Tuna of Gari
8 pieces of Gari's Signature Tuna Sushi with 1 Spicy Tuna Roll
Consistently delicious innovative sushi. Ends up getting a bit pricey but there isn't really anything that quite compares.
Saturday night. Amazing food. Very surprised by the amount of 5 year olds that were there at 8pm. Kinda killed the mood a bit for my date.
I love Sushi of Gari, but for Valentines Day I got two reminders on how much it would cost, how they don’t tolerate lateness, etc., yet the service seemed so rushed and not really respectful of my time. Our first course of sushi came out before our drinks and people who sat after us got served first. Again, it wouldn’t be such a big deal if they were not so adamant you follow their rules. Food was still great.
Food quality is great but it is a bit pricey (~$10 per roll). Besides the price, everything was as expected.
Great food... Expensive
Amazing! The Omakase blew my mind. Very quiet, small restaurant.
This was our go to place for quality sushi. Pieces and rolls were always perfect, rice was warm, rolls were neatly made even crepe cake was always fresh. Last three times rolls became more sloppy, sushi pieces not as good and waiters always get something messed up or forget something we ordered. This time even the crepe cake tasted old. I’m not sure what happened with this location over the last few years but it was always excellent and their signature pieces were amazing. Now In order to get better service and sushi you have to visit upper east side location. Unfortunately have no desire to visit this location ever again simply because it’s a waste of significant amount of money
Phenomenal sushi! Try their private sake-
We ordered something and it came with something not exactly as we ordered it was really hard to have what we wanted and the quality was not as good as it usually is uptown! We were really disappointed. The service was not good and they were not friendly at all!
The tuna assortment was amazing
The sushi here was great and was in line with all the other reviews of the restaurant. My main concern, however, is value and the lack of diversity in their roll selection. We selected the omakase and received 12 pieces of sushi for over a hundred dollars. Naturally, we were still hungry after our omakase concluded and looked to order a few rolls. There was nothing inspiring on the menu with the majority of rolls consisting of a singular fish. I personally wouldn’t come back as there are countless other sushi restaurants that greatly outperform sushi of gari.
The TriBeCa location is my favorite of all the sushi of gari places in New York
Our waiter was excellent- smart fast, clearly caring and the tuna tasting phenomenal totally worth its (high) price
still dreaming of the omakase experience we had at sushi of Gari-tribeca. the creativity of each piece, the wisdom of the chef and the perfection of the flavors linger still. bravo. peace...tk
This is ma & my husbands favorite restaurant!
Overrated, over priced. And after 2 hours (and $600) they asked us to leave because the next reservation was there.
A lovely intimate restaurant. Very good quality, always fresh and delicious. The chef specials are creative. Wines and Saki selections are always well received. We love this place so much, we generally eat here 2-3 times a week when in NYC. A favorite of ours.
Didn’t like it at all. The decor is so old and outdated. Food was okay. The fatty tuna saved our meal. I was expecting a lot more. With so many great sushi places in NYC, they should invest in a makeover. Service was poor. Not a nice experience and will not go back.
Food was as expected very good but the ambience was terrible. I think they could do much better with just a tiny little investment in the decor. No inspiration at all.
Excellent fresh sushi. Good service. Restaurant is small but very comfortable.
We arrived earlier than our reservation & they were very accommodating & sat us earlier.
Will most definitely go back.
The food was amazing and the service was great but the ambiance did not match the price of the food. Felt like I was eating in an office board room with harsh lighting. However, the food was absolutely incredible and we’d definitely come back
Everything was incredible. The only small thing and reason why I gave service a 4 not 5 was I felt rushed by my servers to order, water, a drink, and appetizer - 3 separate instances.
Sushi is great quality. Drink prices, however, especially for sake, are extremely high.
Great food and service
We have been to this location a few times and it never fails. The sushi is very good and we always end up having a great meal.
Sushi of Gari is never less than excellent and most often is magnificent. The Omakase offering, bite for bite, is pure delight. Haven't tried anything else here but based on the freshness and top quality of the sushi, as well as the artistry of the sushi chefs, I recommend it without hesitation to anyone who hankers for an authentic Japanese culinary experience.
The omakase at Sushi of Gari Tribeca was not worth it. Most of the sushi selections were average and the 2 salmon pieces were ordinary, I would not have chosen them. My friend told the server she didn’t like uni, which I love, but the chef took the easy way out and made us the same exact 12 piece offerings. Gari on the UES was always creative, I’ve found my experiences at Gari 46 and Tribeca unexciting. With new comers like Sushi by M offering good and reasonably priced omakase, Gari needs to lift their game.
We go often because the omakase experience is incredible.
Terrible. Not worth the money.
This is my second visit in a week for the omakase dinner at the sushi bar. Last week I went with two friends and when it was discovered they were allergic to gluten and could not have sushi, the waitress suggested the sashimi dinner which they enjoyed very much. Fish is absolutely fresh and the chefs have wonderful skills with the knife -- each piece melts in the mouth. I highly recommend Sushi of Gari and can't wait to return.
This is hands down the best Sushi I have ever eaten in America. The chef is exceptional.
great Service, very nice waiter!!!
I have been going to Gari on UWS and UES for several years!! TriBeCa was terrible - the omakase was no where near the quality it should have been. So disappointed. We all were.
So fantastic! Dont go for ambiance..onky for food!
We had a great time dining at Sushi of Gari. We were greeted kindly by the hostess who seated us promptly upstairs for the chef tasting omakase. Our waitress did a great job recommending different types of sake and explaining the omakase process. Each piece was crafted to perfection. Our favorite was the fluke with poached quail egg and truffle oil! We had an amazing experience and will be back soon!
Delicious omakase without all the pretense of some other places.
There are so many good sushi places in NYC that I'm not usually that excited about any single one of them but the food here really was noticeably amazing. My only complaint would be that the bathroom is in a weird location and if you're sitting at one of the two tables right in front of the bathroom there's a lot of foot traffic past your table.
I ate upstairs at the Sushi Omakase counter. very creative and delicious combinations that I had never eaten. You can let them know what you like so they can tailor the menu to suit your taste. It's relaxing not to have to choose and also to be surprised by inventive pieces of sushi. Very expensive, but if you just want to chill out and have a delicious and relaxing experience I highly recommend!!!
One of the best for Sushi and sashimi. Team is lovely.
