Sushi Sasabune Hawaii
We serve our "OMAKASE" 50 people for per day and we closed when we sold out. Please make a call first for availability. Mahalo
By far the best sushi restaurant in all 50 States. Not even close.
The fish is fresh and incredibile.
One of the best japanese restaurants
Amazing as always
One of the best Sushi Omakase I’ve ever had in my life, and value for money. Good combination of imported and local ingredients. Nice chef and kind servers
Wonderful as always
I had always wanted to eat here and finally had an occasion for an excuse to make reservations. I was looking forward all week for this day. We were quickly seated as soon as we entered. I had called earlier to check if we could sit at the counter but our time slot was already filled.
Our drink orders were quickly taken and we ordered the Omakase dinner. We were treated to 14 courses altogether; 2 appetizers, 8 sushi, 1 temaki, 2 hot dishes and miso soup. A lot of the dishes featured local products.
The spacing between plates sometimes was served quickly and at times lagging. Nevertheless the staff was always attentive either bring plates out and explaining the dishes, refilling your water glass or removing the empty plates. The staff all helped each other on the floor.
Overall a nice experience. The only disappointment was we should have sat at the counter for the experience of interacting with the chef.
Outstanding and attentive staff. Knowledgeable and informative presentations of the meal. Quality imported and local ingredients prepared in some imaginative and tasty ways. Quite reasonably priced as well. I'm looking forward to dining there again.
Excellent sushi. Excellent service. Sasabune is hard to beat.
Always the best. Thanks!
The guys at Sasabune know what they're doing. We had an amazing omokase experience for half the price of the other restaurants in town. Thanks for making it a great birthday for my gf.
Everything was perfect down to engagement with the chef owner. He grows all of the fruit/produce in his own garden and the fish was unbelievable. Truly a great experience and hyper local. Not to be missed and not all that expensive comparatively to a super high end restaurant (for two with sake we left stuffed and it was $350.
Outstanding and very innovative sushi.
Definitely do omakase style... the sushi chef is a master!
Let's just say that the part of town it's in isn't quite as picturesque as some other spots on Oahu... but walking into Sushi Sasabune is a true experience - Prepare to be transported! The Ambiance at the opening (5:30pm) was quiet, but in a refined and dignified way, the perfect setting within which to really focus on our meal. We sat at the sushi bar, and every single item that came across it was wonderful. These guys nailed the classic standbys, updates some with delightful twists, surprised us with some unique flavors and consistently knocked our socks off with the incredible freshness and quality of the chef's selections. The food would have been enough on it's own for the 5 stars, but the service brought it to the next level. The staff succeeded with the mystical balance of being completely scarce while we ate while also being constantly available - not a single empty plate sat in front of either of us more than a few seconds. This is all really saying something, as we have made a habit of trying some of the more exceptional restaurants in our hometown, NYC. If we make it back to Oahu, a return visit to Sushi Sasabune will be a must!
Since 2000 I have had many many meals at the sushi bar - mostly excellent to superb.
Chef Seiji's move to serve more local, premium fish for his nigiri and topped with his
innovative and tasty "garnish" is wonderful. His sake prices are a deal - have not gone
up in Five years! Very Highly recommended!
One of the best meals I’ve ever had-omakase
The absolute best sushi experience we’ve had - and it’s our favorite food and we have frequently gone to high end sushi restaurants.
Very good experience. I enjoyed the breadth and variety of the dishes, better than most and the food has improved over the past few years. Reasonable price point given the two dozen or so dishes.
I really enjoyed the experience. I went for my birthday dinner. The Omakase Japanese style was definitely worth the price of admission. Everything was delicious and seemingly unique from what I've had before, especially one piece that stood out, due to its amazing smoky flavor. The staff was professional and kind as well. Looking forward to returning next time I am in Honolulu.
Simply one of the finest, most delicious Omakase experiences of my life. Expensive. Worth every cent. One amazing bite after another. Do yourself a favor TRUST THEM!
After 14 years of eating here this is still my favorite place and I am always amazed. Even after traveling all throughout Japan I still love to come home and eat at Sasabune.
My 3rd or 4th visit there, consistent over a 10-12 year period! Just tell the boss “omakase” and let the magic begin. Not inexpensive but worth every penny. “trust me”.
Amazing showcase of local and Japanese fishes. Worth the omakase price and would definitely return if we are back in Hawaii. (Traveller from Australia). We also sat at the bar in front of sushi chef where all the action happens! Highly recommend that!
First omakase experience for my wife. Thank you for the amazing food and top notch service!
There is a sense of excellent craftsmanship here at the restaurant. How they treat each product and present it with timing and excellence. The chefs truly try to bring the customer the full expression of each fish or dish presented and served. My only wish was that the pace of service was a little more relaxed, I felt rushed to eat each dish and they were served back to back to quickly. I thank them for the craft and dedication.
Bday fun!! Service, food, and company were amazing as always!! Highly recommended for the foodies who want to be blown away!
Sasabune Styleの味とOmakase menueのRootsがLAにあることを初めて知りました。HonoluluでけでなくNYCやLAでも地元の素材と季節の味を試してみたいです。
It was truly amazing. The best omikase my husband and I have ever experienced.
Sitting on the sushi counter was a wrong choice. It was a pre-fixed arrangement and no choice.
I did not see that in the OpenTable menu.
Love Sasabune. Has been my favorite sushi place for over 15 years!! Every dish served deserves a standing ovation.
2名 1ドリンクずつ 250ドルくらいでした！
It tastes horrible with a super expensive price! The wasabi is not fresh, the rice for the sushi is warm! It doesn’t even taste like sushi rice! Every sushi they serve, the taste of the rice, fish and souce are spreate instead of whole. We want to cry after looking at the $300++ bill for two of us and feel suffering eating each course because they don’t even let us order ourselves! And we cannot even go on with any dessert because it is really really too horrible!!!!!!!
Amazing as always!
I wouldn't say there's much of an "ambiance" but this is a definite must go when in Hawaii. I loved every piece from the chef's selection. Everything was fresh, delicious, and creative. Quality, taste and overall cost makes it a GREAT omakase value. I mean especially if you're comparing it to NYC.
Absolutely fantastic Omakase - only, sushi only restaurant. Each piece was fresh and came with its own sauce to accentuate the flavor of the fish (no soy sauce). Their motto is “One piece, one bite.” Could eat there every day!!
Definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants in Hawaii. I highly recommend this place and I will definitely come back again.
This is our favorite place to enjoy the "chef's table" in all of Hawaii! The chef's table experience, quality of the sushi/sashimi are well worth the price! What we did notice during this dine, that we have not in the past, is the servers provide the details of some of the courses rather than only the sushi chef. It does change the dynamic of the experience. We prefer the chance to interact with the sushi chef and have the chef provide the details on what is being served, how it is best enjoyed, etc....that part of the experience was missing this time and would suggest that it is a small detail that we had enjoyed in the past that made the dining experience that much more special.
This was our 2nd time dining at Sushi Sasabune and it was as good if not better than our 1st experience.
I have been here twice for Chef’s Choice at the bar. One of the best experiences I have ever had including Japan- the unique pairings and flavors are amazing - the chefs opened the restaurant 20 years ago and take great pride. I will go here for a special evening every time I am in Oahu. Simply one of the best meals I have had anywhere in the world.
Best sushi in Oahu, been going here for years and will continue to.
