ALWAYS enjoy SY Kitchen. The food is fresh, always creative, flavorful and just plain really GOOD! It can get a little noisy, depending where you are sitting, and tables can be close together and somewhat crowded. However, I wouldn't let that stop me at all. Every time we go up to the SY Valley we go to SY Kitchen. And, on a balmy spring or summer evening, sitting outside by the firepit with a cocktail or glass of pre or post dinner wine....is perfect. Mostly frequented by locals--and locals know the best spots!
Been here a few times. Every time the food is incredible. Looking forward to my next visit!
It was a very good experience. Someone recommended us but couldn’t be better. We both loved the ambiance , food , service.
Excellent in all ways. The food and service were superb. Can't wait to go back!
I've been here multiple times and the food and drinks are always great. If you're wine tasting in the Santa Ynez area, a stop here for a nice dinner is recommended. I would recommend a change of pace with the mixed drinks, though as they are great!
Great food, great service. The server went out of his way to help find something for our 8 year old. They don’t have a kids’ menu.
SY Kitchen is one of our favorites. Luca, Francesco and all the crew are amazing. Creative specials and natural ingredients with the freshest fare. Great for a quiet brunch/lunch or a more lively dinner. A must visit stop!
best way to end 2018. Everything was beautiful cooked. Some of the best octopus I´ve ever tried in America.
Went there on New Years Eve so of course the place was packed and noisy, but fun. Service was amazing considering how busy it was. I ordered off the regular menu, steak and Caesar salad; my husband ordered off the specials, oysters (excellent) and a crab and mushroom pasta. He said there was hardly any crab in it. It was OK but not as good as my steak. Wine was perfect. We’ve been there a few times before and it’s usually very good.
Wonderful New Year Eve dinner ! Service was excellent (he made us feel like we were his only customers) Pea salad - Yummy, crunchy, intensely flavorful ! Roasted rosemary potatoes melted in your mouth !!!
We had a lovely New Year’s dinner complete with champagne and beautiful food. Everything was spot on! Happy new year.
Service was beyond excellent food was fantastic except our chicken was pretty salty. Waiter immediately offered something else which we deferred from being so full from the appetizers and our other main and bread. Was noisy in parts but we spent three hours there as a couple table and never once felt rushed to leave on an extremely busy and high demand night. Will go back.
Forgettable. Service very slow. Not worthy to seat 45 minutes before our order was taken.
My husband and I went to dinner for the first time here over the weekend - our reservations got a little mixed up but they resolved the problem and gave us a prime table. The place was extremely busy but the service was outstanding - the bar got a bit backed up but overall excellent. The food was delicious - will not disappoint- the prosciutto and melon with fresh mint and the squash soup was so flavorful. We both had pasta dishes - wonderful flavors and cooked to perfection- and the gelato was rich and creamy - romantic evening - 4 stars!
SY Kitchen is a must-go spot every time I am in the SY Valley!!
Only comment is the heaters on the ceiling were way too hot. (So hot that my hair was hot) A number of people including my wife & I had to move. Otherwise always love coming to SY. Great food & service.
We had a very nice meal at SY. Only negative was being seated in back room that has no ambiance at all, plus one very large table that can make it noisy. My guest had the branzinno special and loved it. I had pasta with short rib sauce. Also very good. Excellent service.
We go to SY Kitchen often. Took our daughter who was visiting us for the holidays. The special pasta with scallops on this particular night was way too salty. Also, the beet salad Is delicious but is way too many beets and no lettuce - adding arugula would be nice. The food is consistently excellent but just a few disappointments this night.
Always good. Good service. Food very good. Always loud....I guess that's the way they like it. Tables a little crowded together....I guess that's the way they like it. Overall....the reason it is so crowded and loud is that they have many repeat customers and they like the place.
Everyone was very nice and accommodating, especially when we asked to change table and then to turn off the heater all that while asking for a high chair!!! Service was great, and the food was delicious.
