On the website, Sway shows it's regular menu when in fact the menu is condensed. I wanted Catfish but it wasn't available. Drinks were weak at first but that was corrected. Overall my friends and I enjoyed ourselves. Glad to be out.
We had an 8:00 reservation but the hostess could not guarantee we would be seated prior to the kitchen closing at 9:30. What? She pointed to the two parties who were in line at the hostess desk just ahead of us when we checked in whose names she took AND who did not have reservations. She would not tell us why they were being given precedence over our reservation. She simply refused to answer what is a reasonable question. So, it appears that a reservation is meaningless at this restaurant. We chose not to eat here.
I’ve grown up in the south and love southern style cooking. So, when I see a restaurant with a theme of southern cuisine, I’m always skeptical because I’m usually disappointed. However, Sway has nailed it and they are truly southern cuisine. I had the fried chicken with collards and mashed potatoes with gravy. The chicken was perfectly prepared having crunchy bites on the outside and mouth watering flavor inside. The mashed potatoes were perfectly flavored and creamy. The gravy was a plus because the potatoes are perfect without. The collards are something I’m very particular about. I’ve had them prepared in many different ways and Sway hasn’t done anything radical in terms of preparation. But, they have done something in terms of flavor that I’ve never had before and I want more. I’m not sure what they have done but I tasted the perfect amount sweet and small bite of heat. Don’t let the heat scare you away because it’s barely noticeable for those they may fear spicy food. So if you want true southern style chicken, collards, and mashed potatoes you will love Sway.
My wife brought me to KY for the Bourbon Trail. We spend a night in Louisville, and are at Sway. The deviled eggs brought us in the door and oh my we’re we glad. I had the Wagyu steak and she had the Shrimp and Grits. Maybe it was the 10 yr PVW or the 12 yr WL Weller, or maybe it was the great food and great service, but we had a wonderful meal, and the value exceeded the price. We recommend it and look forward to coming back again. Oh, the deviled eggs are wonderful!
We are from Lexington, had not eaten here in awhile and were glad to see that your shrimp and grits were still on the menu. They are the best we have eaten anywhere! We were disappointed that the dining room wasn't open but understand since it was the day after Valentines. We had hoped for a white tablecloth experience since were in town for a concert, had dressed up and this was our Valentine's celebration. That said, we wouldn't have given up the delicious meal for any other place. We will be back!
Disappointed with Sway. It feels very much like a hotel restaurant with minimal cozy or romantic ambiance for a date night on the town. I heard rave reviews about the fired chicken, which was very good. However the other entrees were nothing to rave about and hardly enough justification to ever drive me to book again at this establishment.
Valentine’s Day date, I think that the experience would be better during a regular Friday night without the expo crowds etc.
Food was good and the waitress was very nice
Christmas Day 2019 Afternoon Dinner for Two
This has been the first time in quite awhile that I was home for the holidays and I started searching in October for restaurants which were serving Christmas Day and came upon Sway so I made reservations for 3:00 December 25th for two. First of all, we were the only guests dining from 3:00 till 4:00; however, they had been busy up until then. There was the bartender doing the bar, serving and placing orders so for us it worked very well. We shared an order for Fried Green Tomatoes which were excellent! Followed by a Summer Berry Salad and a KY Salad. Shrimp N' Grits for my husband and I had the Veggie Burger and House Made Chips. Everything was delicious. We had no idea what to expect and were very happy with our dining choices.
Our office Christmas party. We had special service and the food is always good.
Enjoyed a quite evening with my sister. Had wine and desert after a nice salmon dish!
Great location for a delicious dinner that is moderate in price. Convenient for hotel guests.
Delicious food and wonderful service. Convenient restaurant for Hyatt Regency Hotel guests.
The chicken wings were delicious!
Everything was so nice! Our waiter was perfect he was so nice and funny made us feel comfortable! The food was 10/10 so good it was a calm perfect night out I will be back for sure.so far my favorite restaurant I’ve been to downtown I’ve been to rivue Jeff Ruby’s and spaghetti factory and a few others but they never made me want to go back like this place did.
We picked Sway because (1) it was in our hotel and (2) it was a dark, rainy night.
Our waiter told us the restaurant was famous for it's fried chicken. It seemed a bit of a brag, but I decided to try it. It was the real deal. I subsequently heard from someone else that when they asked where to get really good fried chicken in downtown Louisville they were pointed at Sway. A ho-hum hotel restaurant with a highly regarded signature dish. Go figure.
My wife had the salmon and was pleased with it. Since she orders salmon almost everywhere we go, a thumbs up from her is noteworthy.
