Great food! The waitress Sigi Spoiled us. French Onion soup is the best!
Food was not good. House salad was bland.
The staff was so friendly. Our conversation with them was just as good as the food. If you're looking for an escape where you feel like you've been transported to Switzerland, this is your place. The cheese fondue was amazing. Definitely would visit again next time we're in Vail!
Swiss Chalet and Vail were just what the doctor ordered! Vail was bustling, the weather was perfect and Swiss Chalet was a calming retreat outside under the aspen. I miss the former Austrian staff which brought authenticity to to the place, but the current staff is amazing, so knowledgeable and efficient! We had the black truffle and champagne fondue. Words cannot express my happiness!
It was so good, that we’re coming back tonight!! Food and service was delicious!
Sonnenalp always exceeds expectations in dining. Delicious breakfast, omelette was perfect and the classic breakfast was cooked perfectly.
Schnitzel was dry and tough. Servers were great. Location is good in the village.
The food was very good but they were definitely understaffed. We arrived 30 minutes early which was a blessing. As the evening progressed and the restaurant got busier, the service went downhill - water and wine was not refilled. This was our first time at the Swiss Chalet so we also had questions about the fondu and raclette after it was served. It was difficult to flag down our server. To top things off, when our bill arrived the wine that the sommelier recommended (which was very good) was not on our bill. When we pointed this out to our server, he blamed the sommelier as opposed to thanking us for bringing this to his attention.
We love this restaurant. Amazing food. Great service. Beautiful location / setting.
Have been here several times over the years. The fondue had such a strong alcohol taste it over powered everything.
My husbands one martini was poorly made with so much vermouth.
Our waiter Jeffrey had a zero personality and was very poor at attending to our table, we had to get up twice to get our own drinks.
Lastly my filet came our MR to rare instead of medium well and we waited forever for it to be recooked.
Horrible experience, fondue way overpriced and staff is no personality, non attentive and food was very unimpressive.
We won’t be back.
Couldn’t take the smell of the fondue. Had to sit outside. We did have excellent service.
Great atmosphere, the decor makes it feel as if you are stepping into a different world, and the food is outstanding.
The ambience, service, food, experience was wonderful we would gladly go there again.
The restaurant has decided to eliminate a good portion of the fondu menu right now. Our favorite hot oil meat and chicken is off for the time being. Very disappointing, considering the restaurant is overpriced in the first place. Taking off raw meat seems pointless.
We are from Switzerland. Missing home, This was lacking. It was pretty inside, but didn't have the warmth of traditional bars or mountain restaurants.
In Switzerland, real cheese fondue is served with either just bread, or if you are making a meal of it, pickles, bread, pearled onions, potatoes, and some other vegetable.. and wine to help digest the cheese. This fondue (for 2) came with bread, and a small plate with a couple large potatoes, and some veg. Definitely not what we expected.
The actual food didn't resemble the beautiful platters shown on the website. The meat "fondue" is just a grill, like fajitas, not oil and broth.. or like the pictures on the website. Disappointing.
Made calls leaving messages and left an inquiry on this site, several days before our reservation, but the restaurant was unresponsive.
They did accomodate us when we arrived an hour early. We mixed up our timezones.
The drinks were good.
I know it's Vail, but this didn't meet expectations and made me a bit sad. Maybe the owners think the real Swiss deal wouldn't work in Vail?
Our evening at the Swiss Chalet just could not have been better. Our server, Patrick was attentive and personable and made the evening even better. We had the cheese and chocolate fondue which was delicious. We left there feeling very satisfied with our evening. We just could not have been more pleased. I know in these times of staffing issues how hard it can be to staff a restaurant with such quality employees, but the Swiss Chalet is doing a wonderful job.
The onion soup was to die for delicious!
The salmon Papadele came with spaghetti? Not a great dish .,
The spatzle app also not great .
Really fantastic restaurant! The food is delicious and the waitress we had was so nice and helpful! Love the whole Swiss theme and decor. You can’t go wrong with the cheese fondue! :)
The Swiss Chalat was a fun experience. It was the first time my husband and I tried fondue. It was a worthwhile experience. The beef was superb.
Server was snarky. Food was boring.
Interesting menu with veal, fondues and more. Attentive service.
Superb. Took great care of our two small children and my 5 year old’s mind was blown by chocolate dessert fondue. Will absolutely come again.
The food was delicious! The experience was superb. We were celebrating a birthday. Highly recommend and we will be back for more delicious fondue and food as soon as we can.
Lovely ambiance, excellent food and friendly staff. What more can you ask for?
We were greeted nicely and shown to our table. The chair that I was to sit on was filled with junk and heavily spoiled. They removed that chair. We sat down at the table which was absolutely crummy and next to my foot on the floor was a bunch of food. We had an early reservation so this had not been cleaned up for a number of hours. Disgusting
Authentic Swiss atmosphere - makes you think you are in Europe.
Service and quality were very good, I would go back.
The food was good but overpriced. I was disappointed that they didn't have the meat fondue as was shown on their website. The menu was paired down. Nice atmosphere, pretty good service. Just ok overall. I was expecting better since it was rated so highly on Trip Advisor.
Russ is a wonderful server. Very attentive, answered all our questions, and added to our dining experience
Warm and friendly service; waitstaff was terrific. Terrific French onion soup; Fondue was very tasty and filling. Pricing is on the high side but fitting for Vail. We will be revisiting the Swiss Chalet during our next trip to Vail.
30 minutes to bring out white wine bottle hot another 20 minutes
To chill it. The wsiters really only take care of the large tables
Just another phony swiss restaurant in the USA.. In Zurich they
Would not last a day
My husband and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary and Mother’s Day at the Swiss Chalet. The service and food were outstanding. Great place to celebrate!!! Definitely worth the money that we paid,
We chose Swiss Chalet as a Mother's Day meetup in Vail as a halfway point between Denver and Grand Junction and we were not disappointed. The quiet time of mud season is a nice change from the hustle-bustle of ski and summer seasons. We were graciously greeted and seated, and our server Milos was very attentive and gregarious despite having many tables to monitor. The salmon pasta was divine, and fondue second to none.
We wished the spaetzel had been available on the lunch menu however we knew that going in. The burgers are deluxe. For desert don't forget authentic apple strudel! I would gladly dine again at Swiss Chalet on a future Vail visit and highly recommend them!
Great Mother's Day Brunch. It was a quiet and intimate location.
We had a lovely time. Ordered salads & fondue for 4 of us. Service was outstanding.
We dined at Swiss Chalet for our wedding night dinner (we eloped). The food, cocktails, and service were outstanding! The cheese fondue was to die for. I highly recommend if you are looking for a great experience.
Had wonderful service and caring people
The cheese fondue was terrible. We should have sent it back right away. We will return to the restaurant but will be more proactive concerning the food. We commonly come to the restaurant and were surprised by the quality of the food. A gentleman behind us also complained about his food. Maybe a new chef or a product of COVID service?
Love the place, the Raclette is to die for and Fondue also amazing, the onion soup, what a treat. We stay at the Sonnenalp and we went to this restaurant 3 times during our week.
Love it and will for sure go again!
Great customer service, food and ambiance!!
