Sushi Yasaka Ratings and Reviews
My boyfriend and I came here after seeing great views, and they all proved to be true. The place was packed on a Monday night. Our reservation was for 8:15 and they seated us right away when we arrived. The sushi was definitely very fresh. We ordered the negi yellowtail roll, the spicy yellowtail roll, eel and avocado, their special spicy salmon roll, and spicy tuna roll. It was an easy, quick, and absolutely delicious meal. One of the better sushi spots I've been to in a while. And you can't beat the price! All that for only $44 (with tax). Highly recommend!
One of the best sushi places we have tried in years. The fish is fresh and the quality of the fish is first rate. If you are willing to trust the sushi chefs, try the Omakasi (chef's choice). It is beautifully presented and uses the freshest fish. For the non-fish eaters, the chicken teriyaki and the steak were very good.
Give this place a try. You will not be disappointed.
We eat both lunch and dinner at Sushi Yasaka and we come at least 2 or 3 times every month, sometimes every week, sometimes twice a week. We have been coming for years, since they first opened because we live in the neighborhood. We enjoy the food - it's also a good value. The service staff is great - they recognize frequent customers and they are hard working and pleasant. The front desk is the restaurant's weak point - they almost never greet you in a friendly way. No one will act like they recognize you - I doubt they would recognize their own family member. You should ignore this and focus on after you get seated. You will enjoy the meal.
Excellently prepared sushi and sashimi, well-priced even for the out of towner. I have to dock one star for the fact that we were seated at a table that was WAY too close to the hostess stand/register. I got bumped three times by a waiter or waitress retrieving water glasses behind the hostess area, and the delivery guy came in and had to explain something to the hostess. Not generally a problem but the dude reeked of cigarette smoke, and as a result of being so close, he was practically in my face as I was trying to eat, not cool. Recommend to management they take the 1 table hit and get rid of that table.
I have been here several times over the years since it opened and the food has always been great with decent service. Dinner can be a bit expensive, but for the lunch specials you can get a very large and filling tray of multiple items for about $12, which in my opinion is a pretty good deal given the high quality and authenticity of the food you are getting. Definitely make a reservation before you go as the place is somewhat small and can get quite crowded.
My dinner companion arrived at 5:15 to await my arrival and called to tell me that there was already a line forming outside the restaurant. We had a 6/pm reservation and by that time the restaurant was full! Once the sushi arrived it was clear as to why there was not a table in the house. Outstanding, fresh and delicious sushi.