In fairness to Sway, I have rarely been in a downtown hotel on a Sunday evening that was playing it's A-game. Sway was no exception. We had to eat on a high-top in the bar area. The hostess was bored and indifferent to seating us. The service was a bit slow. The inevitable football games were on the big-screen TV's. Since we had been traveling all day, we really did not care, and as previously mentioned our entrees were good, but I would avoid Sway on a Sunday evening if you are looking for a quiet dinner in a pleasant atmosphere.
Very slow service. Mediocre food.
Sway has some great Southern food, especially the cornbread, biscuits, fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy. We sat outside on the patio, which was great on an early Sunday evening except for the occasional homeless person drifting by (which the hotel cannot prevent). The server was friendly and excellent with her timing. The food was hot when served. I will be going there again to try their pork chop but will probably sit inside.
The cornbread, biscuits, fried green tomatoes, and the chicken was AMAZING. The only think I didn’t care for was the remoulade but the cooking was incredible. We’re told everyone we know about the good food.
Very nice view clean and neat but the food was not very good for the price
Greeted by server & seated as soon as we entered restaurant. Presented with 4 small sweet cornbread muffins with piece of fruit inside, 2 biscuits & whipped butter to snack on while perusing menu. Food was good, pan seared salmon was salty, Southern fried chicken fingers were good, shoe-string potato fries & sweet potato fries were also good. Large selection of bourbon & wines rounded out the menu.
Food was just ok. The service and outdoor seating was the best part of dinner for us.
Other than their salads, which could use a bit of work, the food was top-notch and the service, though the tiniest bit slow (they seemed understaffed that night), was friendly and warm. The only complaint I have is that the ambience is still very much that of a hotel restaurant in that it’s just tables and a bar in an open corner of the lobby. Also, if it’s a weekday, I would recommend street parking instead of the garage. The garage isn’t expensive, but the street is free after 6p and they don’t validate. But we’ll definitely be going back!
Lovely Mother’s Day buffet.
Went for brunch. Breakfast food only. Omelet station was excellent. Had to make your own waffle
This place is a hidden gem located inside the Hyatt. I had the fried chicken with greens and mash potatoes and it took me back to a memory of my grandma's. It was outstanding, complements to the chef there. My husband had the sea bass and he said it was the best fish sandwich he ever had and that says a lot because we are foodies who travel around the country trying the best restaurants. Sway is in our top 10. Thanks for a wonderful and memorable meal.
Limited menu in comparison to what is online. Food came out late. Our waitress was lovely. I will not go back.
Great menu options, including specialty drinks, and everything was delicious. We had a vegan in our group, and the rest of us voted hers the best meal, which does not happen very often! The noise level was low, so made it very easy to catch up with each other. Our waiter even offered us umbrellas at the end of our meal, as it was pouring outside when we were getting ready to leave.
Got to take my daughter to one of my favorite restaurants in Louisville. It was so fun and the fun was as yummy as always!
Awesome food....great ambiance and service....maybe the best friend chicken I've ever had!
We made a reservation and stood at the entrance for a while before a waiter said it’s just open seating on the side by the noisy bar. Then the food (fried chicken) was over cooked almost burnt. We noted in our reservation that it was Our Anniversary so we would’ve like a quieter area.
Not at all what we expected. Biggest complaint is the food.
Did not have a good time. The dish I ordered really was awful.
Awesome food, the biscuits, and cornbread
we're really dreamy.
Service was excellent. Nice atmosphere. Food was different but very good.
the food was very good and there was plenty of it. The service was great and took good care of us even though our reservation, which had been confirmed electronically, wasn't in the system. The noise level was a bit loud.
We went for a lunch business meeting. We did not want to order immediately but the server became more and more insistent that we order immediately. We arrived at 12 and they do close at 2 after lunch but it seems they want everyone finished and gone by 1:30. After we got our food our server was pretty much finished with us and did not fill our empty water glasses. We asked another server and she brought us more water. The employees were all busy cleaning up the dining room and did not want to be bothered with guests who had apparently overstayed our welcome even though we left well before 2:00.
Edit - I went back for a business lunch and it was a lovely lunch and a great experience. Thanks!
Thank you for your feedback. I am very disappointed and embarrassed with the service you received from our staff. These are not the standards of service we pride ourselves on and I am sorry this was your experience dining with us. I would love to speak with you further and invite you back to rectify the situation. Please reach out to me at your earliest convenience. Lauren - Assistant F&B Manager 502-217-6028
It took a very long time to get our order.
Great southern cooking!
Dining room wasn’t open, and so we were stuck in open seating in the bar...wish we would’ve known ahead of time.
