The food was a little salty (potato soup). I had the Garden wrap, which wasn't very flavorful, especially the leftover half that I brought home without the dressing. Some avocado spread, lemon and fresh herbs (or Penzey's Mural of Flavor mix) might improve the overall flavor. This meal didn't quite hit the mark for me. Recently, I've had brunch at Swing, and the spinach, dried tomato, herbed cream cheese omelet was VERY good. I had that omelet both times that I went there for brunch in the last month.
We have been to Swig a few times before. We especially enjoyed their small plate menu. We were originally disappointed when we learned they had abandoned the small plate format for a more regular menu option. However, we quickly saw a few of our small plate favorites now offered as appetizers. We went that route and enjoyed our favorites. Did we pay a bit more or receive smaller portions - yes. But the food was great and paired with a nice glass of Pinot Noir we enjoyed our meal.
Everything was good but the service
Great new menu.... food is very good. A few tweaks still needed. But looking forward to the summer.
We had a lovely evening. It was a little louder than usual... we were seated in the back next to a very large group. All in all it was a nice dinner.
Food, service, and wine were outstanding!!!
Four us came for Easter Brunch. The meals were very tasty. My bananas foster french toast was delicious, as was the caramel apple pancakes. Our friends both had different egg dishes and they were well satisfied. The ambiance and service are always good.
Food was delicious and hot. Brunch foods were great. Rose from Oregon was dry and good.
Disappointing. Swig was out of one of the cheese dishes we ordered, and the substitute was not very flavorful, except for the garlic. The salad lettuces were not very fresh or flavorful. The recommended wine was good. The plates were not split as requested. Our server did keep things moving.
Disappointing. Waiter ignored us, food was cold and a large group of women (table of 30) in a very small restaurant were over served and extremely loud.
One of my favorites in MKE! Never disappoints. Good apps, good selection and good service! Great lighting too :)
Great food great service great atmosphere—really appreciate organic healthy yet delicious choices; appreciate low carb low sugar choices and no processed—thank you!
The service, wine, and food were excellent.
There were only 2 tables occupied. The salmon dish is served well-done so order appropriately.
Went for brunch. 25.00 bottomless Mimosas + a Brunch Entree. Service was great, our waiter was very attentive - especially with the bottomless mimosas. Not too noisy so we were able to enjoy a good conversation. Atmosphere and ambiance were spot on. Would definitely come back and most certainly recommend!
Overall we had a good experience at Swig. The food was good, not impressive but it was good. The thing that made it really great was the Bottomless Mimosas, that as long as you're eating they re-fill it. Then they stopped (so this is why we're not giving it a 5 star). But it's got the potential, maybe our server should have said that from the beginning-- overall if we're in Milwaukee we'll come back.
Great food, excellent service and cool vibe. Great plates for sharing and nice choice of cocktails.
We went on Saturday around 8:15p. While the food was excellent, the service was horrible. Our poor waitress was very kind but clearly overwhelmed. We saw her twice over the course of two hours and one of those times was to complain that it was taking over a half hour to get our salmon caesar salad. The restaurant made that right by removing the salad from the bill and giving us a 25% discount, but the experience was very poor.
The host at the front was very rude, we came early and when we asked if our table was ready he just threw his hands in the air and went, "No, not yet okay?" We waited 25 minutes past our original reservation and when I flagged him again he adopted a very exasperated tone and said something to the effect of, "Okay, listen, we are really busy but I'll go check to see if anything is available."
This place has a definite morale problem, I just wish the service was as good as the food.
Showed up for our reservation and was seated almost immediately. Comfortable environment, mood lighting away from the bar. We ordered off their small plate menu and all the dishes were great. Highly recommend the Gorgonzola goat cheese. Would definitely come back to try their entrees.
Swig was great for drinks, food, and most importantly their service. Our waiter Tom was awesome and had a great sense of humor. This place was perfect for our girls day out and I plan on visiting Swig again in the future.
Great casual chic vibe. Calvin our server was awesome.
This was our second trip to Swig within a 3 week time period. It is a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The appetizers and the small plates offer a great variety of foods without having to spend a lot on one main entre and limiting your variety. Eric was our server and did a great job...attentive but not hovering!
The crab cakes were the best we have had. We will be back.
