Chicken over cooked
Wrong sides were brought w/ my meal
We asked for a table gBy the window & we were told they were reserved for patrties of 4 They then went & sat 3 of the window tables with 2 people
Disappointing experience. I made reservation for a special dinner for Mother's Day party of 10. I would not recommend it.
We had a glass of wine at the bar because the hostess told us that we could not be seated before our reservation time because of a large party. Notably, there was only one other table occupied in the main dining room—at 6:30 pm on a Saturday night. Just before 7, we were escorted to our table. My friend ordered a Caesar’s salad and I ordered the stuffed shrimp. Within the next 20 minutes, 3 other tables were seated. All of their drinks and first courses arrived and we were still waiting for our food at 7:50. We complained to the hostess, who simply said that our “waitress is slow”. She scurried away and didn’t help us. We then flagged another server, asking for her to jail our waitress. Finally. We put money on the table for my glass of wine and left at 8 pm, as our dinner was making its way to us from the kitchen.
The service was very good - our particular server was very attentive and friendly, along with with gal who brought us our food. The burrata special starter was delicious and presentation was beautiful. We had 3 shareable sides: mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, and creamed spinach and each was truly amazing. We got 2 special rib eye filets and one kobe - my steak came out medium well instead of medium rare and she toonniy back but by the time it came back the others were done eating and I was full of sides so the very stoic manager came out and took my plate away - luckily they didn’t charge us for it / nor should they have. The other steaks were good but not great. Everything else was great so I gave 4 stars for that.
Celebrated our anniversary with a wonderful dinner, excellent service and beautiful views. One of our favorite places for special occasions.
Switchback Grille was another pleasant surprise in the Zion/Springfield business district. Prices were a little hefty, food quality was very good, and the service above average. Our server kept reaching across my wife’s front to replace water, silverware , etc. When you are asking $60-80 per person for a meal, you would expect the server to be be mindful of server etiquette! This aside, the overall experience deserves a four star rating. Thanks. PS- Jack’s next door under common ownership is also very good !
I ordered the filet and shrimp that were both cool temperature wise. The salad that my wife ordered was not the one that was served. Kitchen needs some attention. Probably wouldn’t recommend based on the food and price point.
Service was excellent on all levels. Ambiance was wonderful as well.
I was disappointed with the steak. Steak was supposed to be rib eye. It was more like a sirloin. Absolutely no marbling or fat on the steak. In the plus side it was thick but overdone. ( I requested medium rare and it was a solid medium) . The other food was good but not noteworthy. Chocolate cake was dry.
Pricing was quite high for the quality of the food.
Southwestern decor with beautiful views of mountains.
Husband enjoyed thick slice prime rib. I had pasta
Absolutely scrumptious dessert chocolate banana bread pudding. Fresh glazed banana slices. Big enough to share
Wait staff very attentive
Extensive wine menu
Switchback Grille is a lovely restaurant and feels very upscale for Zion. It was our anniversary so it was a special night. We had the stuffed prawns and the scallops and the berry salad and they were all outstanding. I would recommend any or all of these suggestions. I don't eat meat so I really appreciated all the fish options both on the menu and the specials. It's rare to find that many seafood options on a menu that's known as a steakhouse. My review is mostly all positive but the two negatives were 1) I felt the prices of the entrees were high and I'm from the Bay Area so I'm used to high prices but it felt high for the area 2) they could really use some interesting vegetarian options. The couple at the table next to ours left because there were no vegetarian options on the menu. To me, that's a very important omission that is easily remedied. All in all it was a very nice restaurant with great food.
Terrible service. Took a long time to see a waiter, took a long time to get drinks, steaks were overcooked. The manager basically acted like we were terrible people when we noted that what we ordered was not what we received - set the tone for the entire meal. Mediocre food - really weird large big tables and chairs so it was hard to hear. Good view though.
The one bright spot was one of the server assistants. He was great! I wish he had been our server. We went here because we were a big group and they could accommodate us on a Saturday evening - that should have been the red flag.
Loved the Alaska Halibut and the filet. I thought the food was excellent. The manager came to the table to tell us their computer systems were down so we had to pay with cash. Asked if anyone told us when we arrived and we said no. We were at their gift shop two days before and were told their systems were down and had to pay cash. Most people don’t carry a lot of cash so I would recommend you know before you go here.
Good food. A little pricey. Make a reservation. Accommodated gluten-free.
Switchback was great. My party and I would wiling return.
Switchback hosted a party of 10 for a birthday. They were flexible allowing us to increase party size. Service was attentive without being intrusive.
Most people had great meal. My trout was dry and Cesar salad average. Was suppose to get Brussels sprouts but got peas instead — no explanation. That was only problem.
Restuarant took care of birthday celebrations nicely.
Wine selection good and reasonably priced.
Fabulous food and great service. Lovely environment for a special dinner.
Great steaks, good wine list. The dessert was delicious.
