Suzette's Creperie Ratings and Reviews
We went for an afternoon tea to celebrate my daughter's Bday with my mother and it was wonderful. The tea was delicious and the scones were also. We loved the crepes. It was a leisurely meal without rushing. I do wish it was more like a classic High Tea with an assortment of mini-desserts in a tiered tray but the dessert options were excellent and it is the best tea option I have found in the suburbs.
Almost walked out! I had high expectations for Christmas tea with my husband at Suzette's. We arrived 10 minutes early and was promptly escorted to a table for two set up for the tea. Unfortunately, we had to wait THIRTY MINUTES for anyone to acknowledge us. The staff appeared to be very disorganized. The table next to us also didn't have a server or anyone take their tea order for about the same amount of time. When they flagged down a server, they were told to wait. If I'm paying $35 per person for some tea, a handful of little appetizers, two small scones, and some little desserts, I expect good service. And the service was severely lacking. Thankfully, once the Christmas tea got into full swing, more staff appeared to pour tea and serve the appetizers. However, after the scone portion was served, the staff appeared to vanish again! A server took our credit card and vanished for about 15 minutes. Our credit card was gone so long that my husband is currently debating whether to cancel the card. The server who took our credit card took about four tables' bills at the same time... then we saw her five minutes later walking around and picking up plates. Where was our credit card during this entire time? When we walked out, we saw her chatting with someone behind the counter. Maybe that's what she was doing??? Still a mystery.
This is the 2nd year my sister and I attended Christmas Tea; we brought along a friend who had never been to Suzette's. We all thoroughly enjoyed how beautiful everything was decorated for the holidays. We also enjoyed the food and tea, although we wish we could have had a few more of some of the "sandwiches" and "scones" offered. The service was excellent. Although it was a bit costly, it was worth it.
Not all of the menu items were available. However, everyone in my party was able to find something off the menu. We were not rushed. We had a leisurely two hour luncheon. We were only asked to lead around 2:00 PM, because our table was reserved for the 2:30 Christmas Tea.
We really enjoyed the whole night with our friends . The atmosphere was lovely ,service attentive and the food excellent. We had a range of meals, from crepes ,duck to sole. Everyone was happy with their choice. They have an excellent French wine list ,that will compliment any entree.
We attended for Christmas tea and were seated near a door and window outside the main room. We could not fully enjoy the decorations and music which was a disappointment. We also felt our service was much less than what people in the main room received. The food was delicious, but we had to keep asking for tea refills and hotter tea. Since we were seated near that back door and window, it was quite chilly. Because we were ignored, I feel it was not worth the cost.
My daughters and I went to Suzette's last year for a Christmas tea and we enjoyed the piano and lovely decorations. We expected the same thing this year. I made the reservations a month in advance. When we arrived we gave our name, and the hostess told the woman seating us to seat us in the chef's kitchen. This is a back room where you can barely hear the music. In fact you are separated from the festivities by a wide party room that has sliding glass doors that in the front, open onto the main room and the back open out to this back room. If we had just been stopping in for lunch, I wouldn't have cared, but we paid for a "Christmas Tea." After we were seated, I went back up to the front to ask why, when I had made my reservations so early, were we relegated to the back of the restaurant. The hostess, very condescendingly, told me that they have large groups and sometimes guests are seated in the Chef's kitchen. I went back to our table and my daughter's agreed that we would make the best of it. We ordered tea from a very young man who seemed extremely unsure of himself. I ordered Suzette's spiced tea and it tasted like warm water. There was no spice...not even the taste of tea. My daughter's had the tea de jour and it tasted the same..tasteless. We agreed that the tea leaves had to have been used again and again. As we sat waiting for our first course, some ladies were seated in the wide, narrow room behind us. They proceeded to close the glass doors, completely shutting out the faint music we were able to hear. My daughter opened the doors and was told that their party had a guest who was hard of hearing and needed to close the doors. We paid the same as everyone else enjoying the piano and the tree, so we decided to leave. As we made our way to the front to exit we tried to weave our way through the main room. It was shoulder to shoulder, with no room between tables to walk. A fire hazard for sure! Needless to say, we will not be back.
