley.
We loved it so much for our anniversary that we are going back for lunch today! Got the Caesar, burrata, steak, and one of the pastas...had sausage? Everything was fantastic and the restaurant had great atmosphere
Yum. For some reason slow service this trip??? Octopus is the best anywhere, period.
My wife and I love this place. We come often and eat at the bar, enjoying the banter with the bartenders. The food is terrific, especially the 'specials', which are seasonal. Everything is fresh, cooked just right, and very flavorful. Plus really good cocktails and wine list.
Great new find for us. Beautifully prepared food with excellent flavors. Fresh colorful ingredients and house made pasta was perfect.
A large private party in the adjoining room consumed much of the staff attention and caused the environment to feel rushed.
Will want to return on our next trip.
Excellent food and service. The pizza and all the pastas were beyond delicious!
Fabulous fresh pea salad made of fresh pea pods and peas, sweet and fresh from the garden. Perfection. The grilled prawns arrived as whole prawns in their shells with eyes and antennae, but split and easily lifted out. However, the flesh was soggy and mealy. I’m guessing grilling in the shell steamed the meat and made it mushy. No flavor, unappetizing texture. Beautiful presentation on a bed of baby spinach with heirloom tomatoes. Nice wine and craft beer selection.
The food and creative cocktails never disappoint. The summer dining outside is quite and comfortable.
Dined there on September 4th for our 53rd anniversary. Food was great. Had the artichoke, olives, beet salad, short rib ragu and chocolate gelato. All outstanding. Our waitress Brooke did a very nice job!
Great ambiance. However I think there prices are very high. $23 for a salad! Benches are too high outside. For $200 for four peeps for lunch, I want my feet to touch on the ground. Wine pours are $ and small. Best to bring your own!
Always exceptional, always an anticipated treat . An out of the way gem I have proudly recommended to friends.
We were on vacation and stopped in after wine tasting all day. We were disappointed by the very slow service.
We got sat at a lousy table even though I expressed it was our Anniversary. The ambiance was not as great as everyone said and the food was good but not outstanding. Expected too much maybe?
Very nice dining experience, still thinking about the fresh pea salad I had, really wonderful. Appetizers were great too, enjoyed the olives and the artichokes, great flavors.
Server was great, but the food was not as good as it has been on previous visits. The lamb did not have much flavor and the artichoke was very “wet” and hard to eat with the cheese on top. They don’t have the original Rancher cocktail on the menu but the bartender did make it for me.
We live in town and love the location but not sure we will be coming back any time soon.
The gnocchi was the worst I’ve ever had. It was chewy and looked like rabbit food pellets. Trader Joe’s makes a better one. The pizza was subpar. No clue why anyone raves about this place.
We eat at SY Kitchen every time we're in the Santa Ynez valley. The food is predictably good, the wine list is great, cocktail menu is on point. Some of the tables are in sort of awkward places, so you either luck out with a great spot or you're stuck with a table against the wall in a hallway leading to the kitchen. The outside patios (both in front and out back) are beautiful. I recommend ordering a glass of wine after your meal and sitting out by the fireplace.
I have my own pizza oven in my backyard, and never would venture out to eat a pizza, made by someone else. I have to tell you, their pizza was better than what I can produce. Their crust, had the right amount of crunch and chewiness. The flavor was perfect. At the end of the meal, I wanted their dough recipe, but did not ask for it. Next visit, I will!
Six different people told me that I had to go to SY Kitchen. I made a reservation since we were in Santa Ynez doing some wine tasting for the weekend. The food was good, but not as great as I thought it would be. My boyfriend had an octopus salad to start which he loved. I started with their special watermelon salad which was good, not great. We shared the short rib pasta which was okay, but I have definitely had tastier. Not sure that I’d return since there are other great restaurants in the area to try.
We visit the area twice a year just so we can eat at SY Kitchen. I dream about their pea salad in between visits!
SY Kitchen never disappoints. The service and food are always excellent. Although the jidori chicken was a little overcooked, this is the first time I've ever had even the slightest issue with our meal. It's casual and energetic. My only suggestion is avoiding tables near the swinging door leading from the bar area into the other dining area.
S.Y. Kitchen was a fantastic venue for us - the food was excellent, fresh and creatively prepared. The service was spot on - the right amount of checking - never interrupting us - while keeping us well provisioned. Can't go wrong here!
A nice venue. Our meals were fine and the service was good.
Hands down best birthday dinner ever!! Thank you!!
We had a lovely time sitting at the bar. The bartenders were fun to chat with and they make excellent cocktails. Get the Octopus salad.
Went for a birthday dinner. Food is amazing and service is top notch. Lovely interior decor and ambiance as well. Best stop in town.
We don't get to Santa Ynez often, but SY is an experience we always look forward to. It is a very unassuming place from the outside, but super comfortable inside. Great service and outstanding food!
I would go back for a date night, or with friends.
So loud.......the noise level increases as the night wears on.....signs that people are having fun but you have to shout to carry on a conversation......it's always been that way but this last visit was over the top.
Excellent food, service and ambience. This was our 40th anniversary and was a wonderful experience. Highly recommended. We sat on the patio as the noise level inside was a bit high.
Very nice ambiance located in wine area. Highly recommend for a great dinner after a day of vineyard tastings
Surprisingly good fresh ingredients prepared well!
Never disappointed eating here. The food is exceptional as is the service. Personal service & savor every bite. Can’t wait to go again.
Great food and wine in Santa Ynez. We came here twice during our two days in wine country. Very friendly and accommodating staff.
Simply the best! We absolutely love this place. The food is incredible - truffle pizza omfg! The service is perfection. Alesio and Erik are awesome! But everyone there is.
Very good food. Unfortunately, due to staffing problems (admitted by the wait staff) there was too long a delay between courses (in one instance 40 minutes). This delay led to disruption of what should have been a very pleasant dining experience.
Great fusion Italy kitchen! Big portions and local farm produce! Steak is tender and juicy! Wonderful dinner experience!
Good service, and atmosphere. A very enjoyable experience with excellent food. Homemade pasta! And the octopus was outstanding. Knowledgeable and thorough wait staff. Will definitely be back.
We were visiting the Chumash casino and wanted to get away for a
nice meal. A friend recommended this restaurant and we were not
disappointed! The dinner specials we ordered were delicious!