Lively. Great server- Rachel. Took her recommendations and everything was great
I took my husband to dinner to celebrate his birthday. We arrived slightly early for our reservation, and were seated immediately at a nice window table with a spectacular view. We ordered cocktails and the scallop appetizer. While we waited for that to arrive, the manager Deric arrived and greeted us, giving my husband a very nice handwritten birthday cards and said dessert was on them! We then shared a spinach salad with sliced strawberries, Gorgonzola cheese, and candied pecans - delicious! My husband ordered a filet and loaded baked potato and I had the pan seared salmon on a prawn hash cake with lemon Burrell Blanca and Thai chili sauce. Everything was tasty and prepared perfectly. For dessert we had the chocolate gateau cake, a Hugh slice for two people, with vanilla ice cream. This was delivered by Traci our server, who was very friendly, with a sparkling candle on top (the candle refused to go out, which had us laughing). A wonderful dining experience for a special occasion. Thank you!
Fantastic steak - reasonably priced Porterhouse with three sides more than enough for two! The interior is quite cool with a fantastic large window to look out at the hills. The main disappointment was the wine - $57 for a really bad Cabernet. iPad style wine menu was quite cool. Service was generally good but let down by wine menu not being kept up to date and feeling mis-sold. We ordered the 2013 and the 2015 was served. When pointed out the manager explained this is what the state had sent. Didn’t seem a good enough excuse. They would not reduce the price which was pretty poor. We were offered to choose a different wine but felt pressured / rushed with two people stood over our table so left it - but the wine really wasn’t drinkable for me (partner finished it off however!).
The meats were a little overpriced for the amount you get . $46 for a ribeye steak is a little much, but other than that everything from the bread dipping sauce to the creamed corn was absolutely delicious.
The food was good. Rob our waiter was great; very polite and quick. Overall, I would recommend it.
Impeccable service, everything done to perfection with remarkable attention to detail. Beautiful dining room. Truly enjoyable experience. Highly recommended
Food & service was excellent. The manager even wrote me a happy birthday card. Love that place!
Our food was fabulous. Service was a bit on the slow side.
Excellent steak, a little pricey.
My Wife and I had been there before and it was very good. So, I decided to drive 50 mikes for Valentines Day dinner. They exceeded our expectations and we had a great time. The Salmon I order was the best I’ve ever eaten and my wife’s Scallops were excellent. Overall excellent. Worth the drive
Beautiful place everything was perfect! We always love the Switchback..
Good food. A bit overpriced for what you got. Servings too big. Smallest steak is 9 ounces. Would have liked a filet but it was 11 ounces! Would split entree next time. Overall nice. Feels touristy.
We went for dinner in November. I had reservations & we were seated right away. Although there were many open seats since Zion in the Fall is much less crowded than the summer. The wait staff & service were fast and recommendations were spit on. Great food. Pricey, as sides are alacarte but worth it. Overall was 5 star experience.
Great atmosphere. A bit pricey but worth every penny. We had the berry salad and the wedge. Both were excellent. We then ordered the scallops. The presentation was over and beyond and the taste was just as good. I highly recommend this hidden gem.
Everything is great from the bread to the main entrees.
Very nice looking restaurant
Service very good
Food was just ordinary and not inexpensive
Setting is nice. Food is OK but overpriced as are the wines. Service was subpar, especially for a restaurant with high aspirations and price. 20% tip was added to bill for our party of 4 without explanation.
The food was very good, but a bit on the expensive side for the overall meal. For a special meal, this would be a good choice. The servers did their job but not overly friendly. The atmosphere was VERY nice.
Excellent service, food, atmosphere. A nice quiet, relaxing evening after a day spent in Zion National Park. A great ending to a wonderful day.
Filet was tough and over-done, potatoes cold. For a premium priced steak, very disappointing. Our waiter was very accommodating and professional, however. He recognized it even before anything may have been mentioned. He apologized and gave us desert on the house. The desert was actually very good.
My wife and I came here during our latest visit to Zion and celebrated my wife's 66th birthday. We're very happy that we did. Both the food and the service were nothing short of spectacular. We had a wonderful time! I don't write restaurant reviews very often, but I can't speak highly enough about the Switchback Grill. Frankly, as amazing of a place Zion is, I'd have to say that having dinner here was one of the highlights of our entire visit.
We enjoyed it here so much so we ate three nights in a row. The scallop appetizer was delicious as was the fish and the venison rack although for forty dollars would have like more then two ribs. The wine was wonderful. The two waitresses and the bar maid were all fantastic . They were Rosemarie , Jenny and Erin. Jake was the bartender and was very likable. Derek the manger came to our table asked how our meal was, which was appreciated. All in all a fantastic expiernce three nights in a row. Helped make our Zion trip very enjoyable
Friend and I were on vacation there from Michigan. What a gem of a spot. We talked about the Pecan encrusted Hawaiian Sea Base for 2-3 days after our trip. Our waiter has us laughing the whole evening and it was well worth the money. If I'm in this neck of the woods again it will be the top of my dining list.
Gargantuan portions and high prices to match. 80's throwback menu and ambiance. Food was well prepared though.
Lackluster wine list. Even though the restaurant knew we were celebrating a birthday, they didn't acknowledge at the table. Martini at the bar beforehand was a mishap, and bartender avoided us after we sent back the drinks.