I ordered the nicoise salad. It looked tired. Eggs has a dry discolored look and potatoes were a bit sour tasting. The tuna tasted like canned. I muscled thru it because we were celebrating Christmas and I did not want to rock the boat. It was very disappointing, especially for Suzette's, which is usually so good. My friends said their dishes were good. Service was fine.
The music was way too loud for the size of the room. She was playing at normal volume and the louder she played the louder the talk became. In a setting like this it should be “background” music not a concert performance.
My sister and I love the Christmas Tea - 4th year attending - but she remarked to me that it seemed exceptional loud this time.
Tea is great. Food very good. Servers are very pleasant.
This was our group's third year meeting at Suzette's for our holiday celebration. Unfortunately we will not return again.
Our meals were delightful as ever, but the end of the evening killed any chance of our return and erased all of the satisfaction we'd experienced to that moment.
It does not seem reasonable in 2017 to refuse to split the check to accommodate multiple credit cards. It does not seem ethical to conceal this point until the moment of payment (we asked early on for separate checks making it obvious that one person would not be treating the entire group). Further, last year we asked for separate checks without any problem.
We were running way late for a scheduled Christmas tea. I called and was concerned that we would not be seated or miss part of the event. Everyone could not have been nicer or more gracious, after our rude behavior. The tea was lovely, the food delicious and the service top notch.
The Christmas Tea has become a tradition for me. Each year I bring a different special friend. The Christmas decorations are beautiful. The piano music is a delightful accompaniment to a delicious afternoon tea. Staff is always friendly, well-trained and accommodating.
Food was delicious, but service uneven. Here for Christmas tea. First tea served barely warm and hadn't steeped long enough. Mini sandwiches tasty, especially mini cheddar biscuit with ham. Long waits for tea refills and between courses. Scones really good. Dessert served buffet style. Our table went last and previous diners cleared out most of offerings. Desserts were not replenished. Nice to do once, but regular lunch menu better value.
Went for the Christmas Tea. We were seated at a table right in the middle of the main room yet were repeatedly passed by for service. We were the last to get our tea and our first course. The majority of the time, Tea was not steeped long enough and/or was cold. Some servers were fantastic, most were lackluster. Food was delicious and appropriately “fancy.” Decor was beautiful and festive. Carolers were a special touch. Dessert spread was fantastic.
Charming space with excellent food and attentive service. If you are lucky enough to get there when they have lamb shank, do not hesitate but order immediately! The main course crepes are also wonderful, as are the sizeable dessert crepes. Don't miss the bakery goodies--either for dessert or to take home.
It's also wonderful for a leisurely breakfast/brunch--leisurely because many of the dishes are made to order and simply require time (e.g., spinach crepes to die for!)
We dine out often, and every time we come to Suzette's it doesn't disappoint. choose a reasonably priced outstanding burgundy wine that paired well with our meal. The kitchen is putting out classic French food with a twist and some unique original creations. Highly recommended!
I brought my 8 year old daughter for the Christmas Tea. She had a wonderful time. The servers were very attentive. They saw to it we have what we need although the place was a full house. The food presentation is great! But The food were just good and not exemplerary. They offered the first course, sandwiches, multiple times. They had good variety. I was surprised that they only served two pieces of scones, one with regular size and another one in smalle size. The cream is close to butter instead of the clotted cream. Other than that, I would recommend this place to try an afternoon tea for first timer. Though, I would not return any time soon and planning to just try a different afternoon tea.
The service was terrible but our server was trying very hard to keep up. I think they are understaffed and quite frankly, have been for a while. The last few times I've been there, the service has been terrible, the food is not as good as it once was and the place needs some sprucing up. You're not greeted at the door despite someone is there looking at you walk in. This was my 3rd attempt at allowing them to redeem themselves but I think its not going to recapture what they had when they 1st started. Its a shame, but we'll have to go elsewhere for our tea/brunch from now on
