The sushi and specialty rolls were good, but atmosphere was extremely noisy and the service was horrific. The food took over an hour, the staff only came by every 20 minutes or so and had to be repeatedly asked for ice water, which contained no ice when the did manage to refill the cup.
Seemed like they had a lot of new people working, but they more than adequately addressed some of the issues they were having with the speed of food being prepared. Overall great restaurant and great experience.
Really solid place - It's not a high-end type sushi foodie place but the food is top notch. Beautifully presented. Hip vibe there with bar. Great place for sushi and drinks for weekday date or after work meet up.
Fantastic lunch spot with great lunch bento boxes!
Would 100% recommend Sushi Rock to a friend. I’ve been coming here for years because I live in the building. I brought new friends there on Thursday night, it was a bit loud, but it was 7 pm when we arrived and I personally thought it was fine, it’s a part of the ambiance (rock). The special rolls are amazing, the staff is awesome, and their lunch specials are so worth it. Stop by for happy hour and it will not disappoint!
This is a good place for a date or sushi with some friends. The specialty rolls, although pricy were delicious and a nice serving size for sushi.
A little pricey, but great quality.
Went on date to Sushi Rock on Tuesday night. Server asked if we wanted drinks but we weren’t drinking so we said no. He conveyed clear dissatisfaction that we weren’t drinking and he nevertheless told us about their drink specials and we had to say no a second time.
The edamame was good. Miso soup good, but quite salty. I got the veggie udon soup and the veggies weren’t cooked and the soup itself was flavorless, so wasn’t pumped about that. My girlfriend’s sushi was fine.
At the end of meal, server brings an iPad to your table to pay and waits until you give him his tip.
Overall, food was mediocre and felt like I was being upsold at multiple points during the meal (down to tip I left, with server hovering over shoulder).
Amazing sushi and very friendly service. Plus EASY parking!!
Great restaurant. Love the rock decor.
Sushi Rock is a fun location, nice decor, interesting building. My veg ramen soup was nothing special. Next time I'll order sushi. My friend's sushi tower looked much more interesting.
I like sushi rock. It just didn’t blow me away. It’s a cute date spot though.
Awesome place with great food! We were visiting from out of town and decided to give it a try, would highly recommend!
Good sushi and service. We will be back!
Best sushi in Arlington. Bit pricey but excellent sushi rolls. haven't ever had a bad meal there. it is nosiy, especially on a weekend night --even with a 6:30 p.m. rez.
Absolutely the best sushi restaurant in the DC area. Can't miss.
Took my daughter for a fancy dinner to celebrate New Year’s Eve “Eve”. Everything was great, the food came out quickly and was delicious, and since it was Sunday their specialty cocktails were $5 off, making my premium cocktail only $7 which was a nice surprise! This may be me and my daughter’s new “special occasion” place. The method of payment felt a little strange because it’s on the waitresses tablet instead of being paper that gets left on the table. I get that it saves trees but it felt strange, maybe I’m old fashion.
Worst sushi spot I've been to DC. MY husband and I sat at the bar and the bartender attitude was very dry like she didn't want to be working. Another couple comes in that's of her race and she greeted them so pleasant and even suggested the happy hour menu in which she didn't even tell us about that. Sushi was ok I've had better! Was very upset I wasted my money on that place never again. She was lucky to even still get a tip from us
Sushi and service was fantastic, as always. One of our favorite spots. The November Rain sushi roll had been taken off the menu, but they made 2 for us anyway. So good!!!
Management needs to pay more attention to cleanleness!!!
Excellent sushi lunch - very good value lunch menu when we went. Beautiful sitting outside in the lovely sunshine. Unfortunately - I don't think Sushi Rock has credited my opentable points yet.
Very disappointed sushi rock changed their menu. Why change something if there is nothing wrong? My favorite roll, tiger roll, is no longer on the menu. Sushi rock is my favorite restaurant in the Arlington area, but honestly upon taking away my favorite roll, I likely won't be back anytime soon.
