Food and service is always great. Conversation isn't easy as the atmosphere is very loud.
Not any more pricey than other sushi restaurants in the area, but much better food. 9 of us had dinner including beer, and the tab was ~$300.00.
Loved this place! Amazing list of specialty rolls and the Red Dragon was the best I’ve ever had. However, the garlic edamame was the real show stopper! So delicious that I will be back every time I’m in the area!
Having been here several times, we know the food is good. Love the I love you roll! My wife has been enjoying their soups and sushi bowls. This place isn’t cheap, but I don’t think it’s a bad value. Biggest issue of the night: they ran out of booze and couldn’t make any cocktails. And this was at 7pm. I reminded two waiters that there is a BevMo liquor store about 100 yards away, but they just smiled and said we know. Seriously, no liquor except beer and sushi?
Great service! I left my iPad and the waitress had put it aside for me. Phew...
First time here. Had the Dragon balls for appetizers and the Poke nachos. Both were awesome. Loved the happy hour Sapporo bear too. Definitely going back.
Really great sushi restaurant tucked in to an unlikely spot. Great prices and pretty quick but it can get crowded.
This was our third or 4th time to dine here. The food didn't seem to be as fresh as in previous visits. They also seemed to be understaffed. Perhaps it was just a bad day. We really like the place and we think it is the best Sushi place in Gilroy/Hollister, and we will dine there again.
We live in Hollister and only have two Sushi restaurants, one of them is terrible. So finding a sushi place we like is a good find, Omakase is a great find and worth the drive to Gilroy
Our 5 year old grandson chose Sushi Omakase for his birthday meal out. The kids California roll is really cute. They always make a creature design with the cut roll. The kids love it. Their sushi is always fresh and delicious; we're rather choosy since we've had the real thing in Japan. The adults can always find something they would like even if they don't care for sushi; noodle bowls, teriyaki, tempura and non-raw rolls. We've never had anything that wasn't delicious here. That said we did have one big problem when we arrived. They didn't have a reservation shown for us even though I had my reservation number from Open Table. I believe Open Table messed up somehow. The restaurant worked with us and we only had to wait about 20 minutes, which during prime dining time is great.
I drive from out of town to come to this place. Been the only sushi place I go to. Until this last experience which is my last time there! I get there and they dont have my reservation, even though I showed them my copy, they told me if I wait half hour I would get seated and get a free appetizer? Are you kidding?! Will not be returning
I love how they know us well enough to anticipate our needs! The staff is ALWAYS amazing! Friendly and fast though sometimes when they are slammed things slow down, but it happens to everyone.
This restaurant does not check us in and consequently we do not earn points. Each time we have gone, we have asked them to be sure and confirm we showed up for our reservation and nada. They do not follow through.
We were actually unable to eat here this night. We arrived 5 minutes prior to our reservation and there were many people waiting outside. When I went in it took the hostess 10 mins to even acknowledge me. Once she did she said it was going to be at least 20 more minutes (now almost 30 minutes after my reservation time). There were at least 5-6 tables that had not been cleaned and the restaurant was clearly under staffed. I love this place but that was a huge disappointment. We needed up leaving without eating because it was taking too long. We intentionally had made reservations because we were on kinda a tight schedule.
Love the garlic edamame
Lots of new staff, not familiar with their jobs. Sushi was falling apart, not well made. Hand roll had no sauce. We were there for a birthday celebration and was not good. The service was very slow, food presentation was poorly put together. Not the dining experience we've had in the past.
Food was great as always, just one minor issue. The last 3-4 times we have eaten at Omakase the potsticker sauce as been too spicy for my wife to eat, used to be one of her favorite things......
The food was great. Unfortunately the service was very slow.
Such a great bento box lunch and so unexpected in a mall just off the highway in Gilroy! It will be our lunch destination whenever we're headed to the Bay Area.
Love this place! Always consistently good, fresh food. I would make a reservation for Saturday afternoon/evening as they fill up fast.
We made an Open Table reservation for 6:30 and upon arrival there was a line waiting to be seated. When I told them I made a reservation through Open Table, they told me it wasn't working on their side. We waited anyway because the food looked fabulous! And, it was! Although the system wasn't working, the food was great, and even with the crowd, the service was very good too! I would definitely call next time for a reservation.
Best sushi in the South Bay. The fish is the freshest and comes close as if you were eating in Tokyo.
Service poor. Husband's dish came out ten minutes after everyone else. Server never
checked back and never got to order more drinks or get more water.
We come back again and again. We were celebrating a birthday and were a big group. Food is great. The complimentary deep fried tempura cheesecake is amazing. They sang Happy Birthday to my boy. It was great.
We have been here several times, usually with large groups. The service has been great, even when very busy, and we appreciate that they will do separate checks. The food has been consistently good, and they have a few uncommon things like fresh real wasabi and kama (collar) on the menu. The acoustics are very live, so it is a noisy place
Person who seated us didn't how to check us in or that he was to it for all open table reservations.
Sushi was quite possibly the worst we've ever had: BOTH the spicy tuna roll and spicy scallops roll were bland.
Rolls were approximately 1 centimeter in thickness - skimpy/cheap cuts of sushi roll.
If we had put all 6 pieces together, it would have been less than 4"of sushi roll.
Sake tasting was OK.
The portions are good with nice presentation of freshness. The location is a little hidden which hard to find without a gps. Nice young staffs with full of energies.
Kids scattered everywhere, no way to escape the noise. Also, I enjoy ultimate fighting, but blood spatter & dinner don't necessarily mix. On the upside, friendly servers and good food. I'll have to try again on off-hours.
We love coming here for the lunch bento boxes. It is a great value and you can upgrade your roll. We love the rolls and currently the what the heck roll is our favorite. Definitely eat here!
Went there on Friday night around 9pm. Still pretty full and quite loud. Some interesting appetizers (Edamame platter - spicy!) and side dishes (spicy rice) as well as unique sushi rolls. We liked all the dishes that we ordered. Service was very attentative and quick. We will be back.
