SY Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
We tried this restaurant on our recent visit to Santa Ynez. We had tried to get in previously but it was new and completely booked. The wait was worth it. The braised rib pasta was to die for. The pasta was cooked al dente and it was so tasty! My husband had the lamb and found it to be one of the better dishes he's had. The wine by the glass menu was excellent as we had been wine tasting all day and could not fathom a full bottle. The only teeny complaint was the ambience. We sat near a major walk way and we were bumped often. Also the covered patio area was extremely loud. We had asked for a quiet table but perhaps one does not exist in this very happening restaurant. We would definitely recommend and hope to return one day.
The service is excellent and the food is absolutely delicious! Exactly how real Italian food is supposed to taste 👌🏽The ambiance, the decor, I love everything about this place and would recommend to anyone ☺️ The location is perfect. It’s not too hidden and not too obvious as to become easily crowded.
I can't say enough about SY Kitchen! I am a local and it is my favorite restaurant in the area. The food is superb, the staff is top notch and extremely friendly. Every meal has been wonderful and I always look forward to the specials. I am an Airbnb host and it is the number one recommendation I make to our guests.
My husband and I wanted some alone time so we went to the SY Kitchen for a date night. It is always a treat for us to have dinner at the SY Kitchen. The drinks are amazing and the food is flavorful with every bite and the waitstaff is always on point! We recommend beginning the dinner with the Artichoke ... it's beyond delicious!
Beautiful and delicious. The menu is enticing with imaginative and local appeal. BUT... $40 for a pizza?!? Really? It was the evening special. It was good, but the “special” part was the price. That said, we will be back soon! It’s our favorite dining spot in wine country.
Service was perfection. Our waiter really knew the menu and made terrific recommendations. He checked on us often even though we were the only ones on the patio.
Food was amazing. The menu is interesting and thoughtful. The cocktails are inventive.
And dogs are allowed on the heard patio!!! A gigantic plus. There were 4 of us humans and 3 canine companions. A perfect cold late autumn evening.
We've been here multiple times but we were not very impressed. The amount of food you get is not worth what you pay. The pizza was mediocre and the pasta, while homemade, was nothing that incredible (particularly for what the meal cost.
I will probably not go back anymore.
Exceptional meal. The artichoke appetizer is probably the best artichoke I’ve ever had, with a sauce and pecorino cheese cooked in. A warm octopus salad was incredible, and the fresh pea salad had both the peas and blanched pea pods, among other things that were wonderful. The service was incredibly friendly without being invasive.
PERHAPS WE CAUGHT THEM ON A BAD NIGHT . . . we were looking for an Italian restaurant and this restaurant came recommended by the server in a local wine bar. Long story short - the roast chicken was tasteless. The pasta w/ shortrib ragu was interesting and put togetjer well, but I've had better. The server was rude. The wine had turned. We ended up going to another restaurant for appys and dessert. I might give them another try . . . but none of my companions will.
Loud, uncomfortable, hectic environment, overpriced. No personalized attention. We called the restaurant earlier in the day and had to leave a message - their phone message said they would call back. They never did. I left a message that we were bringing a couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They made no acknowledgment of this, seated us in the worst possible spot in the restaurant (until we spoke up and said that the table in a doorway was unacceptable). We were embarrassed beyond words to have brought guests to this restaurant.
The good: food was well executed and delicious(octopus, branzino, filet)
The bad: I ordered a Manhattan to start and ordered a Pinot to arrive with my app. My octopus app showed up 10min before my Manhattan and the wine was late too. I hate that.
You guys nailed the most important aspect though, the food was excellent. I'll certainly be back.
My husband and I celebrated our 46th anniversary by dining at SY Kitchen for the first time. Even though it was a Monday night, the restaurant was very lively. The grilled artichoke was delicious and we both enjoyed my pasta choice, which was wild mushroom pappardelle. Service, even though they were busy, was great. We will be back to try their old-fashioneds, which we hear are the best.
Really enjoyed the grilled artichoke here. I thought it was much better than the one we had at another local restaurant. The gnocchi with the sausage tomato sauce was delicious. The gnocchi was so light and tender. My husband had the lamb shank with creamy polenta. It was a very generous portion and roasted to perfection. I would highly recommend SY Kitchen to locals and vacationers.
My husband and I loved this restaurant. We had gone wine tasting during the day so opted for a cocktail instead...I had the valley girl which was fantastic and my hubby had their old fashioned which he said was the best he ever had. Our food was exceptional and we can't wait to come back. The tomatoes and mozzarella was so delicious...the tomatoes tasted like tomatoes are supposed to...incredible. Everything we had was just fabulous.
