This was our first experience at this restaurant. They offer a great opportunity for your dinning experience. Saki offerings were fantastic. This is a more traditional dinning experience so expect more raw/rare offerings than a more modern sushi restaurant.

First off this place is extremely expensive. Now a little about me, I travel all over the world for work and pleasure so I have experienced all kinds of food and love to new and exciting foods. Not to brag, but I make very good money and do not mind dropping $200-300 on a great meal for two, but this food was not worth it in my opinion. Our check was almost $275.00 for four appetizers, and one big dish for two and four glasses of white wine. The place is in bad part of town, the door is so small it's on the side of CVS drug store, if you blink miss it...and looks extremely dated. The service was good, the crowd was extremely casually dresses like they we getting ready to mow the lawn. There are so many sushi places way better than this place for a lot less. We usually pay around $150.00 for the same amount of sushi & drinks in other sushi places.

Great concept and well executed tasting menu with one of the better Sake pairings I have enjoyed. Not cheap, especially for what is essentially no frills sushi without any particularly expensive cuts, but the variety and quality are worth it for the most part.

Sushi Taro is the best Sushi restaurant in DC. By far. It is on par with restaurants I've been to in Tokyo.

High quality food. You can taste the freshness as well as the care it took the chefs to make each dish. Our wedding anniversary ended on a high note with our experience here.

After high expectations, I was extremely disappointed at Sushi Taro's food quality. My first hint was after receiving the drinking water, I could definitely smell that the glass had not been properly cleaned. We ordered an Omakase Sushi and an Omakase Sashimi. Once the plates hit the table, I could instantly tell something was wrong. They had a strong old-fish odor. The presentation was very good, but the taste was overwhelmingly old fish.

I've eaten sushi at places from Michelin starred restaurants in Tokyo to grocery-store sushi.
There is absolutely no reason this place deserves a Michelin Star. The sushi at Wegman's grocery store is of higher quality and better taste.

I lived in the DC Metro region over 30 years and Sushi Taro was always my favorite Japanese restaurant...I was never disappointed. Now that I have moved from the area, when I come back to DC I always go to Sushi Taro. The latest visit was excellent as usual....very fresh sushi with nice variety and some uncommon options. Large sake selection and Japanese craft beer selections are also nice. I will keep coming back!!

This is a grossly overhyped sushi restaurant. The food is okay. Nothing memorable, good or bad, except for the price. You can get comparable sushi for less without having to endure the drama of getting into a Michelin rated restaurant. The seaweed salad was typical of the salad I've had at places in Bethesda, like Matuba or Take Grill. I chose the Omekase Sushi as my entree. It was a decent mix of fresh fish. The tuna roll was subpar. That was disappointing. If money is not a concern than you can go burn some at Sushi Taro.

My GF and I go to Sushi Taro all the time. We love this place. In My Opinion, the Fatty Tuna sashimi is the best thing on the menu and a must have when you go. they also have great warm and cold small dishes. I would recommend to anyone who like high quality sushi + seafood. Recently reservations are booking up quicker due to them being awarded (a well-deserved) Michelin star.

This was my fourth visit to Sushi Taro in 4 years, and it has been consistently outstanding. The sushi is incredibly fresh, and they're always willing to accommodate my gluten-free restrictions.

Excellent! We went for my mom's birthday and had 10 piece sush with spicy tuna roll, spicy scallop roll, udon and soba. Sushi was superb and udon was the best we have had in a long time. Soba was ok, but the noodle was hand made. I thought it was a bit pricy at first but after the meal I thought it was worth it. They do have good lunch specials at more reasonable prices but a lot more menu selections for dinner. Do make reservations even for lunch since the restaurant was packed and I did see a group get turned away. Overall, it was an excellent meal with good service and would definitly return for more.

We had a special lunch here on Monday to celebrate our wedding which occurred this past weekend. The food was phenomenal and the cost was very reasonable for sushi and sashimi at a Michelin starred restaurant. Amazing dining experience!

Taro is one of the most unique places I've been, and I can day with confidence it's the best sushi restaurant in DC. Our group did the tasting menu (pricey) and 98% of the food served were things I had never had before. If you don't have an open mind and a broad palette, I would stick to the a la carte menu, it's safer and cheaper.

Overall, two thumbs up.

So happy to go to a Michelin starred restaurant and it lived up to the hype. We did the kasekei and the nigiri was insanely good. It was so fun trying all the varieties of fish. Can't wait to go back! We hope to do the Omikaze

Taro was recommended as one of the best sushi places in DC, but was far from that. Haven't discovered a great sushi restaurant yet. Don't know if I had a bad experience that day but in my opinion they served me the worst edamame I have ever eaten, the sushi wasn't fresh, we didn't even like the presentation. We thought the rolls were cut too big, difficult for a women to eat, also the nigiris and sashimis. The soft shell crab wasn't good. Still looking for a good sushi place in DC.

Creative and authentic food but consistently arrogant management and staff. Guests are not greeted as they would be in Japan, but with a hautiness which says "show us you are worthy of dining in our presence." Yes, the food is premium and hard to find in DC. But the attitude gets old. The management should return to Tokyo for a few months to relearn Japanese hospitality.
