Sushi One Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I went for New Years' Eve. Very good sushi, prices are more than fair. Since we ordered a lot of different things, it took approx. 20 minutes for our server to bring out the order, which was presented on a traditional wooden sushi boat. We also ordered a couple of appetizers, including a tempura assortment. The tempura was properly done, really good, and not really oily. The sushi itself (nigiri and make rolls) was very good!
The service was very attentive, the hot tea was good (we rarely drink alcohol), and so we concluded that we have found a new Japanese place to go to!
The food was just fine, but I can't say the same for the service. My friends and I came on a pretty busy evening, so it was not completely unexpected that they'd be out of some items. However, they were out of THREE dishes that we ordered and the waitress did not come and inform us of this until 10 minutes after we ordered each time. BOGO sushi is always a plus and the food that we did receive was good, but I am disappointed. They did not even offer anything to compensate for the lack of service.
We had a very unfortunate experience here on new year's eve. It was our first time dining here and the food was okay - nothing terrible but nothing outstanding either. Our drinks came out very late and one was not made per the request. The service was very poor and we felt sorry for our server after their confiding that they disliked the job and were looking for other work. Though we tipped our server 20% this was not what we are accustomed to in Raleigh and it is definitely not what I would expect for Lafayette Village which is advertised as a high end center. I would recommend that you go to any other sushi establishment in the area over this restaurant.
This one was a new one for us, generally we may like one or two rolls brought to us but this place we loved all four of our rolls. It will be our new go to place for sushi, especially with BOGO you cannot beat this place for pricing, great sushi rolls or taste!
I have dined in at Sushi One on many occasions and I always enjoy. This time was no different, however, the service we initially received was far from good. Our waitress who first greeted us come to ask what we would like to drink. My spouse asked what drink specials were going on and she proceeded to tell us NONE. I later looked on the website (as I know from past experience there is always a drink special that is posted) and that night was half priced wine. We ordered water at that point and after bringing out our waters she ran away quickly and said she would just be one minute. One minute ended up being over 10 minutes and we were STARVING and ready to order. Once she came back I pointed out the drink special on the website and we did end up getting a bottle of wine, she took our orders (we each got 2 sushi rolls each) but our sushi rolls had got mixed up so we had to divide our the correct sushi rolls after the fact. Someone else ended up taking over our table and he did well taking care of us at that point. But our service prior to that was lacking and disappointing. You shouldn't say you are going to be 1 minute when it is really going to be over 10 (be honest and realistic and if it is going to take that long you should have someone come out to take our order) and you should also know your drink specials as a waitress, the special is there to try and sell more drinks but if people aren't aware of them then what is the point. I'm not sure that this review goes to sushi one but I hope so as they can be aware of the issues. Thank you.
Our server was a bit distracted with two large tables. This is very rare (once in about 30 visits). A note though that two other servers came to check on us which was great of them to notice. It still took longer than normal to get things like refills and the check but, as always, the food was great, the service was still better than an average restaurant...it just wasn't up to their normally superb standards. Best sushi place in the triangle!!
We made reservations at Sushi One for 6:30pm and arrived a little early. We were seated immediately and my spouse was given a nice rose before heading to our table. We ordered some wine and reviewed the menu. We places our order for 4 different rolls - it was a little busy so there was at least a 15-20 minute wait for our meal. It was fairly quite for being so busy.
The sushi was great and presented nicely.
We finished our meal and were not rushed out. We paid our bill, they had BOGO on the rolls so that was a great surprise.
I would recommend Sushi One to my friends.
We went on a Saturday night at 5:30, got sat right away, however had to get my own highchair for my daughter after asking for one. Server and service was SLOW!!! Took way to long to get drinks and total time there was 1hr and 30min for sushi and a kids meal. Luckily food was good but that's about it.
Wonderful as always. I have posted before about how good the sushi is. Today I will say this...Even when something goes slightly awry they know exactly what to do. If you get a chicken meal it comes with a salad. I didn't notice until I was done with my entree that I never got the salad. When I brought it up to the waiter he went to the back and brought us TWO to go and apologized profusely. I didn't really need any at the point, one was all I ordered but we ended up having them as our vegetable the next night for dinner. Again, great as always! Thanks!!!
We really like this restaurant. We eat here often. The food is great and the service is as well. Thomas did an excellent job serving us. This time we started with Gyoza and the Salt and Pepper calamari. Both were very good. For our entrees my wife had the Shrimp Tempura (always good) and I had the Pad Thai Shrimp (always better). I really like the way they prepare the Pad Thai here. I think it's one of the best I've had in town.
We had a very good experience the first time we ate at Sushi One, but this last experience was very disappointing. Ate with party of 4 and one person's food didn't arrive until everyone else was almost finished. Rolls were good, but not as good as prior dining experience. Service was apologetic, but no attempt was made to comp late food or entice us to return.
Went on a slow night after Labor Day Weekend. Have dined here once before, and this visit exceeded the last! That's a rare quality in a newly discovered restaurant, for me at least. Sushi, Drinks, Hibachi Entree.. All Delicious, and server timed everything perfectly! Found my "Go To" in North Raleigh! Thanks One 🍣!!
First time dining here, and I must say I was quite impressed! I just moved to North Raleigh, and was on a search for a good Sushi or Thai Restaurant, well I luckily found both. I'm certainly not a Sushi Expert, but I am very picky about my Sushi when going out for it. The restaurant looked clean and the ambiance was just right. Great first impression, and it just got better from there. Along with the Fresh Sushi, and well made cocktails.. my Thai Dish was Delicious! Service was efficient, but not overbearing.. Having dined at every restaurant at Lafayette Village, this has been my favorite! I just regret not trying this place sooner!
Have been to Sushi One on other occasions. This time I brought friends who have never been there, but have dined at other Thai/Japanese/Chinese restaurants. Comparing Sushi One with their favorites they said it was VERY GOOD and will return!! Our waiter was pleasant, anxious to please, and accommodating. No doubt - will return with more friends. Chow fun is very authentic, Thai basil chicken had tender pieces of chicken and broccoli cooked perfectly.