Another great experience at Swig. Food was wonderful and well presented. Our server, Calvin, was excellent - very attentive and always smiling . Looking forward to our next visit!
We had a few friends in town and picked Swig for it's excellent 3rd ward location, but really hadn't been there in a long time after they dropped some of our favorite dishes (seared ahi tuna and beef skewers small plates). We were happy that we tried them again. The food and the service (Calvin) was excellent! We shared 6-7 small plates (crab cakes, short ribs, snap peas to name a few), all of which were excellent as was the salted caramel dessert. We'll be back.
We were sat in the very back of the restaurant where the lighting was very poor and right next to the restrooms, the first thing we noticed was how uncomfortably warm it was and continued to fan ourselves with our menus while our waiting to be greeted by our server. It took over 10 mins for us to be greeted by Kalvin (who told us it’s spelt with a K) and when he took our drink order I was the only one who ordered wine and it took almost another 10 mins to get the pinot noir that I ordered and a few more minutes after that before he took our initial food order. We ordered 3 small plates to share as an appetizer and those took a very long time to arrive. My entree arrived to the table about 4-5 mins after my friends entrees arrived and I also ordered a second glass of wine, this time a rosé to enjoy with my salmon entree. Unfortunately the server didn’t deliver that until I was 2 bites away from finishing my entree.
Food was very good!! A++ actually!
Kalvin however just seemed distracted and too rushed. Timing and execution we’re very poor in my opinion. Despite not delivering food/drinks timely, Kalvin was very charismatic and always smiling when at the table.
My biggest complaint was how uncomfortable it was to be seated at the back of the restaurant with poor overhead lighting and it being so warm that sweat beaded on my forehead while I was trying to enjoy the visit.
This is my second time visiting Swig and I’m 50/50 on whether I’d come back.
This was a birthday dinner. We were promptly seated and tended to throughout our meal. At the end of our meal we were offered complimentary champagne for my birthday, was a great surprise!
My Girlfriend and I came for her Birthday. Neither of us had been before but it came highly recommended by friends, and we absolutely loved it. It was a prefect romantic evening. The ambience was on point. The food was delicious and our waitress was very attentive and helpful. We will definitely be back.
Swig is our favorite restaurant in Milwaukee. While we really enjoy many others, Swig has nailed 5/5 on service, ambiance, and most importantly, the food . . . on every single visit. Their signature small plates, salads and entrees with seafood really set them apart.
On the outside it looks to be a very nice place for a dinner date. When it came down to the food, it ended up being pretty meh. Nothing spectacular about the food, definitely a disconnect between the preimum pricing and the quality of the the food on the table. Of the 4 small plates we ordered only one was really rave worthy. The others were intended to be twists on the standard small plate fare you find, but the execution of each fell short. No distinct curry flavor in the chicken curry won ton, the smoked salmon stack was marginal at best. The brie was ok, but ok is the best you can call it.
We love stopping at Swig for a bite to eat and a drink before a show at the Riverside or Pabst. Parking is seldom an issue.
It was very easy to make a reservation. We were seated promptly. The Service was wonderful. The food was very good. We enjoyed ourselves.
Swig does not dissapoint: great food and cocktail, nice ambience and location, solid service!
Delicious salads, excellent coffee, solid service, desserts to die for. But...I’d like at least one smaller dessert option: two sugar cookies w one scoop of lemon or lime or raspberry sorbet. This would balance the entree and allow the diner a bit of sweet without feeling overfed.
We were fortunate to have SWIg recommended by the concierge at the Pfister. Swig is easy distance from major hotels downtown. Our waiter was new to Swig but experienced and very helpful. Glad we found Swig.
Chicken curry wontons were amazing! Good drinks too.
Great place, food and service. We were there for apps, and they were delicious. Berry bruschetta and black bean burger app.
Food was good. Great romantic ambiance. Waitress did nice job. No bread with the pasta? Meals plenty but for the price I would expect a side or salad.
Great small plate offerings. A front table overlooking the sidewalk below was great for people watching. Service(by Kim) was courteous and well-paced, allowing us to easily make the theater.
Took my grandma here for her birthday. We both LOVED the scones. I loved the bean cakes so much we ordered them twice. Delish!