Was my wife's birthday and we wanted to try something different, it was definitely worth the visit.
Great Food. But lastnight I went and had their Daily Tuesday special of $20 off bottles of wine listed on the Menu. No note of a time, and have been told before that they're all day. After the meal i was charged full bottle price and they stated it's not after 9PM. But doesn't state that anywhere. I typically don't pay $65 for an $10 bottle. Not very happy sushi rock.
Update: Sushi Rock provided me a $20 coupon, but doesn't account for the 25% tip and tax on the wine bottle where the special was not honored.
Great sushi at a reasonable price.
Things that drove me crazy -- with tax & tip for two adults we spent $100 and only alcohol was one glass of wine yet my appetizer got lost, entree forgotten, and some of my fish was extra fishy smelling
Food wasn't as fresh as usual
Great value and good selection of food and drinks from happy hour menu , the regular ala carte menu also great ! I'm glad a great sushi place available in my neighborhood within walking distance ❤️
Joined a friend from out of town at Sushi Rock based on a recommendation. Was a little unsure at first--Sushi and rock music? Seems like a strange fusion, like an Asian/Guns'n'Roses restaurant?
The setting turned out to be fun, and the food was great. We ordered rolls and sashimi, and though I'm no expert in Sushi, it was fun and enjoyable to try their rolls.
The downside of the meal was the service. We saw our waitress three times all night; to take our drink order, to take our food order, and to swipe our credit cards. I spent half the time in the restaurant with an empty water glass in front of me. And, I had no one to point out that what was brought to our table was not what we ordered. I ordered a plate of 8 chef's choice sashimi and was brought 11--not even 12 like was another option on the menu. Our friend ordered two pieces of tuna nigiri (with rice) and was brought sashimi (without).
I was also not too happy about the process for paying the bill. In retrospect I should have asked to see our bill and what we were charged for because all ordering and paying is done on iPads. Because of that I didn't see if we were at least charged for what I ordered vs what was delivered to our table. And the only options I saw for tipping were to leave no tip, 18%, or upwards of 18%. That seemed like a lot to tip for for unsatisfactory service, but I didn't want to leave no tip at all.
Otherwise, it was a fun night, good atmosphere, and a lively evening. We'll be going back again.
Food was great and reasonably priced. Service was good and ambience wasn't bad, very laid back casual type of vibe. Great for a quick bite to eat, a date or just hanging with some friends.
Good and fun as always
Easy place to get together with friends,
As tempting as the outdoor seating us avoid at all costs. I had asked if there were bugs and the waitstaff said no but boy did my friend and I get eaten up! The service was good BUT watch out for the upsells and when they ask you to add anything if it's i clouded or additional. I ordered the Light my Fire sushi roll and boy was it hot! The jalapeño peppers were on top of each sushi! I also got the salmon and avocado roll which was delicious and LOVED THE VEGGIE SOUP! I normally get the veggie ramen but the Veggie soup is the same broth they use for the Veggie ramen and soooooo amazing! Overall an awesome go-to place that rarely disappoints!
Decent fresh sushi. NOT a sushi bar type experience. More like a casual loud bistro for families who happen to want sushi.
Yummy sushi and miso. Very good service and great a/c on a hot day!
I took my father here for Father's Day. The food was really good.
Although service was friendly, the general lack of cleanliness undermined confidence. The window ledge (we were seated inside against window) had many crumbs. The floor needed sweeping. The decor pieces needed dusting. The glass fencing on the upstairs balcony was filthy, with accumulated food splashes plain as daylight. What a shame they can't be bothered. Made us wonder what the kitchen looked like.
We enjoyed it. There was a big group which made it a bit noisy. Service was good and food was tasty.
The date sucked I guess because of the loud noise
I love the sushi here! I did notice that the floor was a bit dirty and the clean up staff did not do a great job turning over the tables for new parties. I also was annoyed that I couldn't use my Groupon which is basically like a gift card and my discount from SpotLuck at the same time. But overall the sushi is great, very creative.
The tornado roll is one of my favorite rolls ever!
