This place has outstanding food, but the service is only so-so. Don’t let this prevent you from visiting. Just realize the service is a little clunky.
Love this place
Fun and great value
My wife and I went for New Years' Eve. Very good sushi, prices are more than fair. Since we ordered a lot of different things, it took approx. 20 minutes for our server to bring out the order, which was presented on a traditional wooden sushi boat. We also ordered a couple of appetizers, including a tempura assortment. The tempura was properly done, really good, and not really oily. The sushi itself (nigiri and make rolls) was very good!
The service was very attentive, the hot tea was good (we rarely drink alcohol), and so we concluded that we have found a new Japanese place to go to!
The food was just fine, but I can't say the same for the service. My friends and I came on a pretty busy evening, so it was not completely unexpected that they'd be out of some items. However, they were out of THREE dishes that we ordered and the waitress did not come and inform us of this until 10 minutes after we ordered each time. BOGO sushi is always a plus and the food that we did receive was good, but I am disappointed. They did not even offer anything to compensate for the lack of service.
The food is always good and a great value. But the service is really Hit or Miss. Ask for Carol or the older lady - she is awesome! They usually don't have enough servers, and they sometimes forget the order.
We had a very unfortunate experience here on new year's eve. It was our first time dining here and the food was okay - nothing terrible but nothing outstanding either. Our drinks came out very late and one was not made per the request. The service was very poor and we felt sorry for our server after their confiding that they disliked the job and were looking for other work. Though we tipped our server 20% this was not what we are accustomed to in Raleigh and it is definitely not what I would expect for Lafayette Village which is advertised as a high end center. I would recommend that you go to any other sushi establishment in the area over this restaurant.
Not what I was expecting. Slow service and had to wait for 20 minutes to get a table even with a reservation. The food was decent but not memorable in any way. Will probably not return.
Great as usual, Sushi was fresh, plated beautifully. Bar makes a great Martini as well! One out of my North Raleigh Favorites definitely!!
We went on a friends recommendation and it was wonderful! We have recommended it to others!
Food was better than fresher than last time! Decent sushi, nothing fancy. Boys love the hibachi chicken and steak.
We had reservations but still had to wait almost 15 minutes to get seated. Love the food and service
It was the most memorable dining experience I've had so far, everything came out so well & we had the most loving waiter . Food was amazing & came out quick ! Overall amazing. Really enjoyed it .
Our bookclub has met here for dinner several times and has enjoyed the service, sushi, wine specials and great service. A good experience every time!
This one was a new one for us, generally we may like one or two rolls brought to us but this place we loved all four of our rolls. It will be our new go to place for sushi, especially with BOGO you cannot beat this place for pricing, great sushi rolls or taste!
Great Sushi & it was BOGO!
I have dined in at Sushi One on many occasions and I always enjoy. This time was no different, however, the service we initially received was far from good. Our waitress who first greeted us come to ask what we would like to drink. My spouse asked what drink specials were going on and she proceeded to tell us NONE. I later looked on the website (as I know from past experience there is always a drink special that is posted) and that night was half priced wine. We ordered water at that point and after bringing out our waters she ran away quickly and said she would just be one minute. One minute ended up being over 10 minutes and we were STARVING and ready to order. Once she came back I pointed out the drink special on the website and we did end up getting a bottle of wine, she took our orders (we each got 2 sushi rolls each) but our sushi rolls had got mixed up so we had to divide our the correct sushi rolls after the fact. Someone else ended up taking over our table and he did well taking care of us at that point. But our service prior to that was lacking and disappointing. You shouldn't say you are going to be 1 minute when it is really going to be over 10 (be honest and realistic and if it is going to take that long you should have someone come out to take our order) and you should also know your drink specials as a waitress, the special is there to try and sell more drinks but if people aren't aware of them then what is the point. I'm not sure that this review goes to sushi one but I hope so as they can be aware of the issues. Thank you.
One of our favorite neighborhood hangouts. Zach is always our waiter - he's awesome. Amazing and fresh sushi.
My North Raleigh go to for Sushi these days. Great Service, and lots of options!
Our server was a bit distracted with two large tables. This is very rare (once in about 30 visits). A note though that two other servers came to check on us which was great of them to notice. It still took longer than normal to get things like refills and the check but, as always, the food was great, the service was still better than an average restaurant...it just wasn't up to their normally superb standards. Best sushi place in the triangle!!
