The hostess was very rude, apparently it was his last day at this restaurant as he was going to work for MTA. Our reservation was at 8pm----we were seated at 830p, which caused our 2hour parking limit to get us charged an extra $30 because we ran past 2hrs!!!! We will not be returning here again, food was overpriced for the quality, service was slow---however i guess no one cared as this restaurant was closing in 2 days. They should have disclosed this on their website BEFORE i made reservations. never again.
Sorry to hear they are closing Sat
Hope they find a new location and reopen and bring back the old dishes
Sushisamba has been our favorite NYC restaurant for years, and while we so sad that the NY location is closing, we're glad we were able to get in one more time for a fantastic dinner. Our server, Tim, was as excellent as everyone who's ever waited on us, the food was as fabulous as ever and our last dinner there was very special. Thanks for lots of great times and amazing food over the years.
We had a great time. The service was attentive and the food was delicious. It is a shame this location will be closing. Glad we caught it. Thanks!
This is a great spot, but I didn't get why we couldn't sit down when 2 out of our party of 3 were there. Instead we had to sat at the bar, though there were scads of tables. The bar is nice, but it's cold and drafty from the front door opening on a cold night. It didn't prevent us having a good time, but it didn't help!
We loved everything that we ordered. Different flavors made it great!
Sushi samba gaat sluiten dus het personeel is niet echt gemotiveerd
Food was great but the service wasn’t !
The place needs upgrading !
We went because we had such a great experience at SushiSamba in Las Vegas. This did not compare. We will not be back.
It was realy delicious. The sushi was the best sushi ever. It was a great last evening in New York.
Served seafood to a vegan. Didn’t seem to understand that thus was a problem. Such a shame as many previous visits were all 5 star!!
I have been to Sushi Samba at its Park Ave location, in Vegas and in the village, and I have loved it every time. The food is fabulous, and the service wonderful. I tell all my friends who go to NYC or Vegas to make sure they go. The only negative is the noise level at both locales. But overall the food makes it all better.
La comida está buena, el local no es muy nuevo que digamos pero lo que me dejó alucinado fue la cuenta... precios desorbitados para la calidad del producto.! Por esos precios se pueden ir a cientos de sitios mejores
Visited 4 December.
The very worst service we have received in a very long time. So fire that we left within 15 minutes. We were not the only customers we met that night with these issues.
It may be the “original” but the sooner this branch closes the better - SS are hugely damaging their brand by keeping this place open a day longer than necessary. Especially with the current manager in place.
La comida estuvo muy rica y el servicio espectacular, aunque el lugar aparentemente va a cerrar, por lo que si se ve un poco desatendido. Nuestra experiencia fue muy buena. Esperamos que abran algún día en Panamá.
One of the best anniversary dinners we’ve had. This is still my favorite restaurant. Tasting menu is the best way to enjoy a little bit of everything. Delicious food and sake!
Always a good time for a date , or with friends. I enjoy this place alot for some reason.
Kind of past its prime Asian fusion kind of place that was hot back in the 90s and still haunting the West Village. Surprisingly very family friendly and some of the best customer service I've ever received in NYC. The menu has something for everyone and on my visit all the fish was fresh, tasty and well prepared. Oldie yet still goodie!
Very disapointing compered to SushiSamba London, 2 different worlds. London is amazing, NY is the opposit.
It was an awful experience! Some of the staff upstairs would not turn the music down. Our waiter went to turn it down, and one of the barmen and the women behind the bar insisted on jacking it up even louder! We were the only customers sitting upstairs! Also, the barman kept giving us dirty looks. So, we just left! We had to find another place to go to.
Not recommended; won’t be going back. Food was average and service was terrible.
Have been to this location several times. The food always looks beautiful and tastes great. Great cocktails. Lots of energy in the place. Just a warning, the little plates really are little, and the portions "from the grill" are also on the smaller side. So just get lots of things.
