Swiss Chalet is a treasure. We chose it for our daughter's 30th birthday party and everything was perfect. Can't recommend it enough ... a "must" for the complete Vail experience.
Always beautifully presented with outstanding and knowledgeable servers. Proud to be=ring friends to the Swiss!
Great food. Waiter could have done much better at waiting on us. We had to remind him far too much for anything. Other staff were great.
We had both a wonderful meal and excellent service for our birthday celebration.
First time eating fondue—ever. Opted for veggies & bread in the cheese w a house salad, which was an off-season special. Salad was very tasty w Bibb lettuce & a sour cream-based dressing. Take my advise ‘ skip the bread & butter offers initially after ordering. Very heavy meal even w mostly veggies (new potatoes, asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, carrot). The cheese is super thick & goopy. But very tasty. The staff was very pleasant, even presenting me w some chocolate dipped strawberries for my BD. Jason (or Justin maybe) provided excellent service. The decor & ambiance were quite alpine & very Swissy.
Overall it was good - Now we focused on the Fondue - which was average at best - you get a better experience at Melting Pot if fondue is what you want. A great example - the Cheese Fondue - all they give you to dip is bread, at the Melting Pot you get bread plus a selection of vegetables. On the main meal fondue - same thing melting pot had more options for sauces and dips. The Desert was excellent - so maybe we just picked the wrong items to eat. If we ever made it back again - we might try some of the original non-fondue dishes.
Loved the authentic feel of an alpine restaurant - the decor was spot on. You absolutely get an overwhelming smell of cheese when you walk in - this could be a great place to eat on the patio. Unfortunately, we were there when it was too cold to eat outside. The Fondu experience was fun - be ready to eat a lot! A unique experience.
Wonderful, stared a bit slow with the staff a acting a bit dazed, off season is slow at all the restaurants. But after that the rest was great. Good Food and drink. Authentic atmosphere, and an enjoyable experience.
Good service. Good fondue.
In Vail, the Swiss Chalet is a wonderful Tyrolean experience. The mountain ski flavor of the destination is complemented by delicious Swiss cuisine, including fondue. As an interactive dining experience it gets diners engaged through the self-cooking / dipping process. The food and service were both exceptional.
Have been to Swiss Chalet in the past. Brought family here this weekend - fantastic service, food and ambience. Family loved the interaction with their food and ability to cook it to their preferences.
Great meal and great off season deals. Loved it.
Swiss Chalet is the perfect venue for fondue on a fall evening. It is warm and delicious! We honestly felt as though in Europe from the moment we arrived! We were warmly greeted by authentically attired staff. The staff is the nicest group of folks, all always donning smiles. Our server, Cassondra, was attentive, which we appreciated. The food portions are large - no one walks away hungry! On a warmer night, we would have dined on the gorgeous patio. Parking is easy, as the hotel valet is comped by the restaurant.
Their wine list is truly "notable" to the point of being overwhelming; most selections are very expensive. I'm guessing the average price is $150/bottle. Most wines are $200 - $2,500. We found a few "good value" wines. We love great wines, and we don't believe in overpaying for them.
We enjoyed the three course fondue dinner. It was our anniversary; no mention of our celebration.
Had a great experience and would recommend this restaurant for a different dinning evening. Waitress WAS very helpful
Always a fun dining experience! We can't get enough of the fondue A wine list to die for - so hard to choose!!
Loved that you have such s different menu we will be.back
The service was very special from the bartender, Audrey, to the wait staff who took good care of my sisters and me. The cheese fondue was so good as was the appetizer spaetzel with crispy onions. It's a relaxing meal and the restaurant itself is so comfortable and warm feeling. It was not crowded at all do to the time of year. To top it all off with their special chocolate fondue made it an extra special experience.
