We've been here many, many times, for special occasions and at times when we just couldn't stay away - the food, atmosphere and service are always THE BEST! When Chef Ueli sings along with Fritz on the accordion, the entire place lights up! many of the dinner meals simply can't be found elsewhere - our favorites include clam soup and bunderfleisch appetizers;, roasted pork shank, wiener schnitzel, linguine and clams, veal cordon bleu, and anything else they recommend! Go, relax and sing along, even if you don't understand the songs in French, Italian, German, etc.

I've eaten here many times, I tried it for the first time in 2006 before a trip to Zurich to see what Swiss/German food would be like. The food is amazing! I've had the Sauerbraten, the Rouladen, the Wurstplate and the Eisbein and all are very good. My husband usually eats a schnitzel and I've tried his, but honestly after you eat a very good dish here one is compelled to eat that one again and again. :-) It was my husband's birthday, so he wanted to come here, we had expected to book a party of 6 or so, but the email entitled "good german food and beer" had a bigger pull than I had expected and there were 13 of us! When we arrived a table for 13 was ready and waiting, our guests arrived 2 by 2 and I think the last one arrived 15 minutes late, but we had already ordered german beer and bavarian pretzels, so the party had already started. The service was so attentive you would think we were a party of 2, our server Jackie attended to our every need, like we were members of her family. Everyone loved their meal and commented on what a great party it was. Live music, beer, song, good German food. What more could you want?

You won't find another Restaurant in Los Angeles County with as authentic Swiss cuisine. All that work at the Swiss Chef whether at the bar or table service are all so accommodating and so pleasant with all requests. Judy ,Uli's wife, is so friendly, you always feel like you are having dinner with friends or family. It's a great place to bring friends, especially friends who have traveled and want to experience a bit of the Ole country. It is very clear that the Chef Uli enjoys everything about his restaurant, the special personalized attention he gives to all his customers is beyond compare but what is beyond even this is the special attention he gives to the cuisine on his varied Menu. If you have been to Europe especially Switzerland you can attest to the authenticity of all the cuisine. The servings are more than generous. The atmosphere along with the music and the occasional song Uli will sing in various languages, it's all a bit like going back in time or at the very least like going back to Switzerland. Hope you enjoy the Swiss Chef as much as we did. Bill Martin

I have been to the Swiss Chef twice, once with a Swiss group and once on a romantic Valentines Day supper. This is about as Swiss as you are going to get in Southern California. The food was great, the wine list appears good (I am not an adequate wine connoisseur), they have Swiss beer and I am told the music is quite authentic (perhaps not a compliment).

This is a great find in the Valley. The food is good, especially the red cabbage. I'm not a cabbage fan per se, but this was really good. Thwy have a really good menu which has a combination of german cuisine, swiss and italian. The enyertainment is a swiss/german guy playing the accordion and singing, nice touch and hes super friendly to the customers. I would definately go back again.

My wife and I were the first to arrive for dinner. Greeted cordially and given a choice of seating. Wait staff was very attentive, initially. We ordered an appetizer, Chaas Spatzli (Cheese Spatzles), which was quite bland. Website menu says $12, but we were charged $16. The entrees followed appropriately. I tried the "Berner Platte" (pork and sausages) and my wife had the "Rouladen" (braised beef). Website says $24 and $22, respectively. We were charged $28 each. There were components of each of our plates that were very good, and some that simply lacked flavor. With the Berner Platte, the sauerkraut was very mild and did not provide any flavor punch to any of the pork components of the dish. The mustards served with the dish, however, were excellent. I mixed and matched, creating different flavor profiles to try and get the most out of everything on the plate. The pork chop was one of the best I have ever had. Potatoes were overcooked, almost mush. All in all, a 50/50 on the Berner Platte. The Rouladen featured a braised, thinly sliced beef with a sweet and sour "jus" of sorts. The waiter brought us a sample of the sauce to taste first. It was very good on the side, but did not pair as well with the beef. The beef carried a flavor that stood on its own, without need for a sauce. It was very good on its own, and took a downturn with the sauce. More of the bland spatzli with it. Veggies were fine. Service was great until the entrees came out. Despite wait staff walking all around us while we were eating, not once did anyone ask how the meal was. On the whole, it was different, but not what I was expecting for the money. Beautiful interior.

Honestly, when the chef himself comes out wearing a beret and playing an accordian, you think you're on vacation either in some weird Alpine resort or or a European cruise! Either way: WINNAH! Warm and quirky with fantastic food and beer (1 liter STEINS!). A can't miss night of food fun!

This was a wonderful experience. I let the restaurant know that we would be celebrating my mother's 50th Birthday and they went all out to make her I happy and comfortable. My mother loved her evening and it was due to the fact that she was so well taken care and everyone made her feel very special. Thank you for the wonderful memory.

We had never been to Swiss Chef but were looking for a place with authentic European food. We found it at Swiss Chef, with its German, Austria, and Italian menu. Even the chef-owner spent a lot of time with customers, from meeting and greeting at the door, to helping serve and bus tables in his white chef's jacket. All the while, an accordianist played in the background. But when the chef owner took the mic and began to sing German songs, it was a bit loud and distracting; hence we give this eatery four stars instead of five. But others may love this musical interlude.