Decor was beautiful food tasted great I went on a weekday around 3 so I didnt experience those long waiting times often referenced
Meny was confusing and we did not get any explination. Server was nice enough, but took for ever to get to the table. Food was not worth the money in any way. Not going back
Modern execution of unique fusion concept. Refreshing taste in every bite
The sushi rice was really hard, not properly cooked, our waitress paid us no mind and drinks took long to be brought. In addition she forgot a roll and had to put the order in a rush. Listen I’m a chef I hate leaving reviews like this but I know this is a good restaurant and hopefully these review help
love this place!
Was very impressed w this place- had walked by many times. The fried rice w salmon was delicious; the sushi was generous and delicious; the drinks were flavorful and potent.
Staff extremely unfriendly and rude. Had a reservation for 9pm. Waited til 9.50. They didn’t apologize, said we were wrong and had booked for 9.30 (I’m sure opentable can confirm our actual time). Will not be returning.
Showed up 5 minutes early for our reservation, we were requested to step aside and wait. We waited 35 minutes without an update and when we asked the hostess, we were told it would be at least another 30 minutes to wait. I would also note that many other people had the same issue. We notified the hostess that we could not wait over an hour to be seated for our reservation and asked her to cancel it. Would not recommend this to anyone.
We live in the neighborhood and as a family of 6 go to SushiSamba quite a bit. We celebrate birthdays there, stop in after school or when we are passing by, or order something to go. My teenage daughter and 2 of her friends went last night with an 830P reservation and weren't seated until just after 930. Not only that, my daughter tells me the staff was rude to them. This is not surprising, it was a beautiful Saturday night so the restaurant was busy and teenagers can be...annoying and sometimes you don't want to deal with them, but still extremely disappointing. This is one of our neighborhood spots and they know us there and we've seen dozens of staff members come and go but we are consistent customers. I will think twice before going to SushiSamba next time.
Not the SUSHISAMBA you were looking for, if you were at their London or Miami branches. The food and prices are okay, the service was terrible. Had to wait 1 hour after our booked time, no apology or complimentary drinks offered, just rude hostesses.
Great food
Amazing evening apart from extremely bad service with rude and disrespeftufl waitress who showed us the middle finger when we were trying to sort out the bill.
This location does not live up to sushi samba standards. I’ve had better meals at sushi haru at half the price
Out of date, dirty toilet.
We left and went to the neabour Nakazawa which was great.
Started off with arriving and their reservation system "was having some issues" but we were seated with just a minor delay. It was far too noisy inside, so we sat outside.
We ordered the five course tasting menu, I chose a wine, he ordered a beer. They were out of beer. We had our first course before we had water, drinks and chopsticks. Could it go up hill from here? We hoped! There were no water glasses available, they were washing them. Alas, water in clear Solo cups. He ordered sake....20 minutes later, they were also out of that. We literally sat for an hour in between the third and fourth courses with nothing to drink. An hour! Fourth course arrives - yeah! Another wine for me, and sake finally for him. Two bites into the fourth course, here comes the fifth course. I just looked and nodded "no" and they turned around. Finally ready for fifth course, well it's s'mores, on a windy night. I thought my hair was going to catch fire. Barely get our dessert course down, and here's the check. We paid by card, but received no pen. 20 minutes go by, she comes to pick up, yeah, no pen.
So all in all - absolutely horrible service, mediocre food. A five course tasting menu took 3 hours. We laughed it off, made bets that the waitress had actually quit during her shift or was doing dishes, maybe reprogramming the reservation system. We weren't offered any type of discount for any of the foibles, the tab was over $200... we certainly won't be back!!!
This place was disorganized and overall pretty pathetic. The food was well below average and disappointed on every level. Needless to say we will not be returning.
Very different from the subsidiary locations
A stable in the West Village - reliably good fun and great food! I've been coming here for years and will hopefully continue to do so for many more. They do a great job for vegetarians too - as my wife and I are.