Can always count on the Manhattan Roll being tasty!
Good food - love the 2-for-1 rolls!
Great tasting sushi in a relaxing environment. Staff are always friendly and attentive
We ordered the Thai basil & drunkin noodles. Both dishes barely had any meat in them. The Thai basil was nothing but broccoli and oyster sauce and it was salty. It was worst than cheap Chinese food. Never going back
We made reservations at Sushi One for 6:30pm and arrived a little early. We were seated immediately and my spouse was given a nice rose before heading to our table. We ordered some wine and reviewed the menu. We places our order for 4 different rolls - it was a little busy so there was at least a 15-20 minute wait for our meal. It was fairly quite for being so busy.
The sushi was great and presented nicely.
We finished our meal and were not rushed out. We paid our bill, they had BOGO on the rolls so that was a great surprise.
I would recommend Sushi One to my friends.
Good was great. Service was pretty good
We went on a Saturday night at 5:30, got sat right away, however had to get my own highchair for my daughter after asking for one. Server and service was SLOW!!! Took way to long to get drinks and total time there was 1hr and 30min for sushi and a kids meal. Luckily food was good but that's about it.
Wonderful as always. I have posted before about how good the sushi is. Today I will say this...Even when something goes slightly awry they know exactly what to do. If you get a chicken meal it comes with a salad. I didn't notice until I was done with my entree that I never got the salad. When I brought it up to the waiter he went to the back and brought us TWO to go and apologized profusely. I didn't really need any at the point, one was all I ordered but we ended up having them as our vegetable the next night for dinner. Again, great as always! Thanks!!!
I ate a tempura appetizer, sushi (two types) and a tried a bottle of their hot Sake. It was all very good but not sure if I would consider anything as "exceptional", hence my review of "good".
Really enjoyed our food! Besides the server being new or not checking in on us it was an overall great experience.
We really like this restaurant. We eat here often. The food is great and the service is as well. Thomas did an excellent job serving us. This time we started with Gyoza and the Salt and Pepper calamari. Both were very good. For our entrees my wife had the Shrimp Tempura (always good) and I had the Pad Thai Shrimp (always better). I really like the way they prepare the Pad Thai here. I think it's one of the best I've had in town.
The service was attentive and the food excellent. If you like a spicy tuna roll, go for the hurricane roll for a little twist on an old favorite. The Thai Basil was possibly the best I've ever had.
Sushi One is consistent and delicious every time. The service is always excellent and attentive as well. You can't go wrong!
Wonderful food and service! A regular sushi place for my husband and I!
Overall the food was great. My main problem is that it took 45 minutes for 4 sushi rolls. That seems to be very long for 4 rolls. The sushi was great. I would like to see the service to match the food.
We had a very good experience the first time we ate at Sushi One, but this last experience was very disappointing. Ate with party of 4 and one person's food didn't arrive until everyone else was almost finished. Rolls were good, but not as good as prior dining experience. Service was apologetic, but no attempt was made to comp late food or entice us to return.
Went on a slow night after Labor Day Weekend. Have dined here once before, and this visit exceeded the last! That's a rare quality in a newly discovered restaurant, for me at least. Sushi, Drinks, Hibachi Entree.. All Delicious, and server timed everything perfectly! Found my "Go To" in North Raleigh! Thanks One 🍣!!
have eaten there several times. Food is great. service is wonderful.
Sushi One has a nice selection of rolls, many of which are cooked for the less adventurous sushi eater. I chose it because I was pregnant and could order a number of pregnancy-safe rolls. The sushi seems fresh.
First time dining here, and I must say I was quite impressed! I just moved to North Raleigh, and was on a search for a good Sushi or Thai Restaurant, well I luckily found both. I'm certainly not a Sushi Expert, but I am very picky about my Sushi when going out for it. The restaurant looked clean and the ambiance was just right. Great first impression, and it just got better from there. Along with the Fresh Sushi, and well made cocktails.. my Thai Dish was Delicious! Service was efficient, but not overbearing.. Having dined at every restaurant at Lafayette Village, this has been my favorite! I just regret not trying this place sooner!