The only thing was that the tables are just way to close to each others. I worked in a restaurant that did the same thing to have more business, it works cause tourist still will come! Just be prepare for it!
Its pricey but when on a trip with family its worth it! Its a pretty restaurant and the service from host to busser is not desapointjng!
Very busy and loud but the food made it worth the visit. All of our dishes were outstanding. We shared everything so we could try more items. We had the fresh pea salad, beet salad, cauliflower appetizer and mushroom pasta.
Stick with the pasta pizza and wavy sliders. My chicken was extremely dry and tasteless. Avoid tables closest to the ceiling heaters.
We have eaten at SY Kitchen several times over the last couple of years, and each time has been wonderful. Make sure you start with the roasted olives and a craft cocktail.
SY Kitchen is a must-stop place when visiting the Central Coast. The locals love it and it has a great "neighborhoody" vibe. Food is really solid, the pea salad was SO good. Service is friendly but professional. Love this place.
Food was very good. Sit in main seating area, windows facing street for more ambiance. The back room is too sparse and over lit, void of any ambiance. We moved our table. Local ingredients and wine. Caesar salad was perfect. Salmon dish and Clams with spaghetti noodles in a white wine/garlic/ olive oil was very good too. We had the infused gelato with carmalized banana and berries. Wonderful.
Excellent service and food, would and have recommended to all!
We went to SYK with friends to celebrate their anniversary. We got seated promptly at reservation time, had delicious wine, appetizers and food and they brought a special dessert for our friends' anniversary. All around tasty foody experience! We had many of the chef specials and they were delicious! Thanks SYK!
Always a great stop for lunch or dinner. Some great regular menu items complemented by seasonal favorites. The wine list is pretty good as well.
Always excellent and creative in a beautiful rustic setting. Service as always was high quality and friendly
My partner and I visited Solvang for a night and traveled the couple of miles to SY for dinner, based on reviews, it did not disappoint. It was fantastic, from food to service. Eric, our waiter was friendly, attentive, professional, and personable. This will definitely be our go-to restaurant when we are in the area. Food was amazing! Can’t say enough good things.
Amazing as always! Alessio Killed it...Again. Douglass is a doll. Can’t wait to go back!!
Always a treat to come out and enjoy a lovely evening at The SY Kitchen. From our attentive host, Alessio to the bar treats and to our delicious food prepared by the very talented chefs , our evening was a delight.
Looking forward to a return visit.
Would be unfair to rate this restaurant based on the brief time spent here. We went for a small meal that consisted of a bowl of soup and ceasar salad. We did not have an entree. The minestrone soup was very different from what was expected. It was thick and somewhat bland in flavor. The ceasar salad was simple with chunks of lettuce and ceasar dressing. It included a large parmesan toast served on the side which was very good. Neither dish would I say were exceptional, just average. The vibe in the room was nice. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. We were just not very hungry.
As always, fantastic experience and food. Matthew, our server was helpful and efficient. Would highly recommend SY.
Always a treat to visit when I'm in Santa Ynez. The food is creative and delicious, the staff is attentive with good recommendations and they have creative cocktails and unique wine offerings
It was a perfect birthday dinner. We ended eating outside, which had the perfect ambiance, which included heaters. The staff was amazing, and their wine and food suggestions were on point. We loved/had the octopus as an appetizer, and the mushroom pasta, and the rack of lamb for dinner. The portions were just perfect! If you’re looking for a taster meal in Santa Ynez, this is your best bet!! Absolutely delicious!
We had another exceptional meal there for my husband's birthday. The Gnocchi, Persimmon Salad & wine were all perfect. Service was fabulous as well. It's a little noisy when it's busy, but worth it as the food and good vibes are great.
Great food and service.
great pasta dish-ragu w/duck.
service was very good, attentive w/o being rushed.
servicer came outside of restaurant to hand us our leftovers because we forgot to grab
Great food and wine list. We sat outside but with the enclosed patio and heaters, it was still very good.
