Sway - Hyatt Regency Atlanta Ratings and Reviews
Sway's fried chicken far surpassed the well-known, but very disappointing restaurant within walking distance known for their Southern cooking (PP's). Delightful crunch, not greasy, nice delicate flavor, accompanied by mashed potatoes and gravy, all served in cast-iron Staub. Black pepper tagliatelle w/mushrooms, squash, and arugula was flavorful, also. We'd definitely return. Iris was welcoming with her southern charm, recommending entrees.
I had a reservation at 6:00. When I got there it wasn't too crowded. I really liked the warm casual feeling of the restaurant. Even though it was situated on the side of the hotel lobby it was still very nice and not too noisy. We started with the sampler appetizer. It was a nice start to dinner just enough for two people. I order the chicken and my date order the shrimp and grits. The chicken was very good, and my date enjoyed the shrimp and grits. The dessert bar is excellent, and you must try the honey bee ice cream. Though not enough to keep me from coming back, I think that the wait staff could be more attentive. We were there for at least an hour, but not one time was I offered a refill on my beverage. I wasn't even offered coffee. Maybe they were short staffed that night, but little details like this makes a big difference to me.
While the server was friendly she was slower than molasses. Twenty minutes to get 2 mixed drinks and two iced teas that we asked for three times. We finally got bread that she was going to be right back with after we asked the manager for it 40 minutes later. After over an hour we got our entrees, one of which was ch okey instead of salmon. When they finally brought the salmon it wasn’t prepared good. The manager made no excuses or apologies but did provide free dessert. At least we had a good time together.
Our party of four indulged in Sway's buffet during one of the three biggest events in downtown Atlanta, DragonCon. The food was quite good with a decent variety of items from which to choose. The value is there and still offers a great people/costume watching experience from almost any table in the restaurant. We will continue to dine at Sway each time we are in the area. PS. Don't forget the dessert.
We were staying at the hotel and had dinner our last night there at Sway. WOW, is all I can say. Yes, the prices are kinda high, but it is worth it. The food was excellent. We had appetizers, a salad, carolina crab dip, and the buttermilk fried shrimp and okra. The shrimp was excellent, four large shrimp and 3 pieces of okra (I have to say I am not an okra fan), my son loved the crap dip. Entrees, the rib eye, buttermilk fried chicken and the St. Louis bbq ribs. The rib eye melted in your mouth, it was one of the best steaks I have ever had in a restaurant (this wasn't even my entree, I just had bite). The fried chicken (with mashed potatoes) was the best Fried chicken I had in Atlanta. And I had tried Mary Macs (it was good, but not great) and Gus's. My son liked the ribs too. I passed on dessert, but my son and husband enjoyed it. FYI, the dessert is all you can eat..but we were too full at that point!! I would definitely go to Sway again if I was in Atlanta.
I was holding a lunch here for a conference group, and even though something went wrong with the reservation, the staff were very accommodating. It was a great location for a big group. Most of us had the lunch buffet, which was convenient and included some great dessert options as well. We also had fantastic service.
We went to Sway to celebrate the end of our business trip. The fried chicken was fabulous. We were disappointed with the Shrimp and Grits. It was too liquid. We think of shrimp and grits as being grits topped with peppers, onions and shrimp plus other seasonings. This was almost like a soup but not as liquid. We were both too full for the pie bar but we did take a piece to go. It was good, nothing outstanding. Didn't think the pie bar lived up to the hype we had read/heard about.
I have had better fried chicken from Kroger or Popeyes. Menu is scarce for southern cuisine in the south. Expected more!!!!!!! Was not my first choice 'sun dial' had no openings. The buffet looked horrible! I guess that's why there were so many empty seats.
Great restaurant. I had the fried chicken, which was AMAZING! Chicken pieces were a little small, but you do get a whole half of chicken. It came with one side, was missing a fresh green salad. Date had the lobster mac and cheese and said it was amazing. HUGE portion, easily enough for 2 meals. Great experience.
Upon arriving, the hostess did not have my Open Table reservation in her system but seated us anyway. She was very nice and did come to the table and apologize for the inconvenience and said there was a glitch in her system. I was with my daughter and staying at the Hyatt Regency for a weekend getaway. Our first impression of the restaurant is that it looked like a Cracker Barrel and did not fit in with the rest of the hotel. Our server was was nice but not very attentive and didn't seem interested in trying to get our food to us quickly. She did blame it on the kitchen but we could plainly see that she was the biggest problem. We noticed too that the other servers were getting on to her for being "slack". She did a lot of standing around.
We were there for early lunch and the food was a huge let down. I was told the shrimp and grits were a favorite for diners and can't understand why. It was an oily mess and not appetizing in the least. My daughter had chicken and wasn't impressed with her meal either. Our appetizer came out about five minutes prior to our meal and I had to remove a lot of oil from that as well.
We had reservations to have breakfast there the next morning and quickly cancelled them. Thank goodness the Marriot Marquis is connected to the Regency so we could conveniently eat there. Those restaurants there are much better.
Loved the Regency hotel and our room, Sway on the other hand, not so much.
It seemed like whoever wrote up the restaurant description on this website or the hotel's site had never visited the restaurant. Good food and value, but no atmosphere at all - locatedc right off the hotel lobby and the laminated menu card felt more suitable to an IHOP or Denny's than a restaurant suitable for entertaining a client. Service was friendly and attentive but lacked the sophistication that you're looking for when trying to impress or pamper a client.
Also, I'd originally made reservations for 5 and had to settle for a later time slot since nothing earlier was available. A couple days later changed the reservation to a party of 3, and was prompted to move the reservation to an even later time slot when nothing was available. Imagine my surprise when we found the restaurant almost empty when we arrived. Just weird.
Honestly we chose the restaurant because our other choice was booked. Actually glad they were because the food at Sway was tastier than I thought it would be! W loomed surprise. Our waiter (Randall) was great and made some good recommendations!! If we're in the area again we would definitely choose Sway again!
My time here was good. The food is a bit pricey but I thought what I ordered was worth the price. It was very delicious. I came to Sway to have breakfast with 2 of my club members. I chose to make a reservation but it wasn't needed due to the amount of people there. We were seated quickly.
