Sutter's Mill Ratings and Reviews
Sutter’s Mill has always been a local gem in Simi Valley. Easy parking and easy to get a reservation. Our last visit was just so so. Our server was wonderful. My Prime Rib was a bit dry and a little tough. The other folks at the table who also ordered prime rib, had the same issue.
I wonder if it’s the same owner or perhaps it was just a bad cut of meat.
Either way, we’ll be back because it’s a great local eatery.
We arrived on time at 11:45. The restaurant was closed . I received an e-mail a few minutes later telling me they would not be open until 4 or 4:30. We were from out of town and had to go searching for another place to have lunch, a big disappointment! I gave a low rating in everything because Opentable would not allow me to post this review without a rating but we were not able to experience the place, it was closed. Opentable should not have confirmed my reservation.
Exceptionally good service and delicious food. The prime rib was superb. Get there early as the prime rib runs out later in the evening. A big plus is their "No corkage fee" policy! Decor is comfortable, old world style like steak houses used to be. We loved the intimate setting. You would never guess that you were in a strip mall once inside. Nice bar area too.
great little restaurant here in Simi to have nice lunch or dinner or just cocktails. Bar with Tv and large area for large parties. Service is always nice and freindly and food good. Been going to Sutters for years, better than driving to Thousand Oaks or Pasadena
Nobody does Maine Lobster better than Sutter's Mill locally!! When you combine that with solid Salad w/house dressing (leaning towards blue cheese strength!), garlic toast and stuffed twice baked potato. You have a meal fit for a King! PLUS...
...my wife and I enjoyed a good bottle of wine WITHOUT CORKAGE FEE!
Bottom line- she had Ground beef, salad, potato. I had lobster, salad, potato and we split garlic toast...$55!!!! We came before 5:30pm and got 15% discount!! $55!!!
As usual, Sutter's Mill did not disappoint. We went with something different than our usual steak, scallops, lobster tail, soups and salads.
Started with the shrimp cocktail = Stellar!
Split the Halibut with some crab legs on the side...it was so delicious and plentiful. Even though I always split with my wife, we can never finish our meals due to the healthy sized portions here!
Best part, we are always greeted with open arms and a smile as soon as we ate foot through the door. The fantastic service, positive atmosphere and warm ambiance keeps us coming back...and oh yes, the food is ALWAYS to die for.
Thanks for being you Sutters!!
The food was mediocre. The "filet" did not look or feel like a filet, the asparagus was dried out and had no sauce, the scallops were rubbery, and the clam chowder was just okay. Really wanted to like this place because the decor is great, but the food just isn't worth the prices charged.
We've enjoyed Sutter's Mill many times...going back to the old site in Mission Hills. Always found it a comfortable and pleasant place to dine. Not outstanding, but very good and reliable. Food is good, well prepared and presented. Pity that the nice booths are too close to a rather noisy bar. They could be screened off with a Lucite partition.
Sat in the back room this time - not as good as the first time we were there. While the food was still good, they brought the main course while we were still eating our salads. The booth material is very old and worn, coming away in pieces. A little noisy in the back room as well - much better in the quiet booths in front. For the cost of the food, I think they could put some money into updating the dining tables etc...