We come to the Swiss Chalet every year as part of our fall Oktoberfest/leaf trip. It has never disappointed us. The food is excellent and well-presented. We get the cheese fondue appetizer which is a generous portion. We alternate between the weiner snitzel and the beef fondue cooked in broth. Both are outstanding. The atmosphere is simple with European decorations like Swiss cowbells. The waitresses wear classy dirndls, and the waiters wear elegant Swiss looking attire also. Service is always very attentive, and the pace is perfect. I hope they never change a thing from the decor to the menu to the attire for the wait staff. We feel like we have been on a mini-trip to Switzerland or Austria each time we visit.
Overall great experience at a favorite vail restaurant. Will definitely be back for ski season. Restaurant was quieter than expected but service and food was outstanding as always.
Jason, our waiter was awesome! The chef outdid himself - food was amazing!
Been to Switzerland several times and this was completely authentic. If I hadn't known better, I swear I was in zermatt
LOVED the ambiance and service. The food is also great, just don't expect the EXACT same thing if you've ever tried raclette or fondue in Europe. Special mention for them offering good gluten-free bread. My husband normally has to use potatoes to dip in the fondue, and at this restaurant he was able to enjoy a more authentic experience thanks to the gluten-free bread... Props !
Lovely dinner. We had Cheese Fondue - delicious. There were plenty of tempting options on the menu. The atmosphere is casual elegance, our waiter was superb, the rest of the wait staff was perfect, checking but not obtrusive. I would go again.
Average. Was expecting much better dinner considering the location and price. Might as well eating at one of the less expensive places in Vail and had better cuisine.
Our waitress made the place even better. She was extremely nice and responsive.
So fun and delicious!
Our son recommended this restaurant as a "must visit", and we are grateful to him. The wait staff was attentive, not overbearing; the food and wine were excellent; and, our table on the patio surrounded by beautiful plants and flowers was perfect. We were touched that the hostess brought us 2 glasses of champagne in celebration of our 40 years of marriage!
We are here for our 44th anniversary. The manager and her entire staff went out of their way to make our meal special. It was, and the food was terrific.
We come here every summer and we always look forward to dining here. The fondue is one of our favorites, but this year we tried the Matterhorn Racclette based on one of the waiter's recommendations. It has some similarities to fondue, but we enjoyed trying something new and really glad we did. This is a great place to go for a delicious meal and a romantic atmosphere.
The meat that we ordered was ordinary and not worth the price. Apple Strudel was even less than ordinary. We had better experience at Swiss Chalet in the past. Hopefully the quality of food will improve.
Food was excellent as always. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Vail. The staff is always really friendly and goes out of their way to make sure you enjoy your meal.
Ambiance and menu appeared promising, yet experience not commensurate. Wine price should be halved or volume doubled - way high even for Vail. Service very polite but sluggish. Poor job responding to raclette warmer not performing outside. Had to move inside. Significant lag time in making move. Had to make request to replace 'hot' potatoes (40 mins earlier) no longer so. And had to ask for bread, as 730 start time became 830p. Staff oblivious to any sense this may have been inconvenient. I could not in good faith recommend to anyone. Especially disappointing as we have German heritage and were looking forward to dining here on last evening. And had nice experience at Swiss Chalet in Breckinridge.
The meal was fun and unique! Our children enjoyed the fondue experience.
This is our second time here! Will come back. Waitress not as attentive as last visit was only complaint
Not great...or even good
I am glad I tried this restaurant but would not necessarily go back. The night we were there there was a large family with crying children late into the evening which did not make for a very enjoyable experience. I realize that it is not the restaurants fault, but that is what our experience was.
The food was good but too smelly inside the dining room. Also, their cooking plates don't work very well. So, if you go, order a real fondue (where they prepare the dip) instead of getting a heating plate and cooking it yourself.
I wouldn't go back because there are many other choices in town that are much better at this price.
Fondue doesn't really lend itself to groups larger than four. We were 8 and it was rather difficult. Also quite expensive for portion sizes even for Vail. Service was great.
Sat outside and enjoyed the delicious Alpler fondue - lovely!
